Ashford International Hotel & Spa

We needed a place to stay as we were taking the Eurotúnel the next morning. This ticked the boxes as only 20 minutes away. The room was clean and fit for purpose :) we were travelling with our dog and he too was made to feel welcome 🐶 large well designed lobby, nice grounds and close to a couple of supermarkets, bowling and sainsbury petrol station

We arrived at 6.30pm due to traffic so my 12 year old daughter wasn’t allowed in the pool and the gym didnt open until 8am which meant i couldn’t use it before heading out. The two main reasons we had booked the hotel 😅 I think considering most places consider over 12s adults in hotels this rule is very silly. The food in the lobby was very mediocre and expensive for the quality.for a 4 star hotel should have had smart TVs as a given these days even for most 3 stars. People have progressed beyond free view !

We have stayed at this hotel previously and also used it for business/training purposes also over the last four years and for both purposes this has been an amazing hotel. The service and professionalism by staff is faultless and this occasion was no different. We were given an upgrade to ensure we had adequate space for our luggage as we were preparing to move countries in the following days. The beds were comfortable and afforded a good sleep and the room was spacious. We didn’t have breakfast on the first morning but did on the second and found it well cooked, lots of options and tasty. We loved the option of wellness area inclusive of pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and gym.

The bathroom had significant mould in the grouting and surrounds and this was also found in the bathrooms in the wellness centre. I suggest that better mould proofing and exhaust vents would reduce this somewhat and should be prioritised to prevent any guests becoming sick due to mould allergies or respiratory issues.

The location is excellent and the room was wonderfully clean and very spacious. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the facilities were good.

The bed was just a little too soft for me and not perhaps as comfortable as I’d like. Also, the pool was not as nice due to children being allowed to use most of the space. I swam in the swimming lane, but would have liked a bit more facilities in the pool area, and perhaps a a couple more hours for adults only. Or even a separate pool for children. Also, the cost of breakfast was too much for us to afford.

We had a spacy room big enough for afamily with two small kids. The breakfast was really nice and the pool with sauna was nice too. We went twice. I kind of expected a more shabby motel feeling and it was not that at all. All the facilities were very nice. The staff was helpful and friendly. As we were travelling by bike we were able to store them more securely on the personnel bike stands which are closed behind a gate for the night. It is a transit location but it is also as expected. Cosy Ashford center is not far away though, about 10 minutes by bike.

Nothing to complain about. The hotel met all of our expectations.

We like the set up here. It's a good distance to and from our destination with easy access to petrol and motorway. The food is good and the rooms comfortable.

On more than one occasion we have found the staff to be somewhat unprofessional. We arrived at reception and had to wait a good two minutes before the receptionist strolled over across the wide expanse of reception area. She didn't greet us at all- we had to initiate conversation - there was no small talk. Not a good start. The bar staff are unprofessional too although some of them are very helpful and pleasant.

Staff of the hotel is awesome, always willing to help, they always told me everything i needed to know, helped me with calling for the taxi, on my wish they gave me another blankets to the room. The rooms are very comfortable, especially pillows and those blankets. Everything is clean and ready to use, They have very good blacktea in the room with a kettle. I am always travelling with my friend, we tried the smallest and even the biggest room, and they are all awesome, In the bigger one, with the sofa, even on that sofa you can sleep so comfortably. The pool, sanua and jacuzii are good to, usually there are not even that much people, so you can enjoy it.

The only disadvantage i see as a european, is for me a little variety on the breakfast.. I mean, British typical breakfast is good, but maybe i would rather sometimes take only some kind of ham, salami or cheese on my bread. I was at the hotels, that were less comfortable, luxurious and cheaper, and they had better variety of food for the breakfast.

The hotel is great. Very well located, not too far away from the town centre. I booked a single room with a queen bed and it was a good size room. Had Free parking for the guests and a gym and swimming pool which are great facilities. The lounge area was well managed. I could not enjoy the food or the restaurant due to my own reasons but as I heard from other guests, they were good too.

My room did not have free complimentary water bottles and did not even have a mini fridge which was a bummer. Also, the room air conditioning kept turning from cool to hot and vice versa when I had it on a particular setting but at least central heating was working.

Love the location and the hotel we always have a fab time here

Only criticism is that there was not enough staff on the bar there was a wedding at the same time and the wedding guests were using the lounge bar as well as the hotel guests and only one member of staff on the bar most of the time so meant there was about a 15 min queue for drinks or longer sometimes and tables weren’t getting cleared not the bar staffs fault at all they did what they could and they were super friendly and apologetic at the time it took to serve

Lots of relaxing space off the lobby to meet friends/family. Handy plugs and USB ports if you’re working or need a device charged. public toilets were very clean, as were the public areas. Bar food was good and quick. staff were all really helpful and kind. Room was comfortable and clean, shower/bath was lovely! We stayed at New Year, there was a gala downstairs and we didn’t hear anything - not a guest or music! Very close to a cinema, Frankie & Bennie’s, KFC and McDonald’s if wanted. Really pleasant stay, would definitely go back. Didn’t use the spa facilities as went shopping to Ashford Designer Outlet and Canterbury instead!

Nothing we didn’t like - Christmas decorations were beautiful too!
