Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was lovely with great little touches like, a bottle of beer, great coffee and tea along with a little brownie treat everyday. The food in the restaurant was very good especially the great breakfast, though sometimes we had to wait quite a while for it. Also, the draught beers were excellent. Very centrally located for Chipping Norton, right by the Town Hall (even found we loved the town clock chimes). Great location for going out and about to many National trust places as well as Diddley Squat Farm, Hawkstone and Hook Norton Breweries.

I am disabled and found the steps and stairs challenging. However, I loved the room we were in, so, put up with the struggle of the upward and downward climb. People and staff were very kind and patient.

The pub is centrally located in Chipping Norton and there is parking for guests. The room was full of character and period charm as is the pub itself. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was a bit small but it is what you expect in period character properties, saying that it was certainly comfortable enough. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was large enough and well laid out. Shower was very easy to use. There were tea and fresh (cafetiere) coffee available, plus bottled water and even a complimentary bottle of the pub's own brewed beer- very nice brew indeed. The breakfast was exceptional - highly recommended - top notch. I would certainly book to stay at the Fox again and have no hesitation recommending it to anyone.

Clean and quirky. Lovely features and beautiful food

The bed was uncomfortable and very small for tall people. I was a little disappointed that I had informed you prior to arrival it was my wife’s 40th birthday and was informed that her desert would have a candle in it if we dined with you. Because of this we didn’t dine anywhere else. On check in, I ensured she was away from me and it was mentioned again as a note on the screen. It didn’t happen though. It wasn’t something I could mention at the time as I was too embarrassed that it hadn’t happened. Maybe ensure the wait staff are aware of plans?

The property is centrally located in the town, and has been refurbished to a high standard. Retaining its lovely old character. The rooms are very comfortable, especially the beds, and the rooms have a lot of old, well made, ‘brown’ furniture to retain their character. Hook Norton is the brewer, so a fine selection of real ale is available, coupled with the usual keg beers. A good selection of wine is on offer. The hotel has a good team in the kitchen, dinners are excellent, breakfasts are superb, and served with a very artistic presentation. It claims to have the best breakfast around, which is true, with 2 levels of ‘Full English’. The manager, Ben, his wife, and their team work extremely hard to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. It’s almost impossible to find anything to complain about.

Although it was at a pub it did not feel like you were at a pub it felt much nicer. It was exceptionally well done . The restaurant food was excellent . We did bed and breakfast and the breakfast was superb, one of the days it was my husbands birthday and the breakfast arrived with a candle in the hash brown :-) This was a gem of a find . Parking was great .

Nothing really ( a hairdryer in the room would have been a god send as it poured with rain and we got soaked but to be fair I didn’t look properly as we were leaving that day so 1 may have been hidden somewhere )

I've stayed at the Fox a few times now as it is convenient for the courses I run. Great room, with the usual lovely touches of complimentary items in the room.

We had dinner at the Fox, which I have enjoyed previously, but this occasion was somewhat dissapointing. We order the soup for starters and the burger main. When the soup arrived it was very lukewarm and we sent it back, after which it returned hot. Similarly, the burger and chips were also lukewarm, but rather than make another fuss, we just ate them. Feedback was provided to the barman. The food itself was delicious and a shame it was served cold, especially the main, after we had sent the soup back! I cannot understand why this was, as it wasn't busy, but must have been left standing for a while before being served. Breakfast was perfect!

This pub/hotel was a nice place in the centre of chipping norton. Check-in was easy, and the waitress who took us to our room was friendly and informative. Free beer, brandy, and flapjacks in the room on arrival were a nice touch. The room was spacious, clean, and warm. The food in the pub was lovely, and there was lots of space in the bar/restaurant area.

The only thing I would say is there wasn't loads of choice on the menu, and by 4 p.m., a few things had sold out, so there was not a lot left to choose from. Also the rooms could do with double glazing as you could here staff arriving/noise at 6am.

Friendly and helpful staff (the Manager in particular was outstanding) compact, but totally adequate room with some nice extras included in the price, and excellent produce used for both breakfast and dinner (highly recommend you book for dinner as it is very popular and you will not be disappointed!) Overall a really lovely one night stay for us and we will definitely book again.

My one very small gripe would be that it looked like the room hadn’t been hoovered before our arrival, as the carpet had lots of bits on it, but it did small amazing in there!

The staff we absolutely amazing helpful bright and funny. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent all cooked to order and the best place to eat in Chipping Norton that was the opinion of the local folk. So you need to book a table for dinner. The room was really very nice we stayed for 4 nights and it was quiet (room 7) bed very comfortable and shower excellent all spotless. Not only did we get water each day but a couple of bottles of beer!!

Absolutely nothing!!

Our late check in time was accommodated with no trouble. We were given a warm welcome. Mineral water and beer were available in the room on the house. Free The Fox car park at the rear but you have to drive bound and round the pub to access it.

The ensuite shower room was sweet but tiny although adequate, but there was practically no space to put anything or hang more than one towel. A small shelf above the wash basin would be good and a corner shelf in the shower to put shower gel / shampoo on would also be useful. Directions as to how to access The Fox car park would be a great help!
