everything was clean It looked like it had just been refurbished with everything new.

The room I was given was a family room and seemed , for me anyway, to lack the facilities if a family had been in the room. There were only 2 hangers in the wardrobe unit. there was only a ring towel holder which was fine for me but I’m not sure where other family members would hang there towel and no hand towel rail. I didn’t like the small cloakroom sink as there was more than enough space for a full sized one. The kettle ( boiler) had to be filled with a glass. plus there was no housekeeping or replenishment of tea, coffee etc. I was not informed about this when I checked in.

Although we arrived early our room was ready, the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was freshly refurbished so it was up to date, clean and bright, the usual facilities, TV, kettle with selection of coffee and tea, soap, shower gel and shampoo. Very comfortable bed and pillows, overall a very good stay and we will return I'm sure. Breakfast was ample and lots of hot toast.

As the property is in the process of refurbishment there were just a couple of small snagging jobs to be completed in the bathroom, it needed towel rails and a peg on the back of the door for your bathrobe etc. I had a chat with the lovely landlady and she was aware of these issues and they are working to complete all outstanding niggles, they have only been in situ for 8 weeks so I fully expect upon our next visit all this will be finished. Thank you Nicola and all the other staff.

Breakfast was lovely, really set me up for the day. The staff were very attentive and answered all questions about “how far is/where can I get”. The room cleaner was very happy to offer any help should we need it. Kitchen and bar staff very nice.

Jeeez, the bed. I must say, I found signs (eg. Mind the step and WiFi) were missing, but they were not, I just did not see them. But, the bed, the bed, lovely as it was, it sounded like I was sleeping on a gravel road, the springs when one just moved slightly were very noisy, keep waking me up noisy.

Recently refurbished rooms done in a nice shade of grey with some yellow splashes of colour. Warm, clean bathroom with walk in shower and toiletries. Electric "kind of kettle" (beware that you need to put your mug there as soon as you switch it on, as the hot water is discharged automatically!!!!), hearty tasty full English breakfast (additional cost, needs to be booked on arrival). Very important - lovely friendly hosts who made us feel very welcome, and free parking - all fully in line with the descriptions and photos. Really good value for money!

Cannot really expect lots of additional comforts for the very reasonable rate they are charging! Hence there is no hair dryer e.g. or a bedside light, for a night or two stay it is not a big deal. The only thing that does not cost that much but would be really helpful - at least one hook in the bathroom to put up your towel - I had to put mine on the toilet seat lid while taking a shower, not ideal...

The property is a half pub half hotel which is located 50m from a large supermarket and other ideal places. I stayed in the family room as I was a late booking and it had no complaints what so ever. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

I have read that this establishment has recently been refurbished so I have nothing to complain about. The other thing I may suggest to try and help them is possibly add small bins into bathrooms and have more towels on hand for guests in their rooms.

We liked the friendly atmosphere, from staff to the local clientele. The rooms were all done up to a good standard. There's a little terrace outside we used every day for a pint, because we had brilliant weather. We had a meal every day in the hotel which was well prepared pub food. We did not have breakfast because we were out early every day. The hotel is less than 30 mins drive from the Peak District

Nothing to do with the hotel really. Staveley is a struggling town and the hotel together with the huge Morissons are the highlights. The 2 other pubs definitely don't have the same welcoming atmosphere as the bar in the hotel.

Attending a family wedding in Sheffield and due to excessive costs at hotels in Sheffield (2 adults, 2 kids, one room) we looked a little further afield. Wedding was at 12.30pm so messaged the hotel the day before to ask if we could drop bags off around 11am. This was no problem and when we arrived at 11ish, not only was our room ready but they arranged a taxi for us in to Sheffield. Really friendly staff, great room for what we needed, really clean and even taking in to account return taxi fares, still very reasonably priced. Would recommend.

Only (tiny) issue was that the room would benefit from a mirror in the main bedroom space.

Excellent value for money. Our room was away from the main road so nice and quiet. Although there was a function on the night we stayed we heard absolutely nothing from the pub below. More than adequate cooked breakfast which was very reasonably priced at £6 a head.

There is a separate entrance to the rooms so you don't have to go through the bar area but the door lock was a bit temperamental during our stay.

We cycled from York to Staveley and Harleys was the perfect location. We were met with a real warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Our bikes were locked in a room overnight which worked brilliantly. We had the best breakfast and our really early start was accommodated too. We also ate in the evening and the food was great. Rooms were very clean and just what was needed after a long day's cycling. Definitely recommend.

Very comfortable room, spotlessly clean and appeared newly renovated. Staff were friendly as were the locals at the pub who I spoke to. Although it is a pub and there was some faint noise as there was an event on, it did not disturb my evening or sleep. Supermarket is a 2 minute walk away and good access to get around Derbyshire (chatsworth, hardwick & Derby)
