The Occidental Lodge

On arrival, Ryder was awesome. Super nice, friendly, helpful and informative. He even offered to help take our bags upstairs. It was so peaceful. Standing outside my room at 3 in the morning enjoying a cup of coffee, you could hear the crickets. It's so quiet at night you can actually get a good night's sleep. Shops and restaurants were literally right across the street.

Only thing was the lights on wall by beds were off set and the switch to turn on was very low, difficult for me due to my back.

Perfectly located in the pretty small town Occidental. Just 10min from russian river and ~25min from the beach at bodega bay. Very nice staff.

Unfortunately, the price on arrival was much higher than when we had booked it on booking.com, which had never happened to me. Other guests had the same problem. The staff tried to argue that the prices changed due to the long weekend, but it doesn’t seem fair/legal to advertise lower prices upon booking and change them when you arrived. They recommended to call them directly for reservations avoiding booking.com, which is probably a good advise in general.

We were given a newly remodeled room which exceeded our expectations in light of the reasonable cost. Very quiet and located in a quaint village within walking distance of eateries and gift shops.

The staff were friendly and helpful but not aware of which restaurants were open. We were referred to the written info inside the room which was not current information. We ended up phoning restaurants ourselves to identify which were open. Other than that, we were very pleased with the accommodations.

Wanted to have our room refreshed day 2, did not happen, young women at the desk was very sweet , apologized & gave us fresh towels :) Friday night crowds came in , very very loud stomping around in the room on top of ours :( thank goodness they finally went to bed :)

The location is fantastic, it’s tucked away and quiet but right there & it was spacious and comfortable. we had our dog and it was convenient and amenable for him.

The bathroom needed a vinegar wash down as there was mildew on the walls which made the room smell a bit. it may have helped to keep the room windows open between vacancies as there are no windows on the back side, including the bathroom.

The location was great, we got to town Friday night with a farmer's market right across the street and the perfect breakfast location the next morning right across the street. The only downside was we were in a downstairs room and at 12:30 in the morning our upstairs neighbors came back to their room very drunk and VERY loud. They woke us up from a deep sleep and no one was answering the front desk phone. I had to bang on the ceiling to get them to be quieter, but they still stumbled around loudly for another 45 minutes.

Love that it is located within walking distance from some great restaurants. Also only a 20 min drive from the bodega bay beaches. It is pet friendly too, which is very important to us because we love to bring our furkids along on our vacations!

The only downside is that the walls are quite thin and we had a very noisy neighbor in the room above us walking heavily back and forth late into the night.

The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was clean. The heater worked great. Loved the small table and two chairs. Also like the chargers on the night stands. Very convenient!

It would have been nice to have a soft rug on the floor. The water dripped out of the shower (the doors weren't sealed properly). The water pressure was low. It would have been nice to have a removable shower head in addition to the rain shower head. A larger tv mounted right in front of the bed would have been nice. The tv was very small and off to the side. An indoor jacuzzi would be a nice addition!

Perfect location to stay while walking the Camino de Sonoma Stages 4-6 (if you can work out shuttling). Beautiful view of the charming town from our window. Nice remodeled bathroom and cork floors. A larger refrigerator than normally found in motel rooms.

I was super impressed by how incredibly courteous and accommodating the staff was and appreciated how they helped with last minute changes. Hotel is in an amazing location; even though it is part of the Occidental community just on top of the hill it feels private and intimate, great pool surrounded by the forest, quiet and peaceful …would have loved to have stayed longer but definitely will return

please stock more towels and upgrade the coffee pots in the rooms
