Location was excellent being right on the plaza. It was like going back in time but in a good way.

We arrived on a Sunday so many of the restaurants were closed early with it being a long weekend but we ate at Cafe Brio on arrival and picked up dinner from an incredibly delicious Thai restaurant in town 👍 because we had our nine month beagle puppy and had to eat at the hotel. No hardship whatsoever lol

This is a historic hotel with a lot of charm. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a little small and funky (tradeoff for staying in an old building), but very clean. It was challenging to find a place in the area that sleeps 3 for a decent price. This place fit the bill.

The Arcata plaza has really degraded since the last time I was in town. Two of the bars and some other businesses have shut down and some homeless people have taken over. With an old building, you can definitely hear your neighbors above, who on Friday got in after the bars closed and were pretty noisy. Quite a bit of street noise too, but it died down after 11:00.

Interesting old-school hotel in the heart of downtown Arcata. People claim it may be haunted. I did not experience any paranormal occurrences while there. However, my toothbrush was not in the same place where I left it the night before! There are plenty of restaurants and activities within a short walk from the property, including an excellent sushi place adjoining the lobby and an axe throwing club down the street.

Parking is only available on the street. The hotel will provide a parking tag that allows you to park overnight on the side streets. If you are on a motorcycle, secure or remove any valuables just to be safe. It is a fairly noisy during the day, but that is due to the overwhelming amount of loud cars and obnoxious drivers in town.

The hotel is centrally located so very convenient for being able to eat, shop, stroll. As Europeans we appreciated this feature very much! The bathtub was a big hit with an overtired mom.

Even with the windows closed and earplugs in, my kids had trouble sleeping. On Saturday night there was a fireworks display right across the street as well as loud drunken voices until late at night. Many loud motor vehicles seem to use G street as a thoroughfare, and because our room looked right out onto that street it was hard to get a decent night's sleep. The beds were OK, not great. Breakfast was available, but the coffee was very bitter and refills/tidying didn't happen as punctually as they could have.

Exactly what I wanted from the room, it was a beautiful hotel, very nice workers, all super helpful and friendly, and the location was amazing, everything is close by, food, drinks, minimarts, just seconds away from the super cute hotel; the room very cute, a little beat up in some places but it is older so totally understandable and it fits the theme of the hotel, and the old style claw foot bathtub was amazing, especially with the copper pipes all around. Definitely would go again as soon as I can.

Totally not the hotel’s fault, but there was very loud street noises for most of the day and into the night till the bars close, even with the windows closed you can hear everything outside, from people’s car engines, to the bass speakers in some cars, all the way to the older cars/busses and semi’s, it was pretty loud even on the 3rd floor. also You can hear people yelling all day long too but that’s just Arcata, not the hotel’s fault other then maybe needing to get thicker windows.

The hotel was clean, room was spacious and filled with old-world charm. The location was very good for walking to restaurants and shopping. The Farmer's Market was very enjoyable. The staff was friendly, check in and check out were no problem. Beautiful scenery, good hiking thru the woods.

The rooms didn't seem to have air conditioning, one could open windows for air but there were no screens. The ceiling fan helped. Also, the rooms do not come equipped with hair dryers - but you can get one from the front desk.

I loved the vintage decor and comfortable room. This hotel was from the 1800s and I really enjoyed the history and clawfeet bathtub. Overall the room was very clean and we had a great nights sleep.

There was around 10 homeless people right next to the property. This was my first time in Arcata/Humboldt county so I was shocked at the homeless people in the middle of town square. There was no parking lot so I had to park my 2023 Dodge SRT in the street. As you can guess I struggled to sleep worrying for my car.

Very charming inside, felt like we were stepping back in time. Tall ceilings, great woodwork, plaster walls, radiators. Right on the plaza, but we had no noise issues all night on a Sunday night in August. Beds were comfortable.

Water fixtures offer high pressure and waste a lot of water, but it wasn't uncomfortable beyond the guilt of a Californian coming off decades of drought. Clawfoot tub is super charming, but I could see it being difficult for a larger or less fit person to navigate.

The location is right on the square. Didn’t have to drive anywhere all weekend. Staff was friendly and helpful and had no issues. The building is really old and historic, but well kept, so though it’s not the most sound proof as far as outside noise and hallways, it is understandable and expected. We were able to walk to food, shopping, theatres, bars, the university, hiking and woke up to a farmers market right outside on our first morning there!

My only issue with the hotel itself is that the beds aren’t very good. I’ve stayed in places with much worse beds, but not many. There also wasn’t a refrigerator in the room, but i has a small cooler and they have ice, so no biggie.

This is a vintage hotel with lots of old-fashioned character but updated for modern comfort and safety.

Personally, it's a little too close to downtown for me, quite busy, and there's no dedicated parking, although street parking (with a permit provided by the hotel) is fairly easy to find. This would probably be a plus for visitors more into the city/social scene than I am.
