Northcote

We loved the service, the location, the cocktail bar and most of all the five course gourmet dinner. The food was off the scale! When we had our pre dinner nibbles I knew it was going to be amazing but every course was better than the last. This is a seriously good restaurant with inventive, skilfully made delicious dishes. You can see Lisa’s influence on every dish. I wish we had got a chance to see her as we are big fans :)

The room decor wasn’t to our taste but nonetheless it was super comfy and with loads of lovely touches and a huge bathroom and bed. The breakfast, while a fab selection of food, on both mornings it was cold for both of us. I get that they have to get people in and out so they can set up for lunch so need to precook some stuff but cold eggs isn’t really good enough when compared to the dinner service. The staff were so nice I didn’t want to make a fuss about this but am putting it in the review so they can hopefully address it for other guests.

We have stayed at this property several times . We have always been happy with our stays . On this occasion ,it was the first stay,under new ownership. We feel the place has improved even further and set an even higher bar .Northcote also has a more relaxed feel about it . The location is great and the hotel has several local walks ,with maps on their website .It has an outside terrace with spectacular views . The food is amazing .Lisa the Executive head chef is so talented and really down to earth.It was great to see more diversity staffing wise , that reflects British society . Natalie on reception made us feel very welcome . She went above and beyond to make sure our wedding anniversary stay was special . We were also very impressed with Molly in the dining room . We stayed for two nights and had the 5 course Vegetarian taster meal . Followed by the vegetarian cheese board . it’s a good lover paradise with impeccable surroundings !

We would like to see a greater selection of non alcoholic beers and more vegetarian cheeses .

We stayed at Northcote to attend a private event, it was truly exceptional, the food is divine, staff are courteous and attentive and the facilities are absolutely top quality, with a traditional charm Northcote oozes comfort and quality in equal measure. Its perfect for foodies, couples,friends and gatherings providing a little escape from the chaotic world we now live in ..

A one night stay encouraged by the Great British Menu performance of LAS - very comfortable room - big bed - ample storage - good quality TV - big bathroom - walk-in shower - and a bath big enough to do lengths - quiet with a bay window to allow some breeze during a July Heatwave - fan provided - but came for the food - limited but acceptable a la carte menu for us - excellent - a real treat - chocolate pudding to die for - good but informal service - breakfast - £25 per head - would stay again and explore the grounds as there much more to Northcote to appreciate

Beautiful setting, very attentive, knowledgeable and courteous staff. Atmosphere was relaxed, friendly and unpretentious. Bedroom and bathroom were beautiful with the best shower I've ever been in.

It was how i expected in terms of food and drink. It was our first experience of fine dining and so it is hard to find anything we didn't like. However i did find it mildly annoying to be charged £10 for two bottles of water with our meal, especially as we were having the wine flight.

Couldn't fault the place. Beautiful location with wonderful views from the outdoor dining areas, Comfortable beds, excellent cuisine. Certainly will be planning a return later in the year;

A later in the year visit since at this time the building was rather cold despite the room's central heating in use.

Breakfast was excellent and the bed was very comfortable in the room. Lovely bathroom with walk-in shower and plenty of storage space. Tv was excellent and we could get Netflix. All the staff were brilliant

Some miscommunication between staff about arrangements but all was sorted immediately when we spoke to reception.

The staff were phenomenal from the minute we arrived until our departure both very friendly and also professional. The receptionist even suggested we could settle our bill from our room as it was raining and we might get wet walking across to reception. We didnt - large umbrellas were provided!

On arrival we were met with an immediate issue as we were due to attend a wedding and there were no rooms reserved for us despite us booking in January. The hotel was full. The hotel staff and team there managed to sort the situation and arranged alternative accommodation at another hotel. Exceptional performance under an incredibly difficult situation.

There were no rooms when we arrived. Issue with the booking system somewhere.

Nice rooms. All members of staff we encountered were exceptionally nice and efficient. Chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen’s taster menu was the highlight of our stay. Extraordinarily good flavours dance on the taste buds. A symphony of perfect combinations. Waxing lyrical is the only way I can describe this food! We will be back.
