The location of the hotel The cleanliness of the room Comfortable bed Good breakfast

We come here for 1 night every year I’m August because we like the hotel and it’s lovation but the staff change from year to year and some of them don’t make you feel particularly welcome. The young lady behind the bar last night looked bored and tired. When I asked if we could check out this morning one of the staff said just leave you key there pointing to a table. Charming! No thank you or did you enjoy your stay or anything. Luckily for us we go abroad a couple of times a year where the service is absolutely top notch and where you are welcomed with open arms

The hotel was in a central location on the town square. The room was small but functional and clean. The bar had a good selection of cask beers and the breakfast was excellent.

The real kick in the teeth was having booked in April paying £135 for bed and breakfast we found on arrival that the hotel had an offer on for new bookings £123 for dinner bed and breakfast, the value of the dinner was £20 each. In effect we paid £52 a night more than we should have done. The staff whilst sounding concerned made no effort to look at how they could improve our position. This left a very sour taste over 2 nights the extra cost was £104 Will I use booking.com in the future ? First check directly with the hotel to see if any offers are available.

We liked the situation overlooking the square. The hotel is the focal point of the town. The refurbishment of the interior has been carried out in a sensitive manner. The interior decoration is exquisite and blends well with the architectural character of the building. It's the sort of place where you could settle down with a good book in front of the fire and no one would bother you. The staff are excellent, attentive without being intrusive. The food is superb and reasonably price. There is a good selection of beers and wines albeit on the upper range of the price scale. Morning coffee was perfect with little complementary gingerbread biscuits. These appeared to be popular with non-residents who joined in the morning coffee and read the morning papers in the snug. On the whole a very informal, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We stayed in bedroom 3 on the first floor which two large windows overlooking the square. Good parking is available in the square. Can't wait to return.

We would have liked another chair in our bedroom so both of us could have sat and watched the goings on in the square, particularly on market day.

Location was excellent. in the heart of the town. Room was spacious overlooking the market square.

Parking is a pain. I paid for parking in the market square. Then realised it was market day the following morning so had to park elsewhere and pay again. In the morning I could only extend parking on the app for 1 hour so felt like I was constantly checking whether I needed to add more time. Not really the hotels fault but there are a number of small boutique hotel rooms and it must be difficult for everyone.

Central location in Kirby Lonsdale. Comfortable lounge and dining areas and well furnished throughout. Spacious bedroom and en-suite wet room (room number 1) accessible via lift. Excellent breakfast and enjoyable evening meal. Friendly and pleasant staff. Overall, we were very happy with our choice for our overnight stay.

The hotel doesn’t have its own car park and on a busy weekend the market square car park opposite was full. We found a public car park further up the hill but it did mean carrying our luggage quite a distance. Not a major issue but just something to be aware of.

Really lovely hotel - building, decor/ style & location! Large comfortable room, with super comfy bed (we asked for details of the mattress as we found it soooo comfortable). Nice, reasonably priced food and ales. Staff generally helpful & friendly. we would definitely stay again if we are in the area!

Receptionist absent when we arrived, we asked for assistance and were told she was ‘in a meeting and would be a few minutes. We waited, then asked again, to be told she was ‘having a chat’ and would come soon. When she finally came, we were promptly dealt with but offered no explanation or apology, which would have been nice under the circumstances. It would have been nice if the room had some natural ventilation, rather than just a fan, all the windows (incl shower room) were sealed shut.

From the minute we checked in we were made to feel extremely welcome in this spacious and comfortable hotel. The staff were, without exception, very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were good and we had dinner on both evenings in the busy bar area. There was a nice mix of tourists and locals of all ages. The hotel is in a wonderful position in the centre of town and it was very relaxing to sit outside at the front with our drinks. Both our room and the bathroom were well fitted and comfortable although we thought the steps up to the sunken shower/bath were a potential hazard!

Nothing, it was all to a high standard.

Central position. Evening meal excellent. Pleasant staff

Cooked breakfast overcooked. Luke warm first morning but although hotter second overcooked verging on burnt. Dog friendly policy not to everyone's liking. Don't dislike dogs but prefer not to share my meals in their company. Definitely a doggy smell around the hotel.

The room was excellent , top floor, overlooking the market square. Furniture, fixtures, decoration, all excellent. The en suite bathroom of a high quality. The choice of hot food at breakfast was excellent and all cooked to order, no hot buffet here.

The bar/restaurant area felt like it did not know what it wanted to be, were you supposed to order at the bar or find a table and be served there. All the staff were very friendly and helpful but there appeared no leadership as to who was doing what . This said we enjoyed our time here.

Location - couldn’t be better Staff - everyone was lovely, helpful and friendly Food (breakfast) was gorgeous Atmosphere - felt right at home, great building with history and character Room great, lovely linen, comfy bed, nice atmosphere. Bar and Guest lounge just great. We looked around a couple of weeks prior to booking and the manager really sold it so we booked in. We loved it and will be back.

Was awkward to use bath/shower (3 steps), and adjusting hot and cold water was difficult plus no plug to use bath, otherwise spacious and good towels. No on site parking though pay and display nearby.
