Truckee Donner Lodge

We were a family of 4 and the hotel room wth two double beds was great The decor all over the lodge was quaint. The rooms clean and cosy The staff were kind; didn't interact unless you wanted/needed them too. The breakfast that was included rotated btwn scrambled eggs and sausage vs. Cheesy Omelette + bacon. Plus of course fruits (apples & oranges), breads, bagels, English muffins, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal packages for self serve. The automatic pancake machine was very cool. And the 24 hr coffee, tea, hot chocolate machine and Water refilling station/fountain in the lobby were all nice touches. There was a window ice scraper and shovels left near the reception desk for guests to use, which we appreciated since we arrived to Truckee just in time to experience some heavy snow. Truckee Donner Lodge was perfect for our ski holiday at Palisades Tahoe. We booked 5 nights but ended up checking out a day early bc we realized 3 days of skiing was enough, so we lost our money for the 5th/last night stay. But that was clearly stated in the booking.com policy so we accepted that.

Lack of variety in breakfast fruits and hot foods Disposable Paper plates, plastic utensils and cups but understandable given food service is all self serve.

Breakfast was nicely laid out, the staff member who worked the area was extremely nice and friendly. Our room was very clean, bathroom well stocked, nice towels. Thankfully the air conditioning was working very well and much needed. The bed was very comfortable. We also had nice chats with the hotel staff member working the front checking/out counter.

Not really walking distance to the shops or restaurants. Lots of new building across the street but our room window was on the opposite side of construction, so no noise. Although Highway nearby you could not hear it!

Close to Tahoe Donner ski slopes and Truckee downtown and the restaurants. I think this hotel is underrated. It had all that we could ask for and was a bit cheaper than other options around here. Wifi was good, breakfast is the standard basic fare but works for us.

Towels has the smell of sunscreen and the bed also had a moldy smell. I was starting to sneeze by the morning. If the hotel staff is reading this, please clean the beds and towels better. My stay was excellent except for this issue. General cleanliness of the hotel was good other than this.

The location, it was close enough to Lyft for a reasonable cost to The Palisades, where we attended a festival. Clean room and comfy bed.

There was a huge spider in our room, and it just freaked me out a bit. Blended in so well with the carpet, lucky I spotted it. Carpets need updating, smelled old! End breakfast a couple hours later, 6:30am-8:30am is a little to early for some of us.

Great location for skiing snowboarding at Boreal. It’s located right off highway 80. There’s a gas station across the street and many restaurants just minutes of driving away. Hotel is clean, mattresses are comfortable, breakfast is good - there are always hot foods. Free coffee from a vending machine 24/7. We stay there all season long for Boreal and Palisades.

Big room, hygienic and ok bathroom (bit old, but all worked fine). Hotel felt safe, kind staff and delicious breakfast. Nice location: short drive to Reno or Lake Tahoe.

There was a shortage of tables and chairs in the breakfast area, but that's the only thing. Oh! And the pool wasn't really inviting.

The staff was so friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was a real bonus with eggs, meat, yogurt, granola and all the other choices. The pool and hot tub were clean and a pleasure to use.

This lodge was very nice. Our room was big and the bed was really comfy. Loved having a pool and jacuzzi as well as as the laundry facilities they offer. The location was pretty good, it was right off the highway so it was easy to travel back and forth. The continental breakfast was a nice addition too. Would definitely stay again.

My only issues were the wifi wasn’t very good, it was spotty and disconnect randomly but also located in the woods so not entirely unexpected. Our big problem was our room keys, they would lock out randomly from rooms or door accesses. Sometimes wouldn’t work at all even after being reactivated.

Staff did its best to help/accommodate needs… but still under Covid restrictions so only so much they could do. (No daily maid service/or delivery of supplies to room- breakfast all individually wrapped items- mask required). Hotel followed guidelines and were very friendly trying to make the best of opening :) . Not luxury hotel, but clean, quiet, comfy and can walk to Donner Lake State Park! It was a relaxing stay.

It’s so hard with staffing shortages & hotel just starting up after Covid shut downs…. Rooms were clean and they were happy to give you supplies at front desk…the elevator is slow and only 1 for 3 floors… I would take stairs down to lobby… but couldn’t use to go up (floor doors locked) maybe change that? And a few lights in halls were out blinking… all easy fixes… was very pleased overall

The facilities are clean, the staff is very accommodating and pleasant and it is very reasonable priced. The continental breakfast adds to the value. Although the pool area is small and plain, it was refreshing, clean and nice to relax in along with the spa. It is located next to a campground (5 min walk) near Donner Lake and nice lagoon, which is beautiful!

Rooms don't have much natural light and the location is close to Interstate 80, so freeway noise is a factor.
