Location was great and was very peaceful. Bed was comfy and loved the tea station. Overall the experience of being in 3 converted cells was great.

Wasn’t a fan of the coffee expresso. Sheets on the bed were too starched so they were very loud. The duvet cover had a slit in it and was inside out. Parts of the grout in bathroom were missing and the panel on the side of the bath wasn’t finished very well. And one of the holes in the shower head went in a complete different direction from the rest which was really annoying. There was also patches missing on the carpet that had clearly been moth eaten. I just expect a more seamless room with the amount it cost.

Room was lovely and room we had, facilities great: Nespresso machine, chocolates, robes and slippers, and balcony for fresh air! Location great, not far from centre of Oxford, 5 minute walk. Food good, both dinner and breakfast. Fresh lemonade in reception nice touch, especially as a very warm weekend. Staff very helpful, friendly and gave good service, they were excellent.

The noise from the Slug & Lettuce in front of the hotel is loud at night into late hours if in a room over the front (Club Room 4th floor), be warned. Breakfast - nice but expensive. Bar - on Saturday told couldn't go out to the outdoor area from the door from the bar, and would have to go up 2 floors to get out, then down steep steps - was a very warm weekend so not great, and decided not to bother, shame. Car parking also hugely expensive at £34 per day!

Friendly, efficient staff, clean, comfortable, quiet accommodation! Receptionist noticed I was walking with a stick and suggested he changed my booked room in the annexe to one close to reception on the ground floor. He said my original room had steps to it and took me to the new room to check it was okay for me. I really appreciated his thoughtfulness and the room suited me perfectly. It was all very clean and comfortable, amazingly quiet, and all staff were polite and friendly. Bus stop outside to station. Short walk to more than enough shops, restaurants and attractions. I hope to be back.

All was good.

The room was very spacious, comfortable and tidily kept. The staff (receptionists, restaurant staff, et cetera) were extremely helpful, and went above and beyond in helping with any and every question I had for them. Not only is the hotel itself extremely clean and well-kept in every way, but it also manages to combine the conveniences and cleanliness of a modern hotel with the beauty and aesthetics of the Victorian prison that it is originally converted from. The food and drinks not only tasted really good, but they were obviously very well presented and prepared too. As for the location itself, Oxford is a really lovely city where everything is nice and central, and the Malmaison reception staff can easily provide you with a map and give you exact details about where in the city you go (what streets you need to walk through to get to where, et cetera).

The only thing I think could have been improved upon was the fact that none of the lights (overhead lights or lamps) in my bedroom were working, but otherwise, the hotel itself was faultless in every respect and I couldn't recommend it more.

This stay is hard to rate because pretty much everything was great except that our room was too warm (see comments below). Otherwise, we were very happy with all other aspects and especially appreciated the wonderful breakfast that was included. A bonus was the open air theatre at the back of the hotel that we were able to attend one evening.

Our room was like a furnace; I felt that I was on a rotisserie. I appreciate that it was very hot that weekend, but there was no air conditioning and the one window only opened a small crack. A fan really should be provided, especially as the weather is generally getting warmer.

Well positioned hotel situated within the castle complex and only a very short walk from our Park & Ride bus stop. Easy access to most of the city's highlights, so getting around isn't a problem - it's all walkable from the front door of the hotel. We stayed in a 'cell'. It was a great experience, very comfortable, and with all that you need included. The central spinal corridor linking the cells was perfect and was the scene of quite a few photographic opportunities for us, although there was no sight, sign, or sound of 'Mr Mckay' or 'Norman Stanley Fletcher', those wonderful characters in the 1970's TV sitcom 'Porridge'. We're in our 40th year of marriage now, and I felt my wife needed a well-earned break! She told me she wouldn't forget it.

A unique experienced that lived up to expectations. Took upgrade to larger "room" in 'A' Wing which consisted of three cells one of which had been made into a good sized bathroom with roomy shower and roll-top bath. The bedroom had ample space with comfortable bed and the usual amenities. We were there on B&B and whilst not having dinner, can recommend the breakfast which was of very good quality. Location of the hotel (Jail) couldn't be more convenient for the central shopping area which well served with cafes, restaurants and bars and an apparent endless supply of buses to take you to any area around Oxford. Just don't expect a view from your room - it's a PRISON!!

There was nothing not to like.

Had such a lovely stay! Staff were so friendly and attentive, from the reception staff, concierge, waiting staff and housekeeping, everyone we met were amazing! The room was clean and the bed really comfy. We stayed in the William Henry Kebbel suite. Lovely size room and bathroom. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. The uniqueness of the hotel just adds to your experience. Right in the centre of oxford walking distance to everything we wanted to see and do! Would highly recommend and will definitely return!

Room is clean and comfortable, very unique cells. No big window as expected, but the air is still very fresh and it's warm. Food is good and fair price.

They needs more and better trained staff. When we checked in there is no receptionist at both reception desks. When we had breakfast in the morning, everyone need to wait in a queue at the entrance of bar for at least 15min, you just standing there watching others eating and staff walking around but no one serves you. You don't expect this in a 4* city hotel or any good restaurant. And The food is served a bit slow. It has interrupt our plan for the whole morning, we had to check out and leave our luggage at front desk then attend our prebooked visiting tour.

I love this hotel, it's not my first time there, and I will be coming back.

Feedback to the hotel: you have asked me what time I would like to book my breakfast and I said "on the latest slot available please", so you booked it for me at 10:15. I arrived to have breakfast at 10:15: most items at the breakfast buffett were gone, and staff cleaning tables and others with carts with cuttlery etc kept going by me all the time, it did make me feel like I was in the wrong for being there at that time, when I paid for that service and I was there at the time I was booked for it.
