A very nice old pub in a great location. Good on-site parking and a choice of bars to spend the evening. The inclusive full breakfast is plentiful, nicely cooked and served up. The evening meals are also very well apportioned and cooked to a high standard. Last but certainly not least, are the staff. They are all very friendly and give the impression they want you to enjoy your stay with them.

Very little really. The room was certainly very clean but part of the bathroom was probably due for an update. I got the impression that work was planned so it wasn’t something that would prevent us from returning.

The food at the White bear was of a high standard and was enjoyed by both of us. The staff were all committed to providing the best possible experience. The room itself was spacious and well equipped with a good en-suite. The White Bear is located in the conservation area of the town with good access to the local amenities. There was good parking provision to the rear of the property, accessible from an adjacent road.

Although perhaps not foreseen, we could have been notified of the delayed opening owing to electrical problems. The stairway to the first floor is steep and may provide problems for some. The carpeting in the bedroom would be better replaced, detracting from an otherwise most attractive room.

Great evening atmosphere at this busy traditional pub, had some great chats with the regulars. Breakfast was amazing, and all the staff were lovely. Added bonus of onsite parking at the rear of the pub too. A great base for exploring The Cotswolds.

Upstairs/room 1 could do with a bit of a spruce up, carpets and paint work were a bit tired - things like this don't bother us too much as we were just after a base, but I can imagine others would be disappointed compared to online photos - so if you are picky, probably not the place for you. But the staff, atmosphere and food by far overrode this tiny improvement :) :)

Staff were attentive and extremely helpful. The bar tender was full of advice on local attractions to visit and the meals were fantastic ( highly recommend the home made pies ) Breakfast was excellent and the service was too. Excellent choice of reasonably priced beers and other drinks at the bar. Plenty of entertainment supplied in the outside bar area for the younger clientele, karaoke, was one example.

Unfortunately the decoration of our room required a little attention but I think they are working on these details as new carpets had recently been fitted

It was a central location for exploring Shipston on Stour and surrounding area; we only stayed the one night, but enjoyed our stay, along with the cooked breakfast. The room was comfortable and quiet as we had requested

The room was at the top of 2 narrow flights of stairs, so not ideal with 2 sizeable suitcases and no lifts! the decor was somewhat tired, and could do with a face lift. Staff were friendly, though clearly stretched in their work, so sometimes difficult to make contact with - particularly at reception.

Food good, friendly staff and locals. A big shower, fluffy towels. Ample beverages in room. Window opened allowing fresh air in to cool room. Very dog friendly. Lovely shops, loads of pubs, river walks. The tea shop situated on corner of sheep Street, was excellent, had a tasty cream scone here. Great location for access to Broadway, Morton on the Marsh and Chipping Camden.

The white Bear is a bit tired in decoration cracks . The floor in the room was on a slope. Couldn't really use one the bedside tables. View was wall but it was cotswold stone. All of the above is due to been an old building.

great location, very helpful staff, Lucy and Emma were lovely . nothing too much of a problem and really made us feel at home. My husband was part Way through a very long charity walk and he was clapped in and given a pint. Breakfast was very good and plenty of it. The room was spotless and tastefully laid out. All in all a great place to stay in the area especially if you are walking the Shakespeare Way.

Great location with very friendly staff and local people in the hotel bar where we caught the rugby 6 nations game before going out to a local restaurant, returned just before midnight for a quiet nights sleep. Super fried English breakfast plus a lovely pot of tea was much appreciated

Caution, room 5 at top of stairs has very low headroom for a 188cm chap like myself, but other than that room okay.

I booked this on behalf of my parents who are older via Booking.com. The price was reasonable. The hotel ensured that they had a room on the first floor, so there were not too many stairs to go up and down. The room was very large and of a good quality, with a large bay window overlooking the town centre which my parents loved. The staff were very helpful and friendly throughout their stay, in particular, Angie who made the excellent cooked breakfasts and went over and above to help my parents with their requests. The evening meal, in particular the fish and chips, was of an extremely high quality. There was a real family-run feel to this hotel and, as I've said the central location, was particularly useful. There was also plenty of parking at the rear and good access to the car. Despite being a pub, there was no real noise at night and they had a good night's sleep We really couldn't have asked for me from the staff of the White Bear and look forward to returning again in the future.

Quaint rooms in a lovely old public house. We were 3 generations of family traveling to the area for a wedding. We had two rooms opposite each other behind their own lobby door which was very convenient. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. Each had its own bath or shower. The room over looking the front of the street below had lovely chairs and a table to sit and watch the world go by. The floors were quite uneven and sometimes felt like you were on a boat but I love the quaint old features of these type of premises. A delicious hot Breakfast was served by a lovely lady and nothing was too much trouble. Ample tea coffee and toast with extra servings offered. Cereal and Juices also available. Breakfast time was of our own choice booked the night before. When we came in quite late from meeting family in the evening and wondered if we’d be able to get back in easily but the pub was busy and seemed like the place to be on a Friday night and everyone was friendly and welcoming. This in no way interfered with our stay and we couldn’t hear other customers downstairs. We were on the first floor.

All good. This is by no way a moan but maybe it should be pointed out the stairs are quite steep and narrow to the rooms. Again a feature of the age of the property. My mum struggles a little with mobility and needed a helping hand. But we coped okay and just thought I’d point out for other potential guests. It wouldn’t have put us off booking but anyone with less mobility may struggle
