Archway Guest House

Me and my partner stayed for the weekend and we loved it. The hospitality was amazing, Denis and Anita are so friendly. Our room was spotless with all of the facilities that we needed and more. Anita offered us some homemade lemon drizzle cake which was perfect for us cake lovers 🥰. We booked out next visit whilst still there and we can’t wait. Thank you for this weekend Denis and Anita, you made it so special for myself and Rob. See you in May!!

Really enjoyed our stay. Anita and Dennis made us very welcome and went the extra mile to make our break away enjoyable. The breakfasts were exceptional and made all the better with the friendly and informative chat each morning. We were touched by the homely atmosphere and the fact that Anita took the time to remember our names added to our experience. The lemon drizzle cake and home made cookies were a very welcome treat on arrival. Our Bedroom was very clean and all amenities provided. We would definitely recommend and would love to return in the future.

The location was excellent and the top floor room was great with a huge bathroom that had a powerful shower and a large bath! I had the Caribbean breakfast, which was excellent and ready exactly when I came down. There are lots of thoughtful touches such as home baked cookies and lemon drizzle cake. But the icing on the cake is just how friendly the owners are, and how easygoing and natural they make what they do look. You can tell that if they could do something to make your stay even better or more memorable they would definitely do it. They were also very fast at communicating after booking and after I had checked out and they found something I left behind. I would recommend this place to others for sure!

What's not to like....my hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with super hosts 'Anita and Denis' they are such attentive and thoughtful people who made our stay very memorable. A lovely cosy room, comfy bed, fantastic shower with quality thick towels- always appreciated. Not forgetting the homemade cookies on arrival and the offer of lemon drizzle cake. Breakfast was lovely, juice, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal; followed by a delicious cooked breakfast made by Denis. We were so full, we didn't eat anything until 4pm! Excellent value for money, great central location and we parked right outside. Restaurants , pubs, coffee shops, shops on the doorstep. We look forward to visiting again- a little gem!

Anita and Denis where super hosts looking after you with anything you needed. We were offered some lovely cake on arrival before going to our room. Our room was on the top floor, super clean and newly decorated it was lovely and the bed is probably one of the comfiest I have ever slept in! On top of the cake there was also freshly baked cookies in the room which were amazing! Breakfast was great with loads of options fresh fruit, tea, coffee, juice. My partner had a lovely bagel with avocado etc whilst I had the full English and they were both fantastic! Couldn’t fault any part of the stay and as I said to Anita & Dennis did great and the location is literally one or two streets from everything you need with a nice view of the lake from the room! Superb! I’d recommend to anyone.

Genuinely one of the nicest stays we have had. Anita and Denis are extremely friendly, attentive and willing to go above and beyond. They take great pride in what they do and it shows. The breakfast was delicious and the added extras in the room were a very welcome addition. There is plenty of available parking and 2 reserved spaces at the back of the guesthouse if needed. The location is right in the centre of Windermere and close to shops/bars/restaurants and fantastic walks. We look forward to staying again!

We had a lovely time at The Archway Guest House and would recommend it to anyone as a cosy, comfortable and welcoming place to stay! The rooms were furnished nicely, making the room feel warm and a great place to relax after being out exploring. Anita and Denis are wonderful hosts, very inviting and go out of their way to make the stay a great one. There are many extra special touches such as home made cookies in the room and local knowledge tips in the guest book guide where Anita and Denis go above and beyond for guests. The guest house is situated in a great area with lots of local restaurants nearby, Anita had great tips and recommendations which really helped us. The guest house is a nice walk away from Bowness where you can catch a cruise and wander round the local pubs and shops - really well situated to explore the area. We were lucky to get a parking spot right outside which was ideal! For us the breakfast was also one of the highlights, the cooked breakfast was excellent and really sets you up for the day, and the buffet style for cereal and yoghurt was a great touch - would also highly recommend the Caribbean breakfast, lovely and tasty! Thanks so much to Anita and Denis, we'll definitely be back!

Loved how welcoming and friendly Anita and Dennis are they made us feel very at home and comfortable throughout our stay. Great breakfast everyday - liked fact we ordered the night before as this saves food waste and could pick exactly what we wanted item by item from an excellent selection. Also lovely to have yummy home baked cakes offered. Location is perfect, bars and restaurants just a few steps from the door and an easy to walk to lake - or further afield if you're more energetic! But best thing about Archway Guesthouse has to be Anita and Dennis themselves - nothing is too much trouble and they go out of their way to make you feel at home, they are just lovely.

The hosts, Denis & Anita were exceptionally warm and welcoming. Both made us feel quite at home, and had wonderful suggestions about places to eat and things to do in and around the Lake District. They always had time to answer our questions and chat a bit and went well beyond what we expected to accommodate my wife’s mobility problems, even arranging for a taxi to take us back to the train station as we were leaving. Also exceptional were the breakfasts. I cannot recommend both their Caribbean breakfast and their bagel with salmon and egg highly enough. Both were superb, and set us off on our day fully fueled and delightfully satisfied. The beds were very comfortable, and we both slept quite well each night we were there. We had the beds configured as twin beds to avoid a gap in the middle of a double-bed configuration, and that worked very well.

There is really nothing to complain about here. We had what is apparently the smallest room on the premises, because that was all that was available when we booked, but it was plenty large enough for my wife and me. It certainly did not impose any hardships or inconveniences on either of us.

Absolutely outstanding stay from start to finish. Anita & Denis cannot do enough for you, they are both absolutely amazing and such an asset to our stay. From bringing us fresh water, chocks & delightful homemade cookies, to our beautiful room overlooking the fells, a fantastic breakfast and exceptional service throughout our short stay. No detail was left out and they have both made our weekend truly memorable and cherished. The Easter Bunny at Breakfast was so kind and thoughtful. We had our honeymoon in the Lakes, and return often but The Archway is by far the best place we have stayed. You do not need hot tubs and fancy hotels, the warmth, care and personality of a guest house is absolutely the best thing ever. We shall absolutely be returning to stay and for longer next time too! thank-you so much indeed xxx
