Gorgeous hotel brimming with history and a sort of cozy grandeur. The staff is friendly, capable and for the most part unflappable. They went above and beyond to meet my needs. My room was beautiful and so comfortable. The sheets were soft and welcoming and the fixtures were perfection. All in all a lovely time!

Not much anyone can do about this given the constraints of history and the time the hotel was built, but the bathroom was cramped and hard to move around in and the room was a little too impinging (except for the tall ceilings). I felt a bit claustrophobic. In addition, there was one staff member that made me feel as if my dog was not welcome, merely tolerated. Seemingly excessive concern that he might shed or damage the furniture (which is, indeed, lovely and worth preserving). It seems to me, though, that it must be a hard row to both welcome pets and worry about keeping everything pristine. Those two activities have proven sadly incompatible for me personally.

Hotel is located in historic district within a short walk to the railroad station. Staff is super friendly. Entire hotel has antique furnishings and decor. Onsite restaurant has excellent dinner options. Saloon and bar offer drinks, food and entertainment. Spa can be used without an extra charge. Staff offers tour of the facilities.

Room did not have a coffee maker. Coffee maker in common area ran out of coffee and should have a second coffee maker in the common area to avoid that from happening. Mattress in queen bed was not heavy enough to stay in place.

The building location is wonderful, allowing us to park and then walk around downtown. We enjoyed the lounge very much - drinks & live entertainment! Our waitress was attentive and very pleasant. The hotel is beautifully restored and decorated. Our bathroom was more functional than many motel rooms are, with adequate counter space, towel bars and supplies. Nice shower but kind of weak water pressure. Although it was quite warm out and the cooling system has a tough time of it, we were able to stay comfortable.

The toilet was one of the old and low to the floor ones, making it more difficult for older folks. The bed was too soft for our liking but that isn't unusual. We felt the price of the room was a bit much but still enjoyed our one-night stay.

enjoy the past as you enter and book your room in this historic hotel. if you enjoy the old and quality of the past this is the place to visit. the vintage furniture and wallpaper is original. all of the fantastic woodwork is remarkable. it is a fun property to visit. parking is made available and convenient.

what is not to like are the old and not friendly fixtures , such as bathroom fixtures with not enough room to put your shaving kit or any makeup products. the air conditioner works and cools but it will keep you awake because of the noise. this is not an ergonomic design. electrical pugs not in a convenient location. that being said it is over 100 years old and we wouldn’t expect much more. after the third visit to this hotel I will book a newer and more modern accommodations.

Built in 1887, the hotel has been renovated but retains its original charm and is well-kept. Wallpaper was pretty, woodwork magnificent, and our bed was comfortable. Nice view from the 4th floor. Staff were very helpful. Location in the historical part of Durango was an exciting place with lots of youth and energy. Our room had a journal with guest entries from past years.

Our room and bathroom were small but clean. Parking was free, but lots were a half-block or more away. Some travelers would have difficulty with steps entering the hotel and in a number of inside places.

This is a really cool hotel. Love the history and original decor it still has. This is a classic old hotel that has done an awesome job of making everything comfortable for guests. Clean. Kinda elegant in an old time way. Fun. Comfortable. Loved the restaurant/bar downstairs. I went down for a late night glass of wine and something sweet to eat. The bartender was so friendly. Gave me excellent suggestions and I was back in my room watching a movie with wine and dessert in no time. Rooms/beds are comfortable and clean. Bathrooms too. This is really a hotel to treat yourself to. Just lovely.

Everything was awesome. Some may find the squeaky floor in my room unpleasant. I liked it. Adds character.

The staff and hotel are exceptional! It is a real old west hotel and Saloon. It is supposedly haunted but it is definitely historical. The renovation is beautiful. Every detail has been carefully and beautifully crafted. It has secret hiding spots and little doors that the staff is happy to show you. They offer a tour of the hotel as well - we missed our chance but I hope to be back here one day! They boast the largest collection of victorian american furniture in the world I believe. The hotel was built shortly after the town was extablished and has been here ever since. We were caught in a winter storm and ended up extending our stay a couple of days. The staff granted our every wish, informed us of extra amenities and took our reservation for the hot tub right then. The hotel is beautiful and comfortable, the staff amazing, the location perfect! You couldn't ask for anything more! Well.... maybe one ghost. We didn't have any supernatural experiences during our stay about which I have mixed feelings. lol.

It is a beautiful property with great perks like local coffee in the morning and 3 restaurants! It is a central part of the history of the town and therefore is central to everything you could want to see and visit on Main. We had too much to do on our three-day weekend and ended up having to prioritize until we can return next time!

This isn't really a negative, but visitors of the hotel should have realistic expectations for staying at a small, historic hotel. Everything is original or appropriate victorian-period furniture, so it can't be perfectly spotless and some things may be chipped, but it's all part of the charm.

Cool old hotel. Staff was fantastic. Overall vibe was fun.

Had dinner on site and thought it would be a more upscale experience at the price and location. It was ok. Service was not great. Never got a refill, check took a long time to arrive, lobster was over cooked and a filet mignon should not have a sauce all over it like a Salisbury steak. Still tipped well, cuz we’re nice, but you may want to check other options before spending 300 bucks on dinner.
