The room was spotless and beautiful, and the staff could not have been more welcoming. You can't beat the location, either--such a great place for exploring Reading, and its proximity to the train station makes it a great (and much less expensive) base for exploring Oxford, which is a half hour train ride away. The shower was fabulous, and the toiletries smell so good (also appreciate that they're in refillable containers). The AC was perfect. Thank you for everything!

There was some noise (music) at 10:30 pm, being that there is a pub/restaurant on the ground floor, but the noise stopped promptly at 11, which is when their quiet hours go into effect. This wasn't an issue for us, as we tend to go to bed later anyway.

The hotel is very well located and very nice concept. The ground floor Bar & Food serving looks so original, firstly made me worried that there will be too much noise but actually no. The real noise comes from the Main Street in front of the building. There are coffee shops and supermarkets very closely which is great. Staff is friendly! Room spacious and very clean.

Noise from the main street in front of the hotel woke me up at 5 am ....The lift was out of service and when with luggages can be challenging. it could be great if someone helps the guest. Parking a bit challenging but the staff helped us to find good rated one.

The location was perfect. The room was very nice, comfortable bed ( but a bit squeaky!) a lovely bathroom and shower.

Very central location, clean and comfortable hotel. Lovely welcome by staff who were kind and helpful. They were very accommodating to our needs.

The one way system in Reading meant no drop off outside the hotel, so we had to park at a nearby carpark, and transport alot of luggage by walking. Had it been raining, it would have been miserable. Also, there was an issue with local taxis; there didnt appear to be any, unless you looked for them yourself on google and booked them in advance. We spent a fortune going to our rewind festival venue. Just a thought for anyone thinking of staying in Reading who want to attend rewind.

Our room was great! Really lovely decorative touches that make a big difference. Lovely and clean, lovely big bathroom. Great tea and coffee selection and cold bottled water available and topped up daily. The bed was huge and so comfortable. Aside from the room, The Market House has lots of great areas to sit and have a drink or food. Loved the roof terrace! All staff were so so friendly and helpful! Although we couldn't check in any earlier than 3pm we were able to leave our cases so no problem. We would be really happy to stay here again.

Super friendly staff (when they were face to face - if you provide a number for guests to call you need to ensure that its quickly answered by a human - not by an answerphone message -especially when the calls are repeated) beautiful room with a superbly appointed bathroom and all the bells and whistles that you'd expect of a top-class hotel. Good food and beer offering in the bar.

A brighter light in the bathroom so that I could have actually seen the face I was trying to shave. "Moody" lighting I'm sure is good for aesthetics and possibly also contributes to the "warm" atmosphere, but its completely out of place in a bathroom, which should always be brightly lit so that you can see what you're doing. The lift could have been working which, though a breakdown is not predictable, having a 24/7 call out service to fix it should have been first thing n the list when considering services that may be needed. Sad to see the roof-terrace out of action.

Location perfect for those traveling by train. Right in the center of town with many nearby restaurants. RailAir bus at train station for direct trips to London Heathrow.

Elevator was not working, so I had to lug my suitcase up two long flights of stairs. Arrived on Sunday was told that food was only available until 5:30, which was disappointing because I had heard they had great food and beverage options and atmosphere. Ended up walking a couple blocks away to a nearby shopping center with many restaurant options and more accommodating opening times.

We were there for the Reading half marathon. Location perfect for a stroll out for a meal on Saturday night and then watch the race. Also there was a fridge in our landing containing fresh bottled water and additional milk if required to use with good tea and coffee facilities in our room. We were overlooking the square so when pub emptied could hear punters in the square but with window closed it wasn’t too intrusive.

Had 2 single beds together as double and one mattress was a child’s, ie very light and I could feel the springs in the mattress. The other mattress was a full robust one and far more comfortable.

On our backpack trip through England and Wales with our two dogs, we visited Reading for a one nighter and loved everything about it. The staff of the Market House is really friendly and kind. And the room they gave us was gorgeous and really spacious. They put a lot of love and attention in the decoration of the room. Just a minute away is the beautiful Forbury Park which was so easy and nice to visit with our dogs. We are definitely coming back to explore Reading some more without the dogs as well and The Market House will be the first reservation we’ll make :-)
