Hilton York

Breakfast(s) were very good; lots of veggie options. The welcome at breakfast and all staff on duty, great. Coffee (we had filtered not the self serve machine) was good too. Room clean, tidy and good view (but we did book the room with the view, so it should have been)

Checkin took quite a while, despite us being the only ones there at that time. I would descibe it as profunct but not welcoming. They also checked us in to a random room and not the room we booked (with balcony and view) so had to go back to reception to have that changed. It was changed BUT there was no acknowledgement of a mistake or indeed any apology... That in particular was not a good customer experience - pull your socks up Hilton, customers are what make your business work and you aren't the cheapest!

Location is perfect and staff very efficient and friendly

Room was tired with wallpaper starting to peel and cobwebs handi g from ceiling. Bathroom bath sealant going black in corners.

The location of the Hilton York is excellent. Right in the centre of the city with great views over Cliffords Tower and a car park on the doorstep. Our deluxe double room was newly decorated, very clean and had great views. The breakfast buffet was lovely. Staff were very friendly. We appreciated the choice to have no housekeeping staff enter our room while we were there. Any additional needs (extra tea bags, milk etc) were delivered to our door swiftly and courteously, upon request. Hand sanitiser was available throughout the hotel, especially near lifts.

Our deluxe double room was small and the en-suite even smaller. It had no fridge. The aircon unit rattled all night long - even though it was turned off. Whilst the food on the breakfast buffet was lovely, we were unimpressed by the lack of masks and hand sanitiser being used by many guests in the restaurant, whilst handling spoons etc. I appreciate this is not within the direct control of the hotel but it nevertheless affected our choice of food from the buffet.

The Hotel is well situated in walking distance of everything. A landmark Tower just opposite and the hop off buses just outside. The River 100 yards away. The breakfast was out of this world. Staff were excellent everyone smiling and polite. Loved my stay.

When I booked up I highlighted breakfast and then calculate. I should have checked that the breakfast had been added but I did not. When I got there they stated I had room only and no breakfast which cost me an extra £60 for 2 people. I could have stayed in Travelodge with breakfast and early entry /late exit and room wifi for less than i paid for the Hilton room only.

Room: Received an upgrade! Comfortable, clean and not noisy, Location: Beside the Clifford Tower. Easy walking distance to most of the York attractions. Breakfast: Full selection available including, full English, cold meats and cheese, scones, muffins etc. Parking: Valet parking is available on site. There is also a Pay and Display public site opposite the hotel.

No free WIFI unless you sign up for Hilton Honours. As I am no longer a HH member I did not have free WIFI access. I rang the Hotel 2 days prior to my visit at 20:55 to enquire about their valet parking but after several tries no-one answered.

Great location, only a couple of minutes walk to everywhere

No water in the room at all, had to call room service, who came quickly but I do think when you're paying this much there should at least be a bottle of water in the room. No power point next to the bed. Also extremely annoying that apparently I can't collect my Hilton Honors points, which was the reason I booked here, just because I booked through Booking.com and not direct. That's just ridiculous and I'm raising a formal complaint because this was never indicated anywhere. Although I'll bet they'll say its in some small print somewhere that no one would ever read.

The hotel is situated in a great location that makes it easy to walk to plenty of shops, restaurants and attractions. A.lovely smell from the AC greets you as you walk into the hotel (reminding me of some Las Vegas hotels) which gives a refreshingly pleasant first experience. The staff are very friendly and attentive, especially in the restaurant. An excellent Breakfast sets you up for the day. Plenty of choice and a well thought out buffet area means less time is spent queuing for food. Our room (Double Double) was nice and even though the bathroom was on the small side, it still managed to fit in a good bath/shower combo.

Dinner menu was a bit overpriced, but not as overpriced as the Valet parking which costs £25 per day! We found a cheaper long stay parking option 5 minutes walk away, it was a shame that Hilton seem content to charge this service as high as they do for hotel guests, as resorting to a cheaper option elsewhere slightly detracted from the overall experience

The check in was really good we were able to check in early which was a bonus. We used the hotels valet parking. The room was located on the 2nd floor and we had a lovely view of Clifford's tower, The hotel is in a central city location so you will always have noise from outside the hotel. We have stayed in city centre locations before and you will always have some noise from inconsiderate people and traffic noise, I think this is a given with city locations, this did not detract from the brilliant location. The staff were all really pleasant and very welcoming. Breakfast was good it had a great selection from continental to full English and an amazing range of breads and pastries. The breakfast staff were very nice and if you wanted something extra that was not on the buffet, nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely stay again and it is an absolute new favourite.

The parking was a bit expensive. £25 per day

location was perfect - could not have been better - most attraction under 5 mins walk and nothing over 10. Hotel was very clean and fresh feeling - reception staff really helpful Breakfast was incredible - loads of choice and really fresh and tasty View of tower from room was impressive Was given an early check in after I'd asked for one if possible - was impressed with that

there was a bit of a mess up with a dinner booking I had. It got resolved but I did feel my version of events was being questioned a bit! The room had a fab view but it was so noisy at night with the tourists and cars. It is a city so a level of noise was to be anticipated but it was quite intrusive and made sleeping difficult. Worth noting that the tower view rooms are not the quietest. The plug in the sink didn't stay down so you had to wash with the tap running which splashed everything with water and wasn't environmentally the best. No plug sockets next to the bed for phone chargers and terrible lighting in the bathroom for make up application - two of my big bugbears!

Excellent location (just next to the newly refurbished Clifford Tower); friendly staff and a spacious feel to the hotel despite its apparently cramped position. Valet parking was very efficient (though quite pricey at £25) and there is plenty of alternative parking adjacent to the hotel at the Clifford Tower car park (though again, pricey).

We liked the fact that the room had a bath and everything felt clean and new. The room was not quite as comfortable as some equivalent Hiltons that I have stayed in though. Room would have been even better if we had had a view of the tower instead of Castlegate!
