Days Inn Hotel Sheffield South

Everything about the stay itself was wonderful. We had a clean room with a decent WiFi conection 9allowing me to complete some tasks that needed doing and the staff were beyond helpful.

I returned from the rest of the trip (our stay was the start of a tour of Yorkshire and Derbyshire) to receive a letter from the parking enforcement company used by Days Inn, billing me £100 for illegally parking my car. When we checked in we input our registration number as requested and booked in for a two-night stay. The stress of having to deal with this - (all credit to the staff member to whom I spoke, they cancelled it immediately and I await my letter confirming this) has completely ruined the "vacation high" on the day I returned to work.

We were on a family visit, so just looking for a place with easy car connections to the area, and with this location right by the motorway we certainly found that. But I was surprised how pleasant it looked: nothing but beautiful green countryside from our window! The room was also comfortable and spotless, with coffee/tea making facility. But most of all, I was absolutely delighted with the super friendly and helpful reception staff. This really made our stay a joy.

There is no breakfast provided, so maybe an automat at the reception with biscuits/croissant etc options would have been nice. But the Welcome Break motorway facilities are just a short stroll away, so not a big issue.

Better than expected, and very well kept, the receptionist (Katie) was efficient, courteous and friendly, made you feel very welcome. Room was very comfortable and extremely clean. The hotel sits in its own grounds with a field next to it handy for dog walks.The services which is a short walk, couple of minutes away has kfc & Burger King and there is also a pet friendly pub 5 minutes away that do food.

Staff here are always friendly and welcoming. Location is convenient when motorway travelling. Prices are very reasonable and rooms are good value. Use the Good to Go app for a bargain take away services breakfast when available.

The only thing I don't like is crossing the lorry park to get to the services shops. I didn't spot the marked walk way to begin with which was my error. I noticed the shop at the petrol station on the way back which would have been quicker

The first time I stayed here I wasn't expecting much.... hotel in a motorway service area? Although I don't live in the area, work-wise I am based within 20 miles of this hotel. This is my go-to location, clean, welcoming, clean, warm/ or cool, and with a bath if you fancy a soak after a long day. I have been coming here for over a year now, the staff are the same friendly people, which speaks volumes!

To be honest there wasn't anything I would fault

The refillable bottles used to supply guests with hand soap and shower gel / shampoo. The room and corridor were cool, despite the hot weather. Bed was clean and comfortable. Very happy with supply of towels and bath mat. Staff were very happy and easily explained any questions we had.

The room seemed generally tired and well used. The chair and convertable sofa were well warn and uninviting to sit on. The TV remote could have done with a good clean between the buttons. Mattress was a bit hard and pillows a bit too filled - but this is personal preference.

Very warm welcome from lady on reception, who also made checking in hassle free and smooth. Great free parking outside the front door. Very peaceful location, no traffic noise at all even though it's not far from the motorway or the filling station. Warm and comfortable good nights sleep. Would definitely use it again.

Nothing about the hotel or staff. Just 'my mistake' - it was the wrong side of the motorway as I was traveling north and needed an overnights stay near to Sheffield for an early hospital appointment the next day. Bit of a faff driving up the motorway and coming back down, but my fault not the hotels. I thought you could access the hotel from both sides of the motorway via a bridge/footbridge. What a whally!

The room was spacious and clean. It was furnished to a very good standard (even included a trouser press!) and the bathroom was spotless. The Receptionists were welcoming and friendly.

The hotel, although set in the grounds of the M1 Services was not easy to locate. It would have been helpful to receive clearer directions as to where to find the hotel at the time of booking. The room I had was very quiet but then the next morning I discovered that the motorway had been closed overnight!

It’s in a good location. Very basic but just what we needed.

I know it’s cheap and you expect basic, but I felt it could have been cleaner. It didn’t seem like it’d had a good clean in a while in the room, there was some marks on the sink and floor in the bathroom which I thought might have been blood. They came off when I wiped them with a wipe so the bathroom obviously hadn’t had a good clean between occupants.

Room Clean and comfortable. Bed very good. Tea coffee facilities very welcome. Always very helpful when you are happy to take the dogs, also a good area outside and dog bin for the necessary - great.

Only thing disappointing was the price for the dogs. Surely £15 per dog more than a kennel for a night ?????? Our well behaved dogs were only there for one night EXPENSIVE !!!!!!
