The room was spacious and we found the bed really comfortable. The location was perfect for where we needed to be. It was an added bonus being able to leave our luggage in their secure storage room once we had checked out.

The windows were banging on the first evening but I resolved that by wedging some toilet roll inbetween the window and the surround. (The windows are old and the weather was particularly horrid ). As previous reviewers have mentioned, the stairs would be a big issue for the elderly or people with limited mobility. I am fairly fit but was out of breath by the time I reached the room (top floor) with my small suitcase. I am so glad I packed light for the trip!

Excellent location for city centre, shops, Ashmolean museum, great restaurants. Right on Broad Street, which is pedestrianised, almost everything is within walking distance. There are buses within 1 minute walking distance. There is no breakfast offered, but there are plenty of good eating places within a few minutes walk. I found a great market stall in the covered market that offers freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh croissants. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was well stocked with toiletries. Plenty of hot water. Tea and coffee making facilities and biscuits provided. No fridge. There is a Tesco Express around the corner for fresh fruit and drinks for breakfast or snacks if needed. There was an ac unit available that I didn't use. But, if in use, it would possibly drown out some of the street noise.

Not a complaint...I already knew that Broad St is very busy, so I expected some noise from the street. My room was overlooking Broad St, which was lovely, but it can be noisy until around midnight, with groups of people chatting and laughing. If you're a light sleeper you might want to request a room off the street. There are lots of (creaky) stairs and no lift on the premises. Don't go with large, heavy suitcases unless you're fit and strong!

Perfect location, steps from the Library. The room was very large and bright, the bed very comfortable, and the bathroom was lovely. Fine shower and hot water. The weather was cold and we appreciated how well heated the room was. We were also struck by how quiet the room was, despite how busy the street below was. Having a security code to get into the hotel after 8:30 PM made us feel secure.

Well, we are older people and were unprepared for the four flights of stairs that we had to climb, carrying our suitcases. Except for our room and the excellent wifi, the hotel provided nothing.

Room 206. Perfect little room for one. Didn’t look onto Broad St so it was so quiet, lovely comfortable bed/pillows, has everything you need in the room including a variety of teas, coffee, biscuits, toiletries (body wash, lotion, shampoo + conditioner), hairdryer, tv etc. The sash window pulley seemed to have snapped so the window didn’t stay open, but they provided a quiet fan so that was fine. Bathroom is small but fine for one person. Overall, I had an amazing night’s sleep! And thanks to the lovely staff for storing my luggage both when I arrived too early to check in, and for the day after check in.

Narrow stairs but this is mentioned in other reviews. But staff will help with luggage if you ask! Also - the images of the lovely building in the photos provided is NOT the hotel (like I thought it was) - this is an Oxford uni college building opposite that the hotel looks OUT onto. Took me a while to find it because of this! I would also suggest to the hotel to add an extra (maybe chain?) lock to the door as one key to lock it didn’t feel super secure from inside the room.

The location was spot on -15-20 minutes easy walk from the train station. I stayed in the superior double as that was the only option available. I couldn’t fault it. Very spacious room with everything I needed. Very homely. Lovely decor (beautiful curtains), and even a traditional but decorative fireplace. I was grateful for the clean and comfortable bed. Very efficient reception services. The hotel supplies a Wi-Fi code and door security code if you want to go out in the evening. Even though it is a guest house model, there is someone on reception 24/7.

The narrow and steep entrance stairs may cause a problem for those less mobile or with heavy luggage. It’s a period building so these things are expected. What you are booking here is a very pleasant room - there is no breakfast or catering served which wasn’t an issue for me. There are lots of cafes, bars, restaurants and convenience stores close by. There are also tea, coffee, water and biscuits in the room. Nice toiletry pack in the bathroom.

The location was excellent literally opposite Baliol College and very close to restaurants and shops. Clean and simple. Staff was very good and whole process was very easy. It was a cozy hotel. I will stay here again.

The room is more like a house bedroom instead of a hotel room. So you won’t get a feeling of being in a hotel. However this was not a problem for me as I was only there to attend course at Oxford University. There is no lift, onky stairs. If you have a suitcase then you should be aware that you need to take it up the steps. For me it was not an issue as I had a small bag and was not a problem.

Totally city center location so you cannot get a better spot - you are just in the center of the most important part of the town and everything is just within a couple minute walking distance. The room was spacious, clean, and just the way we expected it. It is more like an inn but you do not fill it. THe staff is very nice and informative. Check-in lasted about one minute and everything was so smooth. Check-out and invoice for the stay were also smooth and pleasant. Everything was exactly the way it was supposed to be.

I would only substitute cookies on the coffee tray with cream or milk to go with our morning coffee and upon next renovation maybe additional sockets with USB charges for phones/tablets/watches ;)

We were staying at The Buttery for work and had a 6 month old baby with us. They provided a comfortable baby bed, and our room was so large that we were able to block off a separate area for the baby to sleep where we wouldn't disturb her if she went to bed before us. The bathroom was also huge, and we had an ample supply of towels and toiletries. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and everything was very clean and tidy.

The bed wasn't that comfortable (spring mattress where we could feel the springs). If you have a lot of luggage or any disability you will have to do at least one flight of stairs (we were on the 3rd floor).
