Canal Court

We have stayed there before. Great location, by Newry's canal, near the town centre. The room was clean and comfortable and big enough to relax in. Reception was amazing, let us check in early after an early morning ferry and a few hours doing sightseeing in other towns. They were also great at letting us know when relatives had called in to see us. The laundry service was quick and cheap. The swimming pool is excellent. The bar areas are beautiful, and lively, and the bar food great. We also ate in the restaurant one night, and the food was amazing. There is free parking, which is always a bonus. I recommend the Canal Court to anybody wanting to stay in Newry.

Myself and my partner have stayed here on many occasions now..and at different times of the year..it is always great..the rooms are excellent and the meals are exquisite...and u will never find a more helpful staff anywhere else..nothings a problem...there is also a carvery every day from midday..the food is excellent..and the desserts are great..breakfasts always have like a buffet..fresh fruit..cereals..teas.coffees..fresh orange juice..the frys are great..omelets etc.you will struggle to find fault anywhere in this hotel..the staff are a credit..book this place now !!!

The Canal Court is very well located in the centre of Newry, is easy to find and has good car parking facilities. My room was very spacious, comfortable and clean - functional, not luxurious but matching its star rating. All the staff encountered at reception, in the breakfast room and bar were all very friendly and professional. There is a good range of snacks available in the bar and what I had met my needs. Similarly for breakfast, there is a good cold buffet and plenty of options for a good cooked breakfast.

The hotel is very dated and would benefit from an investment in new décor, carpets and furniture both in the general areas, bar, restaurant and bedrooms. The property is expensive for what it offers.

The hotel, staff, room and facilities were fantastic. It was great to have a such a well equipped gym pool and spa on site. I didn't get to use the wet areas, but did manage a gym session. There were a few other guests there which made it a bit cramped, but for a hotel gym, this was pretty good.

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and I love hotel breakfasts, so was looking forward to this. Sad to say, it was a disappointment. I had the full Irish and it was all a bit "rubbery". It just felt like it was sitting under heat lamps for way too long, which was surprising as it was not quick in coming after I ordered it.

Entrance hall was lovely. Large stair case and lobby area. Bar was good with great live entertainment. Room very comfortable with plenty of space and facilities. Complimentary bottled water provided. Breakfast selection was great and a cooked breakfast of the menu available to order.

Signs to spa and breakfast room very poor. Too many children in the spa area. Splashing in the pool. Taking over the hot tub and steam room. Not a relaxing environment for adults. Didn't realise when I booked there would be children allowed in hot tub etc.

The cleanliness was very good. It was, however, done late in the afternoon, so I had to wait to enjoy/rest in the room, depending on when it was done. There is a desk of appropriate size for working and dedicated light. The reception personnel were attentive to resolving matters and explaining what to expect. Parking lot was easy to locate, and a spot was always available. The exit to the car park needs guidance - if you make a left turn, you are going into another carpark!

The cleaning can be done earlier in the day. The dinner service could have been improved for quicker service by adding immediate personnel, especially when unexpected large groups arrive.

Genuine hospitality from all the staff. One felt that every member of the hotel team really wanted to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible—reception, bar and restaurant staff, cleaning staff, no exceptions. The hotel is beautiful inside with tasteful classic decor and spacious guest rooms and lounges. We ate in the Granary bar, which is extensive and, although busy, very friendly (staff and clientele). Food was delicious at both evening and breakfast meals. The impression of longstanding quality extends to the bedrooms, which although old were clean and very well maintained. Very satisfactory bathroom toiletries and in-room tea/coffee with biscuits. Bath robes and slippers in the wardrobe. Comfortable room chairs, table and desk. All lights and switches working.

Nothing to complain about, except not staying longer!

The hotel staff were amazing. It was myself and my partners 6 year anniversary and we had been welcomed eith a card and a box of chocolates, we thought this touch was amazing. We theoughyly enjoyed the hotels spa facilities, what bettter way to begin your stay than a hot tub. Food was absolutley fantastic, the hotels granary bar was brillaint with a great family atmosphere and live music. We will definatly return in the future! Thank you canal court for our brilliant day.

We found the bed rather uncomfortable aswell as the pillows we felt they were quite firm and not soft. Although we still had a fantastic stay anyhow.

Was nothing to dislike..we've stayed a number of times..and it's excellent. .and what makes it excellent is the wonderful friendly staff..the staff can't do enough to make your stay wonderful ..very attentive everybody from reception staff to bar staff and restaurant staff and it was very busy over the valentines day period..I couldn't fault anything..will be back soon..☺

The room was a great size, lovely canal view too. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom was spacious too. we had dinner in the Old Mill Restaurant which was brilliant. so much value for money as alongside your order we were presented with options of mashed potatoes, chips and mixed vegetables making the portions massive! Breakfast the following morning was lovely too, decent sized portions and the option of continental if you wish.

The only issue we had was the noise in the corridor through the night with some slightly rowdier guests not having indoor voices at 2/3am... however the staff were on it quickly (without complaint from ourselves) as we could hear them trying to locate the room responsible.
