Red Lion Hotel Monterey

The room was nice with everything we needed like a hairdryer, fridge, microwave, cable tv, ice machine, AC, snack machines nearby, and coffee maker in the room. They set us up on the third floor which was awesome! It was a bonus that there was a gas station right up front. The shopping center is across the street. It was also nice driving downhill to the wharf and beach. You get a great view of the ocean.

I didn't like that there was no breakfast and the restaurant wasn't open. I know there was.no breakfast because of the rise in covid cases again. We did get an email prior to our trip to notify us of this. There were some homeless people around there, but they didn't bother us like the ones at the wharf.

The rooms are super spacious! the women at the front desk who received us was extremely friendly and accommodating. We just finished a long strenuous hike and just made it there before the restaurant "Urban Kitchen" that was inside had closed. they had the best all you eat salad bar that came with a hot plate of turkey and roasted vegetables. the tomato soup- to die for! the hotel was really cozy, I just wish we were motivated enough to experience the pool and hot tub that were open until 10! it was awesome they had a Keurig in the room, microwave, tv, and very easily controlled heater/ac. they had no problem with accommodating a late check out which we didn't need but knowing this place had it was more comforting and relaxing. only sad thing was they didn't have continental breakfast. still a great stay to me!

The room was wonderful. Big enough for our family of 4. The bathroom was great size and it was definitely comfy beds. I loved the openness of the hotel. It wasn't like a stuffy closed off hotel we normally stay at. We stayed all week and the pool was spectacular for us and the kids. The hot tub was nice too.

I did not like that you could go from the parking lot to the pool without privacy. It felt like anyone could just come in and swim with no way of even knowing if they were staying at the hotel. Also the floors to our hotel room were so slippery when we got out of the pool but that's about all I can complain about. It was a great stay!

The room was a little dirty. The rooms seemed a little unfinished. Definitely could be upgraded. But over all it was a decent and the heated pool and hot tub plus location made up for any downfalls.

The staff were amazing and the beds were very comfortable. The pool is heated and we went in every night despite the cold fog. Parking is available all around the hotel so theres convenience to get to your vehicle/room. The rooms open into hallways that are open to outside. It is a very convenient, budget friendly, family friendly place to stay in monterey. I would definitely stay here again.

There was a party going on in the room next to us until 3:00 am in the morning they were smoking in their rooms and we almost were charged for the room next to us smoking. After talking with the manager they realized that it was not us. I let her know that we are in our sixties are in bed by 9:00 pm almost every night. I was grateful that she listened and refunded the 200.00 dollars or we may not have ever returned to the Red Lion Hotel. Appreciate all the staff and we will be back

I like how they tried to get the lowest level room as possible since my father is a senior and has a hard time to walk and there is no elevator. They accept our dogs at the hotel and cheap rate for them to stay at the hotel. The room was decent and we were close to the pool and had a pretty good view. Close drive to the freeway and Monterey downtown, Fishermans wharf. Gas station is right in the same parking lot as the hotel.

What I didn't like is that we had to always call for cleaning service, towels and toiletries. Beds were not made when we would leave for the day. I was informed of this by an email we had received from the hotel a day before and at the arrival. There should have been a discount for this.

The location of the hotel was great. It's right off the highway and extremely close to the mall. The room was expansive. My room also had a door to the parking lot which made packing and unpacking easier. Also had plenty of plugs near the bed to charge electronic devices.

The walls looked like they could've been refurbished as well as the ceiling. The air conditioning unit looked old and was dirty. The blinds and curtains on the windows didn't fully cover the windows. Although it has a prime location, you could easily miss the turn onto the property.

Our stay was excellent. We didn't have a remote for the TV. The staff at the front desk said she couldn't get a person to deliver the remote control until the next day

I didn't like the housekeeper knocking on my door before checkout time. He knocked on my door at 10:40AM

I loved how both rooms were conjoined and could walk freely through both back and forth!! Love the atmosphere it felt extravagant! Nice area and quiet! I felt safe and secure! Parking was beyond the best from any hotel I have ever stayed at! This will be our go to place moving forward in Monterey Bay!

I wish we had a microwave in our room rather than walking to lobby to use the common one. And coffee in both rooms since the number of people were of two rooms.

We stayed at this property a few years back and honestly it was not updated or very clean. However, they have recently changed the name and they are now making some very nice updates and changes to the facility. What drew us back to this specific hotel was the location and pricing! The location is perfect for a full Monterey/Carmel sight seeing trip. The location is literally right off of the highway 1 and you can just drive straight down Munras to get to the mall or fisherman’s warf. Not to mention it’s only 5-15 min from Carmel, 17mile drive, Cannery Row and Ocean Veiw blvd. Now if your looking for luxury, scenery or larger rooms this might not be the place to stay at. But, if your not planning on staying at the Hotel all day and you just need something clean, with a great location and with the basic amenities, then I would definitely recommend this Hotel. In closing the staff were very polite and attentive.
