Plato's

What a delightful find! Our attic room was beautiful with the best tea, coffee and biscuits I've ever had in a hotel. The room had a lovely air flow with a cool breeze on a warm evening. Comfy bed and a perfect weight of duvet. The Team were so friendly and even let us watch the rugby at the bar with a delicious recommended brandy. Breakfast was super - best scrambled egg I've had for years. Advice about parking was very well received and they even throw in a parking pass. I would recommend Plato's fab family team and will definitely be staying there again.

We loved everything

The location was charming and ideal for the town. The bar was very nice indeed and the young people staffing were charming and obliging. The room was small but very nicely presented. The bed we found extremely comfortable.

The inclusive breakfast was not served until 8:30am on Saturday morning which meant we had to buy breakfast out, as we had to leave at 8:30am to attend an event. This seemed very late to us to begin serving breakfast. We were also unable to get any kind of taxi service or Uber to or from the location so keep this in mind. The hotel staff are unable to help with this.

Everything, the room was immaculately clean. The bed was big and comfortable. The windows opened wide to let enough breeze in. The bathroom had enough shelf space for all the hair care and skin care products 😂 the lady who showed us to our room was lovely and explained where to find the car park and the fact you get a permit for not just there but other car parks is a bonus!

No air con but nothing a cool breeze couldn’t sort out, I’m a hot sleeper so air conditioner is always a nice luxury when staying away because I don’t have the luxury at home haha!

We had attended a Wake nearby with friends and family and Platos was a great location to stay. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. In the evening friends came to join us for a meal in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Our Room was very cozy and very clean. The breakfast next morning was excellent (Full English). Thank you.

Just one light not working in Room 1 (table lamp for writing). We left a hand-written review in our room on vacating to say that it was not working). It also would have helped if our room/bathroom had been pre-heated prior to our arrival but we managed to sort it.

THE place to stay in Kirkby L. It feels like home as soon as you put your bags down, and the staff could not be more helpful. We'd both had a frantic week leading up to our trip and on being shown to our 'Compact/Bijout' room, my partner was slightly disappointed there was no bath (a very swish en-suite shower, however..?). A quick word with our delightful host and she wangled a one-night swap..to the room we had for my 60th, 2yrs before! Thank you, so much. Finally, the dinner we had on the Saturday was one of the most memorable of our 10yrs together. Delicious!

My previous reviews of Plato's always mention the sumptuous breakfasts, so we feel mean mentioning that they aren't what they used to be. Quality and freshness are as good as ever, but the choice is quite limited. There will be good reasons for this I'm sure, but the home-made granola/compote was way too sweet for my taste. I'll just stick to the yoghurt next time - oh yes, we'll be back!

Food was excellent, enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. Room clean and warm. good shower facilities. Staff very friendly and good service.

Service in restaurant needs to be considered with regard to provision of necessary needs. Eg. sufficient crockery, toast in rack, warm hand bowl following mussels meal. Members of staff and family entering food preparation area in outside clothing, cooking own food, no visible hand wash. Door to cellar left open creating risk for person past on way to stairs and bar area.

quaint old building sympathetically restored into a clean and modern hotel. liked the decor. Room and bathroom clean and nicely presented. Bed comfortable. Good quality bedding and towels. Tea, coffee,hot chocolate and bottled water provided and replenished daily. Small fridge provided. Good breakfast, staff in bar and restaurant very welcoming and attentive.

small niggle. The bread for the toast served with breakfast was not good. just tasted like ordinary cheap sliced supermarket bread. spoilt an otherwise exceptionally good breakfast.

Very friendly staff who worked hard to look after us. The comfort of the bed was superb and the room facilities were excellent. The quality of the breakfast was amazing and the complimentary tea and coffee was a bonus. Fantastic location and the car park was only a short walk away. The hotel was extremely clean and we would definitely stay there again.

The jet washing of the courtyard could have been done in an afternoon and not early morning. It was pretty noisy. Main toilet facilities could be upgraded.

The service was excellent. We were greeted by the owner who stored our bags until we checked in & then carried them up to our room. All staff were friendly & professional. Evening meal & breakfast were really good too. We had a king size room at the front of the building which was beautifully decorated with all the facilities you could need. We had our two dogs with us. The hotel provided dog beds & treats & we ate in the bar area with them. Nothing was too much trouble.

It was perfect nothing not to like.

We've stayed at Plato's on many occasions. All the rooms we've stayed in have had a luxurious feel, they support a local business called Bath house for their toiletries which are excellent. The staff have always been friendly and helpful A special mention to the breakfast cook on this visit. She was fabulous, from taking our order,, cooking and serving a delicious breakfast. In a professional but friendly manner Plato's is in a lovely position and Kirkby Lonsdale is a wonderful place to visit and stay.
