Holiday Inn Huntingdon Racecourse, an IHG Hotel

The location was fantastic and the staff were lovely throughout the weekend.

The extra sleeping arrangement for our 2 children was pretty poor. They’re only 10 and it is a small double bed the sofa converts to & they were very uncomfortable and really struggled to sleep & were very achy all day after both nights. Have woken very refreshed and no aches at home today. If you advertise a family room, for the cost you charge as standard I would expect proper beds to be available in some rooms like most other basic hotels offer without similar costs.

Room was comfortable. The food was good with a reasonable choice for evening meal and a very good selection for breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. When I was unable to get into the room due to faulty key card reader the staff were extremely prompt and professional in dealing with the issue.

My room (124) was close to the lift and stairs up to the first floor. The hardwood flooring meant that the noise from other guests and staff footfall and suitcase wheel noise was audible in the room. The room was quiet during the main night period (10pm to 6am) but outside of this time the noise was annoying.

Easy check in,reception staff welcoming .Restaurant food was excellent although not a lot of choice.Much improved since our last visit.Stayed after a day at the races and is a 2 minute walk away.Perfect. We booked in advance and got a fair price but checked 2 days before arrival and found the price had dropped enough to change the booking.Maybe keep an eye on the prices before you go. Would stay again.

Few issues with room but these were dealt with . It advertises Starbucks but is just a machine behind the bar.We orderd 4 hot chocolates which were not nice.

Really nice location and lovely staff. Breakfast was delicious and the room was great - the air con being on during the heatwave was a huge bonus and welcome when we had come in from outside.

Only small thing was the duvet was tucked in too tight around the bed so I struggled to get in. I managed to pull out the sides but not the bottom so my feet were flattened as I slept. Luckily I was too tired from driving and work that I fell asleep quite quickly and this wasn’t too much of an issue.

How I booked a double bed and was given a twin bedded room , no walk in shower as advertised not a very comfortable bed and the breakfast fresh coffee comes in a individual caffè tiar So when it’s made it’s not left long enough to filter when they push the plunge down !! Top tip let the customer plunge the coffee !! Seriously though our stay would of been a lot more enjoyable with better beds and breakfast and at £141 I did expect better to be brutally honest

Room was lovely, well decorated, furnished nicely and the bathroom was clean. The entrance and bar area were bright and attractive. The restaurant was nice and the food was good. The location was fantastic for us personally as it was near where we needed to be the following day and also because we are linked closely with another racecourse in Scotland.

Service in Restaurant was pretty slow. We had to leave relatively early so there was no option for breakfast.

One of the best looking Holiday Inn hotels I have been to. The social areas were excellent as was the bedrooms. The food quality was very good. The location was excellent - close to the motorway. The duty manager during the evening was Karl and was excellent.

The evening meal scheduling was regrettably one of the worst I have seen. We ordered at 7.30 pm and eventually completed at 10pm. We waited 90 minutes for our meal. A top up order for deserts took over 30 minutes to appear. (We had 2 children who had practically fallen asleep when the meal turned up) Karl the duty manager was instrumental in getting our meal order on track to whom we are grateful. The waiters did not seem to have any control or cohesion with the chef in the kitchens and were unable to advise us on timescale of our order.

Everything was explained when we arrived, there was a large party in so we needed to get our food order in early. The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was good both in terms of quality and quantity. Hotel was very quiet at night, made sleep easy. Bed was comfortable and the room a good size and quality.

Only issue was we booked a twin room and got a double, but not a big problem for me and my son

Spacious room which was well designed with plenty of storage, mirrors and electric plugs, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, helpful staff, good food from a reasonably varied menu, excellent breakfast choices. We liked being able to open the window and enjoyed having a Juliet balcony. The view across the race-course and the sunset over the lake added hugely to the enjoyment of our stay. We were delighted to be able to charge our electric car in the hotel car park.

I hate having just a duvet. I was far too hot. If there was a sheet and an option of a blanket, it would give possibilities to suit all tastes and temperatures. I hate showers. But the worst sort of showers are the ones where you can't take the shower head off in order to reach those important little places. Especially when the shower head is at the height for a 6ft 6inch bloke and I am only 5ft 2! These niggles are general and not confined to this particular hotel but maybe if I say it often enough in reviews, somebody might eventually take some notice.

Location and layout of hotel very appealing - liked high ceilings and spaciousness of lobby area. Restaurant was excellent - staff and food deserve high ratings.

A welcome on arrival would have been nice - even a smile from the reception person would have been welcomed. She did all that was required to check in but her manner was decidedly offhand and uninterested. . Course in customer relations would help! Only other downside was quality of breakfast - service was a bit slow, food was not really hot and bacon was seriously overdone. We were very disappointed as our dinner the previous evening couldn't be faulted.
