Very convenient location, walkable to good dining spots, parks and visitor center; historic ambience, spacious room with kitchenette, worked well for a vacation stay plus met my needs for deskwork I needed to get done, friendly and helpful front desk, hearty included breakfast with a pancake machine that was fun to watch

More towel bars and hooks would have been nice; kitchen faucet needed repair-cold water valve was turned off to avoid a dripping water faucet

Breakfast was included, which was nice. Basic fare, but hot and fresh. Excellent coffee. Location was convenient, and we were able to walk mostly everywhere we wanted to see/go. Room was very spacious and comfortable.

Received no assistance with luggage. Parking was expensive, a block away in a sketchy parking lot, and generally inconvenient.

The front desk staff was exceptionally helpful, professionally dressed, available 24/7. Breakfast had lots of choices though Continental-even a machine that turned out two freshly cooked pancakes. Location was in downtown Anchorage near Train station which was perfect for us. (But far enough away that train whistles did not keep you up. ) Had standing fan in room that was great for air circulation and background noise. Bed was super comfortable. Nice personalized hotel with historic charm. Highly recommend as a Very good value. Also appreciated elevator to upper floors.

Nothing I can think of....

Location was perfect! Within a 5 minute walk to Visitors Center, Trolley Ride, 49th State Brewery, Alaskan Museum and Tia’s Hot Dog Cart. Staff was very helpful and friendly.

No air conditioning so room got a bit stuffy, but large fan was in all rooms and windows open to let in breezes.

Had breakfast within a block at a crepes restaurant. Perfect for being close to all of downtown shops and restaurants. Had to pay to park the rental car across the street but that’s expected. Small, Victorian feel in the room and comfortable.

Not as expensive as other choices but the location was perfect for the downtown area. We had stayed at captain cooks hotel a few days earlier and that was about $100 more per night. Both close by to downtown.

We were unknowingly upgraded to a gorgeous corner suite. It was just amazing. The staff at the front desk and housekeeping were so friendly. Highly recommend the property.

I can't say I didn't like it, it's an historic hotel after all, but for such a large room, the bathroom was extremely small.

Everything - it is a hotel reminiscent of the older English Edwardian establishments. It is very quaint and stylish, with a very welcoming feel to the entire place. The suite we had was excellent, with lots of spacious room and well appointed with tea/coffee making facilities and very nicely decorated. The bar area, although closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, looked amazing and we could easily see ourselves enjoying evening drinks and a meal there - wonderful old world feel. The added bonus is the ghost I heard... that was a surprise as I had NO idea of the hotels haunted reputation before booking or upon our initial arrival.

Nothing!

Old world charm. Wonderful historic prints scattered throughout. Short easy walk to train station. Quiet spacious room. Comfortable bed. Terrific Mexican restaurant recommended to us by receptionist directly across road.

We liked everything.

Central downtown location close to the coastal trail. Clean room, simple but good breakfast with various options, friendly and helpful staff, very cool decor with old paintings and various historical artifacts.

Not at the fault of the hotel, but the area felt a little sketchy to be out too late. I wanted to walk to the trail to try to see the aurora, but didn’t feel safe doing so around midnight. I’m sure in busy season with more people around, it would be different. Only cons with my room was occasional vehicle noise due to proximity to the street, as well as the curtains being tough to get completely closed - the long days plus the streetlights outside made it impossible to get the room completely dark. Nothing that earplugs and facemask couldn’t remedy.

breakfast was very scanty

Good beautiful hotel, good bed and furniture. It was very hot and there was no air conditioning in the room. The fan helped a little. There is no kettle in the room, there is a coffee machine but no kitchen utensils. We opened the windows because of the heat, but the streets around are very noisy, especially in the evening and at night.
