Location and quaintness of the building. Food was very good. We found parking very convenient for us. Very pleasant outdoor eating space and excellent walking route to St Andrew’s Church for our son’s wedding. The Dyson fan was much appreciated too during very warm weather.

Extremely steep stairs to bedrooms - slightly dangerous particularly at the top where the level changes at the door. Our Superior Room, although very pleasantly decorated, was very warm during the recent hot weather, even with the Dyson fan. I missed having a wardrobe and chest of drawers for our four day stay, with several changes of clothes required.

Fantastic 'olde world' feel, oozes atmosphere. We stayed in a double (called George) and it was perfect for our needs after a local wedding; it was compact in terms of size but had everything you needed. Love the decor, really homely. The staff were super friendly and helpful when we needed to drop our bags before official check-in - we went to the wedding and found our bags in the room, perfect. It was also easy to get in after hours with clear instructions. The breakfast was excellent also (the veggie shakshuka was delicious) and the supplied coffees, teas and even a beer in the room, were brilliant touches. We didn't eat or drink at the venue but I can only imagines that the food and drink will be as good as the staff and the feeling of the place. We're already talking about when we can book another stay to explore the area.

I'm very tall (6ft 3in) so did bang my head on a few beams - this is a historic building so has low ceilings and uneven floors. But that's character, just remember to look up! We didn't sleep that well but that was more to do with a boozy night than a bad bed - the bed and quilt were excellent - but the emptying of bottles from the bar at 8am did wake us, but it's a working pub so to be expected to a degree. Anyone arriving by car, the parking is limited (and tight) so could pose a problem for large vehicles (you're better off parking round the corner TBH).

The breakfast was excellent and plentiful. The coffee was delicious. The staff member was extremely efficient and friendly. Dinner was very tasty and nicely presented and good value. However, the pudding was a disaster - obviously it had been frozen and the lemon cream contained ice crystals. Wine choice was good tho' a little expensive as a 12.5% charge was added as we drank it in the restaurant. Room was very spacious and nicely decorated but lacked a mini fridge for the water and prosecco which was in the room. The bed was extremely large and comfortable and the bathroom was OK but was rather dark.

As older people, we found the stairs difficult to climb, however the staff were very kind and carried our cases. Returning back in the late evening and using the fire-escape was much easier to access our room.

I arrived on a Sunday, and met a friend for Sunday lunch. The menu was mostly traditional Sunday roast, but of far greater quality than simply a "Sunday pub roast". A wonderful succulent lamb shank with Yorkshire pudding, crisp roast potatoes - faultless. In fairness, the price was more than you would pay in the average pub, but worth every penny. The morning breakfast was also very good indeed. One of the best sausages I have had in a very long time

There was nothing I didn't like. I came for a party in the town at the stunning Mill Theatre, so came back after the bar closed. I would note that room 1 ("Montmorency") a lovely, spacious room, is right above the bar, so if you are looking to go to sleep early... If you are tall, beware the beams throughout. After all, you are in a genuinely 500 year old building!

Pretty country pub centrally situated in Sonning, ideal for visiting family in Caversham. Staff friendly and helpful. Room well equipped with complimentary bottles of water and a bottle of beer and mini prosecco as well. Good quality toiletries in the bathroom and powerful rainwater shower head. A very nice breakfast also included in the price. The 3 nice chocolates left in the room were suffering from the heat and had melted in their packaging!

Our room was very compact, although well equipped. When we arrived the room temperature was far too hot. We had difficulty adjusting the radiator although it finally cooled down after about an hour. There was onlyva small window which opened about 2-3 inches. There was a Dyson fan which initially just blew the hot air around! No instructions for fan, I had to look these up on internet.

This is a wonderful pub/ hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, The building is beautifully old and well kept with oodles of character. I stayed in a standard double room which isn't huge but very well equipped, comfortable and clean. The breakfast selection was excellent also. The bathroom is the best. The welcome pack was the stand out. There was tea bags, herbal tea, Earl Grey Tea, fresh coffee, chocolate, a bottle of beer and a small bottle of prosecco. I'll definitely be returning.

I couldn't connect the WIFI to my laptop. I had spinach and eggs for breakfast and the spinach was gritty. I'm presuming it was cooked straight out of the bag without rinsing. Small niggles to an excellent pub/ hotel.

Lovely old Fullers pub in a old village setting. Great peaceful outdoor seating to enjoy a beer or two. Really good service with a large range of quality food to choose from served by attentive friendly staff. Reasonably priced for what is top quality well presented ingredients. The on suite accommodation is very comfortable and the added touch of the complimentary tray was a nice touch. A short stroll down the lane you arrive on the banks of the river Thames where there is lovely walks. A special thank you to Dan the Pub manager for making our stay special. We will return......

Toiletries in bathroom high quality as were the tea and coffee. little bottle of Prosecco and beer in room which was a nice touch. bed was very comfy. had dinner and the food was excellent as was the breakfast which was cooked to order. really great little find and I will return

nothing at all. the only watch out is parking was quite tight. I managed to get a space for my small car but at busy times in a bigger vehicle you may struggle. It’s a little village so to be expected I suppose

We loved the quirky and old style pub setting. The room was spacious and the bathroom was beautiful. The staff were friendly and very welcoming.

There wasn't much at all we didn't like, apart from the stairs to go to our room however there was a fire escape you could use which was much easier. The only other thing was the carpet was a littke dirty, I guess it's difficult to keep clean if people are always wearing shoes in the room. Parking was also a little difficult as it was very cramped, so if you have a big/long car it could be difficult.

Set in a picturesque village, the pub is full of charm and has a lovely feel about it. The staff were pleasant and the rooms spacious and beautifully decorated. Shower room was modern and very well finished. The breakfast was fab with lovely ingredients.

Due to the age of the property there are very steep stairs to the bedrooms but there are handrails. We luckily got a space outside the pub but could be a problem on very busy days such as a Sunday lunchtime.
