Excellent breakfast, and very friendly staff. The location was perfect for our purposes - ie half way between Dungeness, to visit Derek Jarman's garden and the RSPB site in one direction and Hythe in the other direction to have a more town-based experience, with a bus stop right outside the Inn to enable us not to worry about parking. We came back to eat dinner in the restaurant on both evenings that we stayed. The promenade right behind the Inn is a wonderful way to see this part of the Kent coastline, and takes just a few minutes to reach Dymchurch town centre.

We had a lovely room (the Four Poster) but the bed was too soft for my liking (fine for my husband) and the stairs are quite steep !

easy to find, good parking facilities and clean, well appointed rooms with comfortable bed. lounge and dining room clean and attractive art work on the wall. clearly thought has gone into layout. Staff friendly and helpful.

sadly there were a number of issues. steep staircase would not suit disabled. from a personal point, we were not told about the specials on the menu and a number of items on the menu not available. the menu was limited. key issue was. check in and payment. B.C stated payment paid day before arrival, it wasn’t and I wasted over 20 mins on departure trying to confirm. the process for check in is not the standards B.C process.!this spoiled the stay. I have to check my credit card to see if I have paid twice and been credited by B.C

The room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The beds were so comfortable and they were the best pillows we’ve had in a hotel! There’s tea, coffee, water and biscuits and lovely toiletries in the bathroom. The bar, restaurant and toilets were also spotlessly clean and it had a really cosy atmosphere. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was fantastic. Breakfast is included and there was a good menu, we had a full English and it was really lovely. The staff were SO nice, everyone we met during our stay was absolutely lovely. The best staff we’ve ever encountered in any hotel we’ve stayed in. We can’t wait to come back!

We liked everything.

Lovely spacious room, good shower, very comfy bed. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice too. The building is old so you need to expect to have steep narrow stairs, we didn't find this a problem but you need to be careful. There is a nice lounge area with books and games where you can sit in comfy chairs and have a pre-dinner drink or night cap. Very enjoyable stay for our golf break in Kent. Plenty of parking too.

So much parking available, not too far from the beach, the property is just at the end of the high street. Super peaceful. Pretty building. Inside is so welcoming & cosy & the personality of the hosts is just through and through. From The heart of the doormat all the way up to the heart details in the bedroom. We had the gorgeous 4 poster room. which my Daugher compared to a princess,so instantly loved it the room also had a duplex bathroom with a roll top bath. You could just see the sea from the top window. We dined in the restaurant downstairs and it was lovely, good atmosphere & friendly team working there. Check in & check out was super easy. I think the facilities of the room was great value for money especially considering the location. I will definitely revisit The Ship Inn on my next visit.

A very nice inn located on the main road opposite the church - an easy walk into Dymchurch, should you ever want to go there! Very friendly, professional staff made this place a really good find because nothing was too much trouble (even room service, on one night!) Fabulous, open empty beaches just a short walk away... the weather wasn't quite warm enough to have us paddling in the sea - but a lovely promendade walk for a couple of miles was all that was needed. Food was good, tasty and reasonably-priced and service was exceptional, especially from Ange on breakfasts! Outside there is a large car park with free parking and a good-sized garden area with seating for when the sun does shine! There is a nice little minature railway serving Dymchurch (from Hyde to Dungeness) and this really must be tried, if you get the chance. Dungeness is certainly an interesting place (unique, I think Ange described it - which it certainly was!!) but you wouldn't want to stay too long! We had a rover day ticket which meant we could go back up the line in the other direction to Hyde, which had rather more going on.

Our room was just a little small, but was comfortable and had a nice view of the church. Just a caution about the steep stairs up to the first floor but it's an old building that's been renovated so maybe this should be expected.

Lovely, simple welcome and good communication. Friendly & polite staff throughout our stay. Hot fresh breakfast with extra choices given. Comfortable and spacious surroundings with tasteful decor. Two minute walk to the beachfront ,on private pathway.Lots of hot water and deep ,full- length bath . Good eye for detail around the place.

Some road noise late evening and dawn time.and occasional loud voices underneath our room ( bar area) til 10.30pm. Outside area not looking it's best and could do with full- hearted revamp for next Spring.

Nice bar/restaurant and good food. Room was fine but bathroom looking a little tired .

Breakfast didn't start well - only 1 member of staff in at 8.00am who was cooking another guests breakfast, so no-one attended for over 20 minutes. Once another member of staff arrived at 8.30 things started to improve and breakfast was eventually fine. If they had said the previous night breakfast only served from 8.30 it would have been better. Shower screen seal on bath green at the bottom! Not good - how could this be missed? This hotel was supposedly a winner in the TV show "4 in a bed" (apparently) so difficult to understand why it was like this. But never mind!

Really good breakfast and the staff extremely helpful. The room was clean and spacious with tea and biscuits. We stayed two nights and enjoyed the restaurant and food on our own for the first night. The following evening we were part of a table of 15 people and were given a separate area of the restaurant to dine. The kitchen team along with front of house were able to cater for us whilst also looking after guests who were dining at the same time. The restaurant is clearly very popular hence it would be advisable to book.

We had Room 1 'Golden Room' which is quite large with plenty of space to sit. The shower head and support needs a little TLC and space to layout the contents of a wash-bag would be transformational. This could be easily achieved by placing a shelf across the back of the essentially unused alcove.

I liked the character of the place, really enjoyed the breakfast it was excellent. Dinner was good too, good choice. The staff were very exceptionally friendly and accommodating and made me feel very welcome

We had to wait quite a while for dinner, but there was a group of us and it was all served together and was delicious when it came out. Likewise for breakfast, it took over half an hour for the main breakfast to come out, but it was delicious
