Upon arriving the pub if the hotel was extremely busy with a funeral party and yet I was received and dealt with in under 5 mins and had my key. After reading the negative feed back which in my opinion is very petty and nit picking ridiculous really!! All of the staff were absolutely excellent,I was actually expecting a single divan in a room but to my absolute amazement I discovered an absolutely beautiful antique oak four-poster bed with lovely antique wardrobe dresser/desk and plenty of draw space all fantastically in character with the room there was tee coffee sugar kettle ect and a flat screen TV. The ensuite bathroom was spotless with bath, shower, sink and toilet and of course plenty of fresh towels and toiletries. Back to the staff I mainly had dealing with one gentleman whom I believe was the manager / owners right hand man. My girlfriend and I wanted to head out for a meal else where of which the afore mentioned gentleman recommended a lovely place he then called to a taxi firm to confirm that I could take my dog he also contacted the place we where going to eat to check it was ok aswell he then come and told us when our taxi had arrived and off we went. Now the taxi driver who took us was very rude he also dropped us at the place we was going which was apparently about a mile and half away from anything before telling us we couldn't have a dog in the taxi therefore we felt a bit stranded however my girlfriend had her friend return me to the hotel and her home. Upon arriving back at the hotel the owner was behind the bar aswell as the who presume was manager and where extremely apologetic regards the taxi which is absolutely no fault of there's I then had drinks in the hotel bar of which the owner would not allow me to pay for I believe I had 4 pints this was not the hotel or owners responsibility and just shows how far above and beyond the people here will go for you.

The only negative I can put is that my stay wasn't long enough!!

The location is pleasant although not easy for public transport, but family nearby were able to assist me. The staff were excellent and assisted me with my little companion dog.

There were no grab rails around the bath/shower so I had to wash down outside the bath, as I am over 80 and unsteady on my feet. The lock on the room door was loose as one screw missing and the other one loose so that the lock got jammed in the keep. I had to prise it out myself.

Booked a family room which was roomier (particularly the bathroom) than I expected for the price I paid. Beds were comfy and the room was quiet, we slept very well. Staff (Tim) was extremely helpful offered to carry our bags upstairs, gave us information in the area and was generally very pleasant.

We were planning on eating in the pub for a tea but we were informed there was no chef on arrival. WiFi could be better but I think that’s because of the remote location

Lovely, older high ceilinged property (originally a pub?) in a tranquil location. Team at the hotel were welcoming and breakfast was well cooked and tasty. Appreciated having a bath in the room so I could relax after a long day, and enjoyed a good nights sleep in a comfy bed.

Some of the fixtures in the room were a bit old fashioned and the carpet was rather worn in places. However everything was clean and serviceable.

Lovely quiet location. Hotel has lovely features including a spacious bar area, lovely to sit & have a drink, chat with the staff, play cards, watch sport on tv. It has a lovely conservatory with plenty of heaters for cooler evenings. Our family room was fine for us & our dog, plenty of space, we had a lovely view of the garden. Our breakfast was good, Sheila was lovely & found some vegan spread for us & gave our dog a sausage in a little bowl. Thank you Sheila. Everyone was really friendly, nice feel about the place. Perfect for a mid week stay & lovely to be able to take our dog into the bar area & restaurant.

Shower was difficult to use but that's nothing unusual about older properties!

A very nice 'Country House' type of hotel off the beaten track, but not too far. Bar meals are reasonably priced and are of generous size.

The hotel is in need of some TLC to items which individually are not important but when added together start being noticeable. Our mattress was probably old because the springs creaked when we moved. A light fitting was broken. The bathroom did not have any ventilation that we could find. We had to find someone in order to pay our previous night's drinks and food bill. I would have welcomed a better selection of draught beers.
