Great North Hotel

Absolutely first class. As a disabled man I tend to worry about where I go, I arrived at the Great North Hotel to find that the lift had failed. Staff immediately offered to help me upstairs and carry my bags. What could have been a real problem was sorted immediately and without drama. Massive thank you to Amanda and Anne who simply could not have done more for us. Rooms were simply immaculate. The breakfasts were amazing, (I pride myself on my cooking). Definitely on my list of top places to stay. A1++++

We were given an adjoining family room. The hotel was newly furnished and well proportioned and the rooms clean and comfortable. The staff were very kind and helpful. The facilities on site were very good. There was plenty of choice for breakfast.

Really friendly, accommodating staff and great facilities. The bar has a really nice atmosphere and the breakfasts are definitely worth paying the extra for. Would highly recommend.

We paid for breakfast on the first day to be delivered to the room and it was really good value and our special requests were adhered to. There were great package options to make the room special for our anniversary which were amazing too. The size of the room was plentiful and it was always cleaned to a high standard, the bathroom was beautiful and the TV was smart so there were loads of options to watch! Overall it was a really pleasant stay (and loads of free parking too!). It was a short drive into the city but we ventured future afield for much of this trip so it was a perfect base for that too!

Honestly, it was totally great. The drive up to the hotel was a touch annoying as you had to turn around at the nearest roundabout but nothing the hotel can do about road design!

Very well presented. Clean and smart. The staff were all very friendly. The rooms were very comfortable. I would highly recommend the breakfast.

High standard of rooms and meals. ALL staff were efficient, friendly, cheerful and obliging.

Those who have given a 'poor' rating must be professional whingers. There's always someone.

We loved our room which was classed as a 'Junior Suite' - The Regent. It was a corner room with 3 windows. We loved the beautiful big white fluffy gowns and slippers and the Arran toiletries were really lovely. Excellent shower and decent sized bath towels which were clean and good quality. We loved the giant bed with crisp clean linen. Room was spotlessly clean with tea/coffee making. Nice to have a big screen TV although we didn't watch it. Complimentary bottled water too. The mini fridge was very welcome/useful. The most amazing thing was the air conditioning which was quiet and fabulous. We were overjoyed to see that there was a 'Vegan full English breakfast' on the menu too. The guy on reception when we arrived was brilliant and helpful. As was the friendly woman serving our breakfast.

It would have been good to have somewhere in our room to sit and relax - there was a narrow fabric bench at the bottom of the bed but it wasn't ideal like a settee or a couple of comfy chairs would have been. Our Vegan breakfast sadly was not worth our excitement as it was undercooked and barely warm. 2 recovering hash browns, pale baked beans, a mushroom and half of a tomato. Toast. The woman serving us was so lovely that we didn't dare mention our dissatisfaction - it was no big deal really. The vegan sausages were like the ones from the 1970's when Plant Based food was only just catching on (dry and anxious looking) and the wilted spinach mentioned on the menu was amusingly watercress and lambs lettuce. Chef showed initiative by using something 'green' though :-)

Rooms were great . All staff were friendly. The food was very good . Im vegetarian, and the choice they had was fabulous, plenty of parking and very nice outdoor spaces

An hotel with the adjoining Three Mile complex of restaurants and pub. Location near Metro Regent Centre and busy bus routes on the former Great North Road. Car not necessary - easy to get into and out of Newcastle and cover most of the regional attractions using buses, Metro and trains. Excellent welcome and freely offered advice. Comfortable rooms, great breakfast and many good restaurants nearby including the on-site Dough House. Ptice for accommodation far lower than city centre chain hotels.

Building rather foreboding and our room small and dark although comfortable.
