Flagstaff Lodge

The family room was large and the beds comfortable. Having just spent most of the day driving that was appreciated. Because the hotel has a bar and restaurant as part of it, we didn't need to go anywhere for dinner or to unwind. Breakfast in the morning was also lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A lovely stop!

There's not really anywhere to walk to from the hotel, for siteseeing, and along a relatively busy road if just for sheer legstretching, so bear that in mind before you arrive. But a minor concern.

What a Gem of a hotel. I rarely if ever write a review but here we go. I honestly cannot speak highly enough of the staff in this hotel. They just understand customer service and I’ve not experienced service like this in a long long time. A fabulously decorated and maintained bar and dining area. The bedroom and bed was extremely comfortable, complimentary water, crisp fresh sheets. Fluffy towels and a spotless bathroom. Breakfast was delicious, fresh and presented by a chef who cared and served by a waitress who was equally as caring. I very much hope my travels take me back this way. Well done to all !

We were travelling from South Tipp so we got to the hotel after 8pm. The lady who met us at reception was so nice and asked if we needed food. We had stopped in Dublin so we were fine but she then asked the kids if they wanted some cereal before bed and took my youngest off to go get some and bring it back to the room. I never caught her name but Harvey is telling everyone about the lady in the hotel giving him cereal so she has earned a few new fans.

Didn't like that we had to go home after only a short stay but we'll absolutely be back again. Great hotel.

The location was great...near Newgrange and Drogheda as well as on the way to Belfast. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The staff could not have been any better. Be sure to eat at their restaurant. It should be rated at least a 4 star.

The only drawback was the lack of air conditioning, which is common to Northern Ireland and Ireland. We would have liked to have had a hair dryer because ours had the wrong plug. At reception, however , a staff member gave our teenagers an adaptor for their phones to charge, which made them very happy!

This hotel is very convenient - just off the main road. The room was spacious and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant on Sat night - there was a great selection and the food was good. It was busy and there was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. The staff were friendly. There was a good choice for breakfast - the hot food was cooked to order and was very good. It would be a great base to explore Newry and the surrounding area.

It would be good if there were USB chargers in the room.

I always get a lovely, friendly welcome when I arrive. Regina called to check if I was coming as I arrived late which was a nice touch. All the team are friendly and helpful. The rooms are immaculate, smell beauty and are exceptional. The service is always great whatever time you're there. Highly recommend this lovely hotel and all the team.

There are only a few vegetarian options for an evening meal and the same for breakfast. That's disappointing but I guess they don't get much demand for it. I was meant to have asparagus with my breakfast but got mange tout as a substitute.

As soon as I arrived at the flagstaff, it felt very much like home , the warm welcome 🙏 I was given at reception was the start off what can only be described as a perfect start to my short stay , every staff member and I mean every staff member gave me impeccable service, The breakfast was one off the best ive had and was more than enough to carry me through to tea time , I took a walk into Newry in the morning, only a 30 minute walk with views to die for , and its a good way to clear the cobwebs after a few drams at the well stocked bar in the Flagstaff, I will be returning to this amazing establishment, its heartfelt thank-you to all the team for making my stay faultless. 🙌 🙌 🙌

This fabulous hotel and the team are wonderful. The facilities are immaculate and it smells divine when you enter your room. Regina and the whole team are so helpful and friendly. The food is fabulous, evening meal and breakfast. It's fabulous value for money and they are all very welcoming. I have stayed here a few times now when I'm in Newry for work and highly recommend it. There are a lot of regular locals who come in for food and a few drinks which shows how popular it is too.

We were going to a wedding @ killeavy & flagstaff is the perfect location to save having to pay the extortionate killeavy prices! Staff are so friendly. Bar food & breakfast are fab

Can't praise this place high enough - I stayed two nights in their bright single room on the second floor mid-week and was so impressed. The room was immaculately clean and had a little kettle for making tea, the shower and toilet were spotless, the bed was clean and so comfy, and everything felt brand new but lovely and homely. The place was nice and quiet at night even though it's just off the motorway and less than a 10-minute drive from the town centre. I didn't try the WiFi or the full fries for breakfast, but I had some nice fruit, yogurt and cereal with a selection of juices and tea. Above and beyond all that though, it was Glen on reception that took the hospitality to the next level. I called in advance to let them know that I would be very late arriving and Glen made sure that the carpark barrier was up for me. I had only driven a little over an hour from Dublin but he offered to make me a sandwich - bearing in mind that this was 1am in the morning - and not only brought up fresh milk up for my cupán tae, but gave me two full plates with an array of salad, smoked chicken, fruit, sun-dried tomatoes, coleslaw, and extra biscuits. I have never been so well fed going to bed! Very grateful to all the friendly staff for making a work trip so pleasant and at a reasonable price for bed & breakfast too. Highly recommend this gem of a find, míle buíochas.

The hot water to the sink took a little while to warm up in the morning, but that was genuinely it - everything was excellent!
