Holiday Inn Swindon, an IHG Hotel

Staff are the friendliest in any hotel I’ve ever stayed at, from housekeeping to front desk to restaurant and bar staff to health club - all were friendly, polite and accommodating. Quite simply the best and a credit to IHG. Food was incredible. Being so close to M4 was important for us as well. It was also very quiet and easy to get some good shuteye. Plus no fighting for lifts - love the layout!

It’s obvious that the hotel is dated and in need of maintenance. Our shower head was taped to the cord. It still worked but should have been replaced as it looked cheap. Control over AC would have been better instead of us just keeping the windows opened for ventilation. These are minor though, BUT the hotel can easily be rated 4 stars with some TLC.

Very convenient location. next to good roads and not far from the Old Town area. Petrol forecourt very closer with an M & S food outlet. Plenty of free parking. Room very comfy with hairdryer & ironing board if required, plus tea/coffee making facilities. Gym and small pool. Decent choice at breakfast. Quality sausages & bacon. All staff very friendly & helpful.

Due to age of hotel the bathroom quite small, only one person will fit in at a time, Must say though that has been updates and in very good condition.

Staff were really helpful and friendly. The accessible room we had was large the bathroom enormous. The dinner bed and breakfast was excellent value. Both meals were really good, particularly breakfast. We were offered room service, but wanted to eat in the dining room.

When pulled out the sofa bed didn't easily fit the room too wide for the available space. Needed more instructions in the room re meal and check out times and food menu. QR reader for the menu didn't appear to mention the set menu. Needed 2 office chairs in the room, particularly if you were ordering room service and eating in the room.

We booked the holiday inn especially for the pool for our baby but we’re disappointed as we couldn’t use the pool until 9am as it was adult only and then the pool was taken over for swimming lessons leaving little space or access for us as hotel guests. You’d think they’re would be a family swim time before lessons start. Also no baby changing facilities in the changing room or family changing area.

Very clean and hassle free. All of the staff incredibly friendly and helpful.

The breakfast hours are all over the place. One sign said that breakfast ends at 10AM, but when we arrived there at 9:28AM there was a sign saying that it ends at 9:30. Bit of a mess. Also, the hotel is surrounded by 2 pretty heavily trafficked roads, but neither of them have a crosswalk to get to the bus station on the other side.

Breakfast was included, which I really appreciated. A full English breakfast with vegetarian sausages and omelettes on request/cereals/cold plate/juices etc/breads/croissants/cup cakes/freshly ground coffee etc etc. The room was very comfortable but I didn't like the cupboard instead of a chest of drawers and there was no drawer in the desk. I found the bathroom to be spotless and immaculate but far too small and I had to squeeze around the door to get in and out. This is the only criticism I can find with my stay, but because of that I'm not sure I'd stay there again. I did ask for an upgrade with a larger bathroom but I was told all the bathrooms were the same, and the rooms I was shown as an alternative to mine, indeed had the same bathroom size. On arrival to my room I discovered a basket with a bathroom robe, two bottles of water; one sparkling, one plain, a kitkat, a packet of biscuits, and shampoos/soaps etc. Lovely!!!! My original room had been on the first floor and there is no lift in this hotel. As I am disabled, I found the stairs difficult although the staff were fantastic at bringing up my suitcase and two wheelie bags and 2 shoulder bags. After two days I was able to relocate to a ground floor. When I was ready to check out, I called the front desk to ask for someone to come with the trolley to help me take my baggage to my car and someone came virtually immediately and helped me to my car. The service and friendliness of the staff was outstanding. Just such a pity about the tiny bathrooms.

The bathrooms were far too small, getting in and out of the shower made it almost unsafe for someone mildly disabled and a bit clumsy from arthritis as myself.

Breakfast was excellent and the staff in the breakfast room and at the reception was polite, the children were given water and candies when we were checking out. Good parking facilities and central place if you like to visit Stonehenge, Bath etc. The room was clean and had everything you need.

Indoor pool, dressing rooms, showers were not kept in such good condition as the other facilities.

There is nothing to dislike with regards to the hotel and staff and food Excellent as always. I just wish we had more choice of TV programmes There are more free view channels than what you actually show.

The staff were really friendly, when we had a problem with the sofa bed not being set up, the staff came and set up straight away and were really attentive to my little girl. The restaurant has good food and the breakfast was delicious. The pool and jacuzzi were also well enjoyed

Our bed was rather small and very soft and we found the edges of the mattres to be causing us to roll off the bed. Very noisy bedding as well. We also had an issue as after we left the hotel called about damage to a TV however after we spoke to the hotel and confirmed it wasnt us, the issue was resolved.

Pool & spa. Awful. Needs serious revamp which I was told is to happen soon. The jacuzzi never worked, the pool tiles looked black, the changing rooms horrible. I've stayed at others that have excellent spa's so when this one is upgraded I'd have no hesitation in returning. The price of beer! £6.22 for a pint of beer. Come on!! Lost my custom to the pub over the road. £3.40 a pint.
