Mariposa Inn and Suites

We come frequently we love the room and the area of the hotel and the fire place

The front desk person that works in the evening was simply horrible to the point I thought the hotel was under new management . My husband and I travel frequently to this Inn and have never felt so unwelcome when checking in. It was like she didn't want to be at work.

We enjoyed the location of the room, the balcony connected to the room, and both the amazing shower and tub. The room was quiet; letting very little, if any, noise in or out of the room. The water was very quick to heat when needed in the shower, tub and sink.

Not so much as "didn't like" as "things, for the sake of this list, that could be better". The bed (spring bed) was lumpy, firm and made a lot of noise when moving. The toilet paper was quite thin, ran out quickly if not rationed strategically. The bathroom had a tissue box with only 3 tissues, with no spare box. It's the Mariposa Inn and Suites, not The Mark Hotel; I wasn't expecting luxury, I was expecting a great hotel. The cost, in my experience, is well worth the stay

EVERYTHING! The moment I walked into the lobby the lady at the counter was nice and completed the check in process in a timely manner. She also realized I parked in the handicap parking and offered an accessible room. I didn’t even think to ask for one but boy am I glad she did that! Having the accessible room made the stay even that more enjoyable. The room was clean, and comfortable. The jacuzzi was amazing. We will definitely be back. Two things to note: upon arriving and pulling our things out of our car there were some kids skateboarding in the parking structure, which made it super loud and actually hurt the ears and head. Also, whomever was above us was SUPER LOUD WALKERS lol. My guess is there were kids because they jumped A LOT BUT we still enjoyed our stay. So this comment is more for people visiting rather than the hotel. Have some consideration for OTHER guests when you visit hotels. You are not the only ones there!

Hot breakfast like a waffle maker or pancake griddle would be great!

The Mariposa Inn was super cute with its blue white color scheme. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it was located next to a shopping center. This was very convenient for our stay and we definitely visited the Whole Foods for snacks more than we needed to. The staff was very helpful when we asked for extra towels, which we were able to grab from the lobby. The room itself was very spacious and clean. The beds were fairly comfortable and had loads of pillows.

I did not particularly enjoy the breakfast when we stayed. The breakfast consisted of your choice of plain bagel or toast, cereal, yogurt, and juice. I’m more of an eggs and bacon type of person but this is me just being nit picky. The upstairs of our “family room” also did not have an ac unit to my knowledge but it stayed pretty cool. The windows did open and the upstairs did come with a ceiling fan.

The location was great and convenient for both Monterey and Carmel day trips. We really enjoyed the two rooms suites as we had two families staying together and it gave a place for the baby to nap while the adults could still hang out.

The “light” continental breakfast was very light and a few more options would have been nice (especially fruit). Some of the facilities, while generally well-maintained, needed some updating including the carpet, the plumbing in one bathroom and our door handle. However, staff was prompt about fixing things.

The location was perfect and had shops and restaurants close by. The room was a bit small but we did have 2 beds. Overall great stay and great place

It is my assumption the rooms do not have carpet as it is a pet friendly establishment. The guests staying in the room directly above us were very loud or perhaps without any carpet to absorb the sound, made it very loud in our room. Of course this is nothing on the hotel, but front desk staff was very helpful when we made them aware.

Loved the in room jacuzzi tub and fireplace. Room was spacious and for the most part, clean. With the exception of the bathroom. Bed was super comfy!

The bathroom toilet seat and front of toilet were dirty. The shower would not maintain a temperature and would never get hot. It jumped from cold to scolding for a few seconds to ice cold. There were also ants in the bathroom. It's extremely noisy. You can hear everything. The street outside is very busy so you hear cars all night.

Location was 30 minutes walk from Monterey Wharf, but close to shopping centre and restaurants (over the road) and easy to access from highway. This is more private than some of the other motels we walked past on the way where the swimming pools were at the front of the property next to a main road. Room was large. Parking felt secure. Swimming pool and jacuzzi were great. Breakfast was good.

Wifi strength was poor in our room, which was furthest away from the reception. Our 'balcony' was a patio that faced the main road. Ran out of milk on our first morning at breakfast (difficult to have the cereals on offer without it!).

Very clean! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable!

The Murphy bed was missing a leg/handle, so the bed was slightly tilted which was annoying for a light sleeper. The shutters on all windows and balcony were kinda broken. Easily fixed by us, but screens were also full of holes. The carpet tack strips on the stairs to the master bedroom were poking through the carpet. All of this was really not a big deal but seems like easy fixes for the property management if they are aware of it.

I loved the hotel and the staff was super friendly. The hotel was close by many locations we wanted to visit with out traveling hours on the road. Closed by Carmel, and many places to explore.

The only issue, was that the rooms don’t have many furniture to stored your clothes, I have to keep my clothing inside my suitcase. Plus the restroom needs an update with a longer sink. We did not have room for our personal items .
