We love this place! We came back after years especially to fresh up memories since the time we used to live in the area. The owner of the place are just wonderful and the night with Jazz in The side door ( next to place) was the reason we came to this very unique place. The Jazz Brunch on Sunday morning we enjoyed a lot too! The rooms are lovely and you feel a little bit like coming home. We have to come back during winter to light up the 🔥 fire in the room.

The breakfast in the morning is just muffins and the or coffee. We would prefer some toast, butter and Marmelade, but that was just the only small thing I personally missed.

Location is perfect for touring the area and grounds and common rooms are lovely. The breakfast was very good and included with the stay. The staff is welcoming and helpful. During our stay, the inn was quiet and restful as it was not totally full.

The only suggestion I have is to put another smaller chair in the room so that both people can sit down. There was literally no place in the room for my husband and I to sit at the same time. The four poster bed was lovely and traditional but too high and not conducive for seating. A few hooks for hanging things would also be helpful.

Breakfast was good, especially for my husband who has no allergies. I need gluten and dairy-free food, and occasionally I am pleasantly surprised when it is offered. The Old Lyme Inn did not offer these options, but then again, I did not tell them ahead of time about my allergies, so my bad! I instantly liked the owner, who met us when we arrived and showed us to our room, which I loved. It was spacious and comfortable with a roomy private bathroom.

?? It was pretty great overall

Definitely the beauty of the place and the service. Why go to New England to stay in a typical hotel room when you can stay at a historic mansion impeccably maintained? One night we got back very late and wanted some coffee. The manager personally took care of us and a waitress got us a delicious espresso and a latte. At no charge!!! That I call great hospitality.

The staff was upbeat and helpful, and the Inn is an historic and lovely treasure. On one late afternoon of my stay, an acoustic guitar soloist played on the outside patio for happy hour. I really enjoyed his music.

The bathroom could use some counter space, and the windows did not stay open on their own. I like fresh air at night.

The staff the Side Door Cafe jazz the back door key the rabbits the woodsy trail out back cross-over street access to riverside and Florence Griswold gardens fresh air, tranquility and friendliness (of course it was off-season...???)

What could have been better? Let me know?????

This is a lovely spot for a short or longer term visit. The location is very convenient, the facility itself is charming, and the staff was very friendly. COVID-related restrictions limited our ability to enjoy the full breadth of the experience but we look forward to returning post-COVID.

Given that the excellent onsite restaurant was largely closed due to COVID, I think some features such as small refrigerators in the room could be added to add to in-room enjoyment while cutting back on the need daily housekeeping - i.e., making things more like an Air B&B until things return to normal.

The Old Lyme Inn is easy to access from I95, in a wonderful town, is very gracious in it's furnishings, and was great for a short-stay. Upon our arrival the fireplace was going in our room, and we fell welcome and cozy. The bathroom was large, and deluxe. Nice bathrobes, in-room coffee, and all the fancy touches. We had dinner in the in-house restaurant, and enjoyed the bar. The next morning - Sunday - we enjoyed the brunch. The Inn staff was very welcoming and friendly.

The room was a bit dark - basically two lamps in a very large room. The Inn is quiet after 10pm - no full-time staffing of the front desk or services. If you're happy with quiet, you will love it! Just don't go looking for late-night food or drink, or service. It is all shut-down after 10pm. In lots of ways this is very nice.

The Old Lyme Inn was charming ,friendly staff, great location.

Our room was dated and worn although comfortable. When we mentioned it when checking out. We were told It was the next room to be remodeled and that many of the rooms have already been remodeled. The room should be left empty until remodeled and updated.

A charming inn with a very attentive staff. In addition to our lovely room there were 2 restaurant spaces and library to enjoy, and in warmer weather a large inviting terrace shaded by an ancient tree where I imagine food service is available. There is also a jazz club with world class performers, attracting music lovers from both near and far.
