Escape Boutique B&B

Made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived. The room was lovely, clean, and comfortable. Had wine on ice that I pre ordered and a card and chocolates of the host, which was a lovely touch. Breakfast was very nice. The staff were lovely and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Everything was just a small walk away. Loved how each room was unique. Also loved the honesty bar where you could get drinks and snacks if required. We would definitely stay here again.

There was not much I didn't like about this place. Perhaps a nice seating area outside would be nice.

absolutely fantastic hotel we arrived early as we were coming on the train and asked if we could drop off our bags they kindly let us into our room early which was fantastic the garden at the front of the hotel is beautiful many original features kept in the downstairs area and some stunning stained glass windows we stayed in room one which was lovely it was spotlessly clean and very well decorated the view was fantastic the wireless charging on both sides of the bed was great we weren’t expecting that at all it was very quiet at night and we both slept really well the breakfast was lovely and the staff were very attentive and very well organised overall a fantastic stay and we will definitely be back

not a criticism at all but just so others are aware when booking there are a number of steps leading up to the entrance and no lift inside so not suitable for people with mobility problems or health issues that make it difficult to climb stairs

Location and service were excellent and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Sam, the owner recommended lots of places to visit and that was so helpful. Breakfast had variety and was really tasty

The only thing I’d change is the bed. I’m very particular about mattresses being less soft as I get body pains on soft mattresses but that’s just a personal preference. For the price per night, we also thought it that the rooms should have a fridge in them. But we can appreciate it’s a small town and tourist accommodations are pricier for lesser.

It's a beautiful property, exquisite lounge and dining areas. Room 8 has a roll top bath and abstract wallpaper. Smallish room but not a problem for us. Nice and quiet. Decent tea selection. Would have liked a pack of biscuits each as they were so delicious! The room had a slight musty smell, perhaps as the bathroom was open plan with the bedroom and we had difficulty opening the bathroom window. The toilet was separate though, what a relief! Breakfast was great, you have to ask for some things, such as cereal and fruit juices, rather than seeing the options laid out on the buffet area for self service. This would help free up the waiting staff during a busy service, although it was actually quiet when we breakfasted with only one other couple in the dining room. Overall a good stay. Very warm welcome and shown around the facilities. Loved the map and list of great local restaurants, many of which we tried and proved to be lovely. Tea and coffee in the rooms with biscuits and water. Minibar in lounge. We asked to move rooms simply because the one we were initially put in wasn’t our style, it’s best really to indicate this beforehand after looking online. Being a boutique hotel the rooms are very different. Our wish was granted, very happy the rooms was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was lovely and staff very friendly.

would be lovely to have a bath and shower but look closely as some rooms only have one or the other.

The breakfast was beautifully cooked and excellent quality food. I had porridge, which for me has to be made in a specific way! It was perfect, large portion and creamy served with maple syrup. We had a peek into some of the bedrooms which weren’t occupied. They were all very stylish and clean including our room. The weather was freezing outside but our room was lovely and warm. Parking on the premises is a big bonus and very convenient for all amenities. The building is beautiful with all the original features which gave it a lovely cosy feel. The staff were really nice and helpful, nothing was too much trouble accompanied with a lovely smile, which always goes a long way!

The friendliness of the staff, the amazing decor, very homely place and comfortable to stay, great breakfast, coffee was wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. The decor of the hotel was beautiful, true to its history with some modern twists, a real pleasure to be in. Our room was a great size with high ceilings and the modern fan was a great touch with bottled water provided daily.

We would have preferred a shower on the wall not attached to the roll top bath.

We were greeted on arrival by the owner Tina who explained everything we needed to know during our stay, showed us to our rooms and checked if we needed any further information on restaurants , bars etc as the town was busy due to a Rock concert at the civic hall. The staff were all very friendly and attentive at breakfast time. All aspects of the B & B were excellent including rooms, breakfast and service. They even had a honesty box bar if you wanted to have a last drink to end your day.

Could not fault anything

The B&B was amazing. Tina the host was so welcoming and gave us a tour. She then gave us a list of restaurants close by which was helpful and helped us out with the quickest way to get to places. Breakfast was out of this world with a perfect view and there was so much choice even for small eaters like me. I couldn't fault the hotel at all it was clean and tidy and all the staff were so welcoming. I definitely recommend and would return

The only problem we found was parking on the first day. However, we arrived on a Saturday and as Tina told us it's because the locals use that road as its free parking. However, we managed to get parked every other day that we were there.

Not your usual B&B. The hosts are welcoming and friendly ,if you need anything just ask. The "hotel" is boutique and spotless, modern rooms and bathrooms, certainly not small, recently refurbished. Facilities in the room are good, as are the toiletries and the towels. Pillows and bedding, top quality. Honesty bar, including snacks! Lovely breakfast, varied choice, you wont leave breakfast hungry, served in a lovely dinning room. Nice quite location in a nice area, and only 2 mins to a good pub, and 5 mins into town. If you need to park on the road (as we did) it looks like a safe area.

Only negative we could up with was, the room could have used a little more storage (drawer unit).
