Burnley West Higher Trapp Hotel

We attended a wedding here before, but never stayed. Our room was directly opposite the door from the stairs, other than some rowdy people around 11.30pm it was very quiet. We had a four poster bed in the rom which was very creaky, every time we turned over but the room was large, had everything we needed and a fab Coffee Machine.

The bathroom was in need of a freshen up. Some wood panelling was a bit warped and the silicone around the edges had gone black. The bath taps and plugs were very old. A good update would have made the stay a little better, but it was all clean.

Lovely hotel, gorgeous grounds. The staff are so lovely and friendly and really went out their way to ensure we had a good stay.

We were allocated the room above the main function space. Although we were called in advance of our stay to advise us that there was a wedding on the first night, we weren’t told anything about how load the music would be in our room (there was no way we were sleeping before the dj finished); others in party in other parts of the venue did not have this problem. it wasn’t a massive deal for us as we were ready to start the celebrations for the wedding we were attending the next day, but I can 100% imagine that for many guests this would have had a huge negative impact on their stay.

I am completely this on behalf of my elderly parents who stayed at The Higher Trapp to visit family. I contacted the hotel before arrival to explain that my mother had mobility issues. They responded quickly by phone to talk through the situation. They allocated a room in the annexe so my mother did not have to negotiate stairs. As the annexe is on one level and they could park outside The room was lovely and clean. With good decor and facilities. The room was also well heated. We visited them at the hotel and both the reception staff and bar staff were friendly.We did not use any other facilities

The staff are the stars at this accommodation. Very welcoming receptionist and exceptionally pleasant staff at breakfast time. Good buffet breakfast with filtered coffee available, plus hot food cooked to order. We had a pet with us which we're pleased to say was made very welcome, including in the main hotel lounge. The area is rural with excellent views across the valley and good walks possible from the hotel.

It really could benefit from a little tlc. The gardener has recently retired and it shows. The grounds have huge potential but the water feature is dried up and there are copious weeds in the borders. Because we have a pet we were in the lodge. We can't comment on the rooms in the main block but, although clean enough, ours was rather dark and the carpet wrinkled. This is not unusual, though, when you have pets.

Very pleased to have discovered this hotel. Very comfortable bed, room size more than adequate for our one night stay. Very nice en-suite bathroom, clean and with a few toiletries such as soap, shower gel provided; also lovely fluffy white towels! Excellent breakfast with huge choice to cater for all tastes. Lovely countryside location away from traffic, plenty of parking spaces. Particularly nice to be welcomed by cheerful, polite and helpful concierge on our (very) late arrival and then to find a selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate drinks in our room.

I couldn't fault our stay at the Higher Trapp hotel; in fact, we are likely to book again on our next visit to the Ribble Valley.

Hotel was easy to find. It was a comfy hotel with a nice outlook over the garden and distant hills if you were lucky enough to have a room on that side. We had an enormous family room at the rear. Very quiet hotel. Breakfast was very good and all the staff were very friendly and attentive. We had a comfortable one night stay after a family wedding in the area.

The hotel is fairly old and was a little tatty in places and could do with some moderate updates in the corridor areas like new carpets. Also not much fresh fruit available at breakfast.

We stayed in the lodge this time which was much better than when we stayed two weeks prior in the actual hotel. Larger room, airy with a larger bathroom. Good breakfast. We didn’t pay for the dogs two weeks previous but wanted to charge this time and when I mentioned the no charge prior they didn’t charge. Overall it is a great hotel with lovely grounds and lovely staff.

The location was lovely set in a quiet area with just a few houses nearby it’s away from the hustle and bustle of a town/city

The room was big enough it was clean, like many hotels just a few niggles were noticed where they have pieced carpet back in for whatever reason looked worn and didn’t actually look right made the floor look scruffy, dead flies in bathroom light also the light is quite dim, painting mishaps, just needs some attention other than that it was great!

stayed there for a wedding. Venue is great - plenty of great places for photos etc. Check in was easy and staff very helpful at all times. Food served at the wedding was fabulous and the breakfast in the morning was great - help yourself to cereal, toast, juice, tea and coffee and order the hot food off the great menu or you could have a continental breakfast.

The bar in the Pendle Room was too small for the amount of people it was serving and wedding guests weren’t allowed to use the “residents” bar - even though we were residents.

Very nice location, good restaurant, good value and staff was friendly and very helpful.

Some basic amenities were lacking in my room - no tissues, no hand soap, carpet had a large tear in it, decor was lacking, toilet needed flushing on arrival (!!!) and all left the room itself feeling unfriendly. Price was not “budget” to the point of justifying these issues existing.
