Padre Oaks

Very nice, calm atmosphere (it kind of gave me the feeling of being in a small mountain village when I arrived there). The room and bathroom were clean and they had everything we needed. Location was good as well - safe and convenient; everything is very accessible by car. I did not find it too loud for sleeping considering it was close to the road - had no issues with that at all.

The customer service was ok, but it could be a bit better (staff could be a bit more friendly/hospitable). The pressure of the shower in the bathroom could be stronger too, but it was managable.

My BF and I needed to book a last minute place after a disastrous initial booking at the Country Inn - Marina. (FYI don't go there if cleanliness and safety is a priority for you.) We fortunately found Padre Oaks. Its not "fancy" but it is very clean, very cozy, very comfortable, and DEFINITELY safe. The neighborhood is great - right across the street from a Whole Foods and other shopping, and you're only 5 minutes from downtown Monterey. The staff is friendly, the bed was comfy, the room was clean, it had plenty of parking and my car was just outside my room, and I felt safe and secure there. I'm grateful to have discovered this hidden gem.

After reading so many negtive reviews of motels in the area, this seemed the best choise and it was. We later passed by other motels and they were all on the road, while this motel's rooms were off the road. It was very comfortable motel, clean, in driving distance to other parts othe city - (although we are runners so we ran to the area of the canery and beaches. ) We were definitely happy with our choice.

Being ready for us to go right to our room and treating us like family, since we have actually come to know many of the people who are responsible/own/manage this Padre Oaks facility. Yes, indeed. We remember them and they remember us from many years of visiting. Clean, comfortable, peaceful, friendly, close to many sights and activities.

No dislikes.

I like that it's a small hotel. It felt very safe and cozy. You can see the rest of the rooms from your window. There is only one level, so you don't have to worry about people bowling upstairs all night. I have stayed at many different hotels in Monterey, and this one is definitely one of my favorites. The bed was comfortable, there was plenty of lighting in the room, and the bathroom has a window that you can crack open. I like fresh air, so this was a big deal to me. They don't offer breakfast, but you're super close to everything, so it works out. They also don't charge a bunch of fees for amenities you don't even use, which I love!

The parking lot is shaped like a U. You can pull in, but you have to back out slowly and carefully. I didn't mind it because you can see your car from your room. It's a little weird, but not a deal breaker.

Rooms are absolutely immaculate. Room had everything we needed including a nice sitting area, which you don't always get with small motels. Lovely hanging baskets with flowers and palm trees outside :) Very quiet and peaceful in the evenings and at night, no loud banging doors or other guests' TVs etc. Great location just five minutes drive from downtown Monterey. Also very close to Whole Foods. We stayed for 4 days and didn't want to leave. Brilliant value for money!

Parking lot is very tight indeed. Very glad our rental car had a back up cam!

Cute motel away from the busy warf area. The bed was firm and comfortable. The room was clean and had all necessities. It appears that the bathroom has recently been remodeled and was very nice. We would definitely stay here again.

There were many rooms available upon check-in so I questioned why they gave us a room that had broken blinds that couldn’t be opened. I included a picture of the blinds. It definitely wasn’t a dealbreaker but it was annoying.

The room was great, right at the back as requested! It was really spacious and clean and had all the amenities one could ask for! It was our first time staying there and we definitely hope that we will come back!

We stayed during the Car Week in August 2023 so the value for money was not great! Not a fault of Padre Oaks though!

The room was very clean and well appointed. The whole facility has been updated and newly remodeled. Very comfortable bed and lotsa nice pillows. Nice sitting area in the outdoor patio. There are 3 parking spaces for larger vehicles. I found this as a great feature since I drive a 3/4 ton pickup truck. The first time I tasted decent coffee with the in room coffee maker.

A little pricey however within the range of other hotels in the area.

Exceptionally clean room and on the larger side. The room seemed renovated. Excellent location - 5 min from Monterey downtown and about 10 min from Carmel. Definitely a 8+ rated stay.

Cost was comparatively higher for the facilities - basically just the room. No breakfast or laundry facilities. Could also be due to the memorial day weekend.
