Perfect location for what I needed and private parking. Room was fine and my bed was comfortable which is important! I would happily stay again. Staff were friendly and separate entrance to rooms outside pub made things easier. Didn’t have the opportunity to eat there so can’t comment regarding meals. It’s a pity there is no breakfast offered of any sort, would have been happy with a continental and a decent coffee in the morning!

Probably being picky but would have liked better quality tea and coffee choice in the room. No decaffeinated or hot chocolate and basic Nescafé only. However loved the big cups and saucers despite no spoons. It’s the little things that can a big difference if you happen to be travelling alone particularly!

Good bedroom, with large bathroom. Everything we needed in the room, and told if we wanted any more coffee milk etc to just ask for it. Nice local pub, serving great beer and delicious food. Just 20 mins walk from the city centre (and that's with 2 dogs sniffing everything on the way). Lots of green spaces close by, even a nature reserve, if you don't fancy the busy city.

My only small dislike was that the place looked tired and unloved at the back (car park and room access). Which, while staying here, we had to see every day. But I'm sure that will be addressed

Stayed here for 4 nights. Absolutely a lovely and convenient place. Ample of parking, very clean room with all necessary items provided ( dryer, shampoo, body wash, tea ,coffee, towels) . Despite its above a pub its very quite. TV in the room with free wifi. Heating is On and you can regulate as you wish. It really is cosy and warm ,so we turned the heating off at night time.Staff at the pub are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again.

The mattress in our room were a bit springy and digging...

Clean and comfortable. 20 minutes flat walk to centre of historic York. Friendly, helpful staff and excellent beer sold in the pub below. Safe car park to leave the car in whilst exploring the city. Nice fluffy towels, reasonable shower

Rather noisy, which is to be expected in room over a bar, but some of the closing up routines almost sounded as if in the room, rather than below. Could also hear people in corridor outside. The hanging shower door let through sounds, light and smells, from shower to bedroom. Stayed in room 2, a bit small but fine for a few nights.

Room was very clean and was as per photos on website. Towels shaped in a heart was a nice touch. Three large and small fully towels provided were perfect. Nice hot shower. Beds were comfy and we slept really well. Staff were helpful and friendly. Parking on site was added bonus and only a short walk into city centre.

Handle to ensuite needs attention. As does towel holder in ensuite. Did not affect stay though.

Convenient location to visit York. Was able to leave the car in the pub car park and catch the No 9 Park and Ride bus, just around the corner, and 10-15 minutes later you're in the center of York. Room was very clean and functional if a little small but fine for the two of us. Quirky bathroom set-up but worked fine and nice shower. TV in the room had Netflix and Prime, just don't forget to log out your account when you leave. Room was above a pub so expect some noise but didn't cause us any problems and it stops when the pub shuts.

Not a lot really. The only thing I would mention is that if you suffer from vertigo then you may not like the external stairs up to the B&B rooms, but that's being picky. For our stay the Nags Head suited our requirements.

Excellent location. Some areas of the property are a little tired, but real effort had been made to make the room modern, fresh and it was very clean. The staff that checked me in were very friendly. Great car parking. The rooms are accessed by an external fire escape style staircase. This is great if you are wanting to access your room outside pub opening times but maybe a challenge to some with mobility issues. The bar menu was good and food arrived quickly and was of good quality. Menu was largely standard pub grub, but locals were eating here - what better recommendation can there be? Overall great value for money for walking distance to York city centre. Wifi was excellent - good strength and reliable.

The hotel is quite clear that it doesn't offer breakfast - but the staff that checked me in found it difficult to suggest somewhere I could go for breakfast. This surprised me as it must be a question they are prepared for? The shower was a bit limp (water pressure) but it was warm and worked so can be forgiven.

Quiet simple room with my own shower and toilet. The landlord was exceptionally friendly, a great and very approachable guy! Very adequate place to stay, value price for a near to York city location: my room was clean, cosy with everything working as normal. Two cafes nearby for breakfast, one from 9am, landlord plans to offer on-site breakfast soon.

I did not meet any other guests (but was mainly out meeting friends).

Clean and comfortable en suite room with tea making facilities.

The lack of sound proofing. Our room was above the lounge and we could pretty much hear the entertainment word for word until closing time. Also, it seemed the place had new management not long before we arrived and as there was no chef, the only way to get meals was to travel to the town centre.

The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and were more than accommodating and helpful. Room was clean, bedding changed and extra tea and coffee supplies provided. It takes about 15/20 minutes to walk into the centre of town. In all i would stay here again.

It appeared when taps ran, shower in use or a toilet flushed a loud banging sound could be heard for 5-10 minutes after use and from other rooms. The music downstairs from the pub could also be heard until around 11/11.30pm at night. However to be expected staying at a pub so just for those with younger children to bear in mind. Unfortunately due to Covid and staff recruitment we were informed by a staff member they were not currently providing any food options.
