We arrived early and met by a very helpful and welcoming young duty manager who advised and helped re parking and carried our luggage inside. Despite being early our room was ready. It was light and airy with walk-in shower in en-suite bathroom. The location was excellent with stunning views over the harbour. All staff without exception were friendly, helpful and polite - nothing seemed to much trouble and we were always served with a smile. Breakfast was first class with a wide option and choice. We only stayed two nights and dined in once. My steak was cooked exactly as I ordered and my wife’s meal was lovely with generous portions - so much so, no starters or sweets were ordered.

Bed was comfy but pillows lacked bounce though not uncomfortably so. This was a very minor point.

the Hotel is located on the Stonehaven Harbor. The Ship Inn is also a traditional pub, where if you want you can have a dinner or only drink. The breakfast is amazing and complete. you can choose what you prefer eat at the menu (full complete Scottish breakfast, pudding and other options) and there is an self-service area with fruit juices, cereals, fruits, cookies, yogurts, bread, jam and butter. The rooms are upstairs at the first floor, with all the comforts you need. The Hotel doesn't have a private parking zone, but there are a lot of free parking area around the bay. Is a good place to stay for visited the Dunnotar Castle, Stonehaven and nearby.

We had a family room overlooking the harbour. We could not have asked for more. It was a stunning view, the hotel's location is fabulous right on the harbour front. The breakfast was delicious. All the facilities in the room were excellent. The shower was lovely and the beds extremely comfortable.

Having booked a specific table in the corner of the pub in the evening, it was disappointing to find that the table reservation had been over-ridden by other people and we had to sit elsewhere. But the food served was very good.

Location was perfect though unfortunately the weather was very foggy and wet. Plenty of free street parking, we parked alongside harbour wall in front of the Inn. We had all our meals at the Ship Inn, they were all very good as were the breakfasts.

The room was clean, warm and comfortable but the view out of our windows was directly over the moss covered roof of an adjoining shed. I’m not complaining, it is what it is and in the end booking a harbour view room we wouldn’t have seen the harbour because of the fog.

Great location and easy parking along the harbour just outside the front door. Helpful staff and lovely room. Did not have a sea view but that was made clear before arrival. We had some great local walks and had evening meal in the Hotel - fantastic. Bed was very comfy and had a great sleep. Breakfast also was excellent and plenty of it.

Only negative might be the thin pillows in the bed. I like to keep my head up and had to fold them over - but thats just me ! Otherwise I cannot fault this lovely hotel which was always friendly and busy.

Fun, scenic and relaxing, The Ship Inn was a favorite with the harbor views, excellent food and drink and happy people all around. The historic room was small but nice and clean with fluffy pillows on the soft beds. Wonderful sunrise harbor view from our window. Enjoyed eating lunch at the tables in front of the hotel overlooking the harbor with boats and birds. The breakfast was simple and delicious. Dinner was terrific with the grilled pork and applesauce with green beans. Walking down the boardwalk was fantastic passing artistic sculptures, walking on the beach and looking at the North Sea. At the end of the harbor is the Tolbooth Museum with notable artifacts from centuries ago and quite interesting. This location is also only five minutes away from the Dunnottar Castle! The Ship Inn hotel draws a happy crowd of locals for happy hour into the night on weekends.

The only inconvenience here was the parking. Very hard to find someplace close to the hotel on the weekends and the streets are so narrow that parking can be tricky with cars parked on both sides of the road. If you got a parking spot in front of the hotel it won't happen twice so don't leave!

Great location on the Stonehaven harbor. Parking just around the corner in a large public lot. Short steep walk up to the war memorial with great views of the castle and town. Plenty of pubs and take out places to eat in the area a short walk away. Our room was large and comfortable.

Driving in will be exciting if you're not used to driving in a small UK town built before the automobile. I wouldn't book this one as a first stop after getting off the plane from the US.

I always stay here when I come to Stonehaven, the staff are great, food is lush too, seafood & meat are sourced locally. The view is gorgeous too, can’t beat it.

Everyone is great, I ordered fruit, champagne, flowers & chocolates for my mum. Although the ship inn doesn’t usually do this, they went out of their way to this for me. A huge shout out to Debbie, who bought everything for me, everything was beautiful and the flowers were stunning. Thanks xx

This is a picturesque old inn right on the harbour. We had room 6 which has a fabulous view of the harbour. The staff were very welcoming when we arrived. Everything was very clean and the breakfasts were served at your table and very tasty. The Inn is very handy for food and drinks and even though our room was to the front, we were not disturbed at all by any excessive noise. Our beds were very comfortable. The rooms have a private entrance to the side which is good. Really enjoyed our stay.

The WiFi was a bit spotty but, after all, you are in a 300 year old building!

Good location over looking the harbour.

Getting a table to have a drink before dining was a problem, there was a constant flow of people coming in to eat and table space was a problem they even asked if we could vacate our table so that someone could eat but we refused when they couldn’t find us somewhere else to sit, we even offered to go into the restaurant early but they couldn’t accommodate that, we thought that was a bit cheeky and sent a young inexperienced lad out to ask us to move the manager didn’t have decency to ask us themselves. One of the rooms at the back was a bit noisy due to extractor fans but these were turned off when the kitchen closed.
