Good location. Clean and tidy. Good shower in the en-suite. Comfy bed.

No restaurant so decent breakfast not an option. Coffee machine in room but only 2 pods and no milk , so pretty useless really !! Room was small and is not what I would describe as 'Luxury Double' Room had no window and was quite dim and stuffy. Wouldn't book here again...!

The convenience of nearby restaurants, shops, and public transportation options made exploring the city a breeze. Excellent location, very clean, friendly staff, reasonably priced. Nice attention to detail throughout the hotel.

As some other reviews have mentioned the walls are thin and you can hear people and TVs from other rooms clearly. Our room was next to the cleaners' cupboard and they started working/talking loudly at 8.45am - a small gripe but not ideal if you want a lie-in.

The location was excellent, and right on the other side of the Park. When the Park closes, you can walk next to the River, which is brightly lit. When we arrived, the Hostess was a mine of information, showing us all the places of interest on a map that she gave to us. Especially, where Shambles is, and Shambles Market. Which is in the Heart of York.

We stayed at the time of the unprecedented Heatwave we had in September, and the Luxury room we were allocated was extremely hot. We did use the fan, and eventually we found the switch to turn the heated towel rail off in the bathroom. She also gave us an extensive list of Restaurants throughout York. Thank you.

We arrived 2 hours early, the lovely lady, Claire on reception offered to take our bags whilst we went to explore. When we advised we did not know York, as we were first timers, she got us a map and shown us where to go and how to get about. When we did check in Claire helped carry our luggage and shown us to our room. We was in Room 2. It was beautiful! Absolutely emaculate. The hotel was very quiet and peaceful and we both had an amazing sleep! We stayed for one night and stayed at the Hampton by Hilton our second night in York as a gift. They were incomparable. The Jorvik House was better in every way!

Excellent location: a short walk from the station, and from the river, and right opposite the beautiful Museum Gardens, which make a lovely way to stroll to the old city; yet far enough from the centre to be quiet and peaceful. Friendly 24 hour staff and nothing too much trouble. I visited during a heatwave and managed to change my room to one which was out of the sun, which suited very well; but in different weather or in winter this would be rather dark and depressing as the window is very small and high up. So I would ask for a different room next time.

The mini-bar in our room was very expensive and didn’t provide any diet drinks.

Room was nicely styled, large, clean and comfortable. Cowshed cosmetics in bathroom were good. Comfy bed, good shower. Great location - close to everything especially the lovely museum gardens.

The room, no. 4, a paid upgrade, has building works literally outside the window the noise was extremely intrusive and the hotel did not mention this ahead of our visit. An issue from 8,30 am until 4.30/5pm. This room is at the back of the hotel. Other things Weird intermittent wi-fi. Carpeting a bit tired, frayed in some places at the edges. Not enough hangers and no spoons for coffee randomly. Staff seemed surprised at the noise - which was odd as it's clearly not new. "its the neighbours" lol, nothing else was said.....

Greeted in the most welcoming way, so friendly and very helpful with directions of nearby shops and activities. The beautiful building itself is in an amazing location, opposite the museum gardens, a great shortcut to the main streets with lots to off in the gardens also. The Scandinavian theme runs consistently throughout and the room was outstanding. From visuals and colours to the cleanliness of the room. Modern utilities and the walk in shower was the best I've ever used. Complimentary sweets and a coffee maker, kettle and a mini bar full of drinks variety and snacks. In the morning after checkout before we went back for our train our host offered to hold onto our bags to save us carrying them around whilwt exploring the rich, cultured and history place of York. Would strongly and highly recommend and anytime I stay in York I will be revisiting here no doubt!

Really couldn't complain about a single thing, honestly.

The three principal strengths of Yorvik House were: (i) its location on Marygate opposite the old walls of the City, and an entrance to York Museum peaceful gardens and through the latter to the heart of the City and its attractions; (ii) the fact that it is itself part of the historic fabric of York in a quiet street alongside the remains of the original St Mary's Abbey; and (iii) its kind and efficient staff. It also has a back route to the Railway Station which takes 7 minutes by foot and avoids city traffic.

We could have been disappointed that it doesn't do a traditional full English breakfast in a dining-room; but it organises and delivers from a nearby bakery pastries, cereals and bacon butties! In any case, within a few hundred yards beyond the ancient walls are situated a wide range of eateries catering for every need.
