The Crown Aldbourne0

As the only guest in this 200+ year old, 5 bedroomed pub the landlord looked after me very well and even cooked my breakfast. The range of evening meals was superb . . the chef (Miles) has over 30 years experience running his own restaurants in Spain and Majorca.

I can't state 'what I didn't like' as the building is over 200 years old . . the bedroom floors are a bit 'wonky' and the en suite shower room was a bit small but this is an old building . . if you want 'Premiere Inn' standard of bedroom fixtures and fittings you will be disappointed . . if I went back to the Aldbourne area I would stay there again.

Alan and his staff are superb. The food (breakfasts and evening meals) were excellent and well priced. The ciders were great and the room was really nice. The bed was so so comfortable. I came up from Cornwall for five nights with my dog Rosie as a base for visiting WW2 historical sites in the area and loved my stay at The Crown. I’ll definitely be returning....much more hospitable than the other pub in the village, The Blue Boar which is a pretty pub but didn’t allow Rosie in. Needless to say they got none of my business whilst i was in Aldbourne. The Crown is an excellent place to stay!

The location, the village, the room, and the evening meal were all excellent. I would highly recommend this place. it's a great base to explore the area from.

The full English breakfast was not pleasant. I did try on two occasions, but it's not good. I think every item of food had been microwaved.

We stayed here at The Crown in June for a few days to retrace the steps of a Dear 101st Airborne Veteran Friend who was here in late 1943 to 1944 training and Bileted for the Liberation of Europe in WW2. He Drank in this Inn as it was The Enlisted Mens watering Hole. The Owner were very Friendly and very Helpful. Chefs were cooking and presenting Dishes Immaculately, even under pressure with a full House. Never had to wait long for food or Drinks. Rooms were very Comfortable, WiFi excellent, Love that the Old Features of this building were kept intact and gave a nice warm Old World feeling to the Place. Would recommend a stay here as ...we didn't want to leave🥰

Hi - just a quick message to say how much I enjoyed a four night stay at The Crown last week while visiting the picturesque village of Aldbourne. All of the staff, without exception, were friendly, helpful and attentive. I was also impressed by the quality of the food, so much so that I dined there on all four evenings. I wholeheartedly recommend The Crown as THE place to stay on a visit to Aldbourne. 10/10 "

The breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly & helpful, finding time to give me travelling directions even though they were obviously busy. The location was ideal for my purpose on this trip. I particularly appreciated that at 11pm punctually, the noise stopped & there was quiet for the night.

Only stayed one night and didn't get a chance to explore the location. We were welcomed with a lovely smile. Staff were great and very accommodating.

Absolutely perfect for what we needed but couldn't help feeling like the room was a little overpriced for the condition of it.

Cozy and welcoming, perfect location for exploring the downs and places like Marlborough or just hunkering down during stormy weather. The Crown also very dog friendly so ours felt welcome . The live music in the bar was brilliant and food excellent.

Not a lot! shower was a tiny bit temperamental but it didn’t spoil our stay.

Excellent full English. I love this pub's Unique Selling Point - its association with the Band of Brothers - American paratroopers stationed in the village in 1943-4. The pub pays due attention to this historic association.

Brilliant location for Hiking in the North Wessex Downs. Great atmosphere in the pub, food was good, staff very helpful and friendly, bed was really comfy. I loved the connection to WW2 and Easy Company of Band of Brothers fame.

My only gripe would be that the shower which looked fairly new didn't have much power, but it was hot enough.
