Perfect place to get away from the town life and everyone was so friendly. Food was excellent and the breakfast was lovely at extra cost as this is charged separately but well worth it. The chef cremated our fried eggs though lol apart from that the fry’s are beautiful. It’s very old fashioned place but the decor goes along with the stunning views around you. Definitely worth a stay but be prepared for the music on at 8am in the morning blasting from the speakers at your window! Earplugs definitely needed with everyone talking outside after they leave the bar downstairs. It’s ok for the early birds or for them that don’t sleep but when your not getting over til 3am and then woke at 8 it felt such a let down not to be able to get that lay-in as breakfast didn’t start til 10am. We were shattered. There was no hot water working to get a shower. The entertainment, pub, restaurant and food was beautiful with everything you need at hand. Would stay again as long as the music wasn’t blasting outside your room windows at 8am 😀

I was delighted with the location and with the building. I really appreciated the attention to detail in the decor of room and bar/restaurant, it was so cosy and welcoming and friendly. The young man working the bar and table on Thursday eve was so considerate and kind, they should give him a raise. My only disappointment was lack of breakfast.

Could have had breakfast but understand they were just reopening. Would def return to this b snd b and would highly recommend

Authentic rural pub for the local populace. Large authenic old-style rooms. Excellent pub food - when it is open. Genuinely friendly acceptance of tourists by the hotel and restaurant personnel and also by local residents in the bar. If you wish to really experience Ireland then you must stay here: The local Gaelic football club sings irish songs late on Saturday night. The pub even has a stage for large events.

The pub and restaurant are closed during the week and all is very quiet. If you are young or wish to experience an authentic Irish party, then you will enjoy and willing to participate in the late nigh sounds of gaity then book a stay on Saturday by all means! A "must". If you insist on silence - then do not book Saturday. Best to inquire directly.

Quaint room, like how your (great-)granny's bedroom might have looked. By a brook, with a bar/restaurant design fitting for the bars & country shops of Ireland gone by. Has atmosphere. Separately I met the unassuming owner, Mark, without knowing it, had a great chat. Actually very appreciated.

The place was unique! We were given a house instead of rooms which worked out perfect as we got the fights on the TV ! The staff in the bar were so friendly, food was top level, Tiernan the barman kept us well refreshed with Drinks.... Weather was great so we were able to enjoy outside drinks.

I really enjoyed my stay at Basil Sheils b&b. Everything was immaculate and the facilities were great. The perfect stay for a work trip. I look forward to trying the bar on my return.

Beautiful location beside river. Restaurant has a lovely cosy atmosphere w stove and candles. Room had Comfy bed and full of old fashioned character.

We stayed a Saturday night so room above bar w live band so a bit noisy till 1.30am. Pub and restaurant shut beginning of week so would be quiet then but no option of good of drink .

Very welcoming, popular pub with the locals. Not too noisy entertainment. Excellent restaurant.

Important to note that breakfast is not served until 10 am.

What a Spot great staff nothing is a bother to them lovely food & last but not least the over night stay was amazing I will definitely be rapping this door on again 💯
