Riva Boutique Hotel

The location is fantastic right on the sea/river front. The whole building was tastefully decorated and the bed was sooooo comfortable. The hand soap smelt lovely and the staff were friendly. We thought that we only got continental breakfast included but to our surprise staff asked what our egg preference was and after a short wait a beautiful cooked breakfast was brought over.

Could do with a side entrance for guests to check into their rooms rather than having to carry luggage through the middle of a busy bar / restaurant on a Saturday evening. Room was a little bit dusty but otherwise clean. Could do with another staff member on duty during breakfast for hotel guests.

I rarely leave reviews but what a great wee place! The location is fantastic, a stones throw from the beach front. It’s beautifully decorated and the rooms are immaculate, the bed was extremely comfortable and the bar and restaurant was warm and cosy, the food and drinks were great. Really can’t fault this place! My partner and I like to bring our pup along on our wee adventures and this is by far the most dog friendly hotel we’ve visited so far! A special thank you to Kristina who is so lovely for looking after us and making sure we had everything we could have needed during our stay. Creed our American bully loved the attention too! We rarely visit the same place twice but we will definitely be back. soon I hope! We had a great weekend.

honestly? nothing!

We had a couple of minor issues when we arrived but the team at the Riva went out of their way to remedy these and we had a superb stay, the rooms were well furnished, immaculately clean and the food in the restaurant was excellent.

Rooms were small for a couple, but were advertised as “small double” so this isn’t a complaint just saying that it really was a “small double”.

Fabulous hotel with some great little quirks! The swing in the lobby is a brilliant touch. Beds are so comfy as well. Cooked breakfast on the morning hit the spot perfectly. Great coffee too. Location is stunning looking right out over the bay.

There was construction going on opposite the hotel which was quite loud for a Saturday morning. Fortunately we all had to be up early anyway and it’s not really the hotel’s fault. The continental breakfast was included in the price of the room. Most of us chose the hot, cooked breakfast. We paid the supplement no problem, but that meant we didn’t get any of the continental breakfast. If it’s included in the price of the room, surely we can at least have a pick of some of the continental breakfast, croissants yoghurt etc. Didn’t really tarnish our stay though, very happy overall.

Room was cozy and nice, with lovely interior. Breakfast was nice, although we are still unsure if we could have asked full English breakfast or something else than continental option. Because we saw some other people having that and that looked really awesome.

It was quite hot summers day, and the room didn't have any air-con. Opening the window didn't give much any fresh air from outside, most likely because it was towards some small inner yard. And there was practically no view from the window (since the inner yard was really small - so basically you had a view to neighbor - "Friend's style").

It was a return visit for us because we liked it last year. The location is perfect : a short walk from Helensburgh Central Station and on the waterfront. Helensburgh is a delightful town to stroll around and there are pleasant walks along the waterfront. The hotel itself is cosy but well-kept and the staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast and evening meals are good and there is an outdoor seating area when the weather is suitable.

Comfortable and clean room with great shower and a record player! Compact size but perfectly big enough for a short stay. Handy free carpark opposite at the leisure centre. Delicious breakfast and space in bar area to dine with our dog.

Fancy coffee machine but no pods! Shame we had a long wait for breakfast, but felt that was simply down to short staff. We only saw one lady, who was lovely but doing everything.

the room was very small but that was stated on the web site at the time of booking so no real complaint there. the staff were very friendly and helpful, my wife is gluten intolerant and the kitchen and waiting staff did every thing they could to ensure that she was provided with gluten free options for the evening meal and the breakfast. this was a one night stopover on a longer journey and i would definitely use this hotel again for a similar trip or even a longer stay.

as stated before the room was very small but that was made clear at the time of booking but it was just a bit too small for me, apart from that i can't really fault my stay.

close to town and facilities. lovely food. friendly staff . beautifully decorated. some lovely touches in the rooms, like a record player.

the door to the bathroom is see through . I have been here twice now and the first time was with my husband, we both found it a bit strange that we could see each other in the bathroom. I booked again to go with my daughter and we had a twin room. she was not happy about the see through doors, we had to use the blanket from the bed as a cover over the doors !

Excellent location with free parking nearby. Small and friendly.

Room very small. Little light through a small window. We ate at the hotel on the first evening. Main course was excellent. I thought I would try the cheesecake and was shocked by how small it was. Basically one spoonful and expensive.
