What can I say. This place was absolutely fantastic, it was really like stepping back in time. What a beautiful building. The staff were amazing. We were looked after by Lola who is really lovely, she is a jewel from Italia. The food was amazing, we had the Venison which was delicious. The Breakfast is also a feast on its own and then again served by really friendly, helpful staff. Thanks for making this a very memorable overnight stop. Shall definitely be returning.

Nothing at all, everything was just perfect.

The main Inn is truly spectacular and does not not disappoint - I doubt there is a better preserved medieval inn in the country. When you step out into the cobbled courtyard with the tiny doors, dining hall and 'dungeon' bar, you really feel like you've stepped back a few centuries. There is nothing medieval about the food however, which was the other highlight. Breakfasts were exceptional - as good as any brunch cafe in any city - as were the dinners. I recommend branching out from the burgers and fish n chips on the menu (you can get that anywhere) and trying the flat iron chicken with chorizo polenta - sensational

The bed. We stayed in the coach house opposite. The room was fine but the bed was very uncomfortable - hard and springy - you can feel the springs. We both slept badly and woke with backache. At this price I expect a decent mattress. Also, as the inn is on a junction on a hill the road noise was worse than one would think for such a location, although they've done their best to dampen it with double glazing

A little noise from the room above initially it sounded like a lot of children running around but after a while it stopped and we realised it wasn't children but probably an elderly couple making the noise getting around in an old building where the floors are not sound insulated... The food was exceptional, both Dinner and Breakfast, the staff were fantastic at all times, our only complaint, this was passed on when we checked out, was that the room lighting was very low, especially in the bed area, all it needed was for a higher wattage LED lamp to be fitted and it would have made a massive difference. Everything in the Hotel was first class even to the fresh milk in the fridge instead of the usual little pots of uht milk. all in all we will definitely be going back and shall also be looking at other BUTCOME managed Hotels to visit...

The lighting as mentioned above.

Our stay at the George Inn was a highlight of my birthday weekend trip. We loved the history of the place and how they’ve maintained that charm instead of trying to modernise. The furniture and decor was all perfect. Beyond that, our room (Samuel Pepys room) was spotlessly clean. Living in an old house and having stayed in many historic hotels, I know keeping up with dust alone is a constant battle, so we were quite impressed. Additionally we were very pleased with the food at breakfast and dinner. Really good quality. What really made the stay excellent however was the staff. They were all phenomenal - friendly, helpful, truly above and beyond. We will definitely be returning.

It is a beautifully renovated building, keeping the historical features. Lots of points of information about the history of the site. The staff were super friendly and super helpful, Lola was great. She really stood out, a real asset. The room, as was the rest of the hotel, was really clean and comfortable. Points of interesting history were outlined so you could try and imagine what it was like. It was a really amazing and fascinating stay. Loved it

If I had to be picky and it would be me being picky, then just a smidge more food on the plate, apart from that the only other thing was we were there for only one night. Wish it could have been longer. Other than that, I loved it and will be coming back

Particularly appreciated 'proper' toilet paper, not the rice paper you often get elsewhere. Also liked the choice of toiletries in the bathroom, not the usual corporate small bottles that smell like a chemistry experiment. I particularly liked having proper coffee to make in a cafetiere in my room. These small things, often overlooked by other establishments, make all the difference.

I can't really find anything to fault here. A personal preference only, I would have like a safety grab rail in the bath - I guess the clientele are going to be in the 'older' bracket.

We booked two rooms in this historic and quirky hotel. We had the Coach House which is a quaint little side room with it's own access and an extremely efficient shower, and the King Charles room at the top of the winding stairs which had a high ceiling and a bath tub. Both rooms were furnished in keeping with the historic nature of the building, both beds extremely comfortable. The property has a large car park and guests can also use the additional car park at the rear of the Fleur de Llys public house opposite which is owned by the same people. As for the location the George is ideally positioned for visiting Frome, Bath and Warminster and is very close to Longleat.

There was nothing we didn't like. the entire place is exceptional.

Beautiful hotel and location. Ideal as a base for trips out into Bath and Bradford on Avon. Staff were so helpful. Exceptional service on what turned out to be a heatwave. I felt for all the staff. They deserved medals A special mention for the kitchen staff who delivered some of the most delicious meals we've had in a long time, under extreme circumstances. We stayed in the Plaine in one of their boutique rooms. It was beautiful. Nice touches with processco and beer free on the hotel in the fridge. Lovely shortbread and high end tea and coffee. All in all we will be back.

This place was Incredible, such a deluxe experience for the price! room was clean and comfortable with lots of complementary welcome snacks and drinks The shower was perfect, the bed was a dream, but where the place really shined was the staff nothing was too big or too small and they were so knowledgeable when it came to the history of the innn and the area and we're happy to tell us about with enthusiasm. They saved us so much time by helping us find the right root to bath. There is a bus stop literally across the road which is 10 minutes to the city centre. We have the pleasure of eating there and at first we thought it was expensive until the food arrived the quality is exceptional. The only other time me and my partner, had somthing that's similar was in one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants in London. It was absolutely delicious and filling and all the produce on our plate was fresh. The inn has to be seen to be believed including a chocolate box view from the back to the nearby church. We cannot wait to go again it had quickly become our favourite place we have ever stayed.

Booking.com made it look like that we might be staying in the inn itself. However, this is minor as the rooms that we were staying in across the road where absolutely incredible

Very friendly welcome, the rooms were nice and warm on a very cold day. The historic building is full of character and the room was of a good size with a modern shower room. Good quality accessories such as tea/coffee facilities with fresh milk, large towels etc. Breakfast was very nice.

Due to a kitchen malfunction there was a very limited menu and our chosen dish had to be returned as it was not fully heated. However the staff were very apologetic and we were given complimentary desserts. When we returned home we had received an answerphone message warning us of the situation and offering the opportunity to cancel our booking, which was very considerate. Real log fires in the amazing fireplaces would have been a nice addition to the atmosphere.
