Hotel Breakwater South Beach

Staff was very easy to deal with. We had an issue with the first room which got resolved immediately by the receptionist Lilly. Very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a huge bedroom. Complimentary Water and coffee in the room.

The room would need to be pre-checked before a guest checks into the room. Our first room had a paint smell as it seemed to have been painted recently. There was a paint tray in the room as well. The receptionist was very helpful and moved us to another room. Florida law doesn't permit windows that can be opened in higher levels which made it quite difficult to get fresh air in. The breakfast was not in the actual hotel but approximately 150m down the Ocean Driver in the "Victor Hotel".

Great beachfront location - though we had a room in the 'newer' part facing a street, Beach was just a few yards away. The Ocean Side front to the hotel (like all along the no-car road) had a good open air eating / drinking area. Great for watching the mass of humanity go by!

Access to the newer wing was through another bar and an ice cream parlor (a bit odd). This is a busy bustling place so be prepared for noise from bars/and the entertainment - in the Breakwater and hotel to the side! MAIN biggest complaint - is the rather high and bordering on 'rip off prices' for food and beverages. Everywhere in beachfront a glass of 'average' wine will be circa $15, a small bottle of beer $8+, the food is extortionate really - not just at this hotel but all along the front. TIP - go to a supermarket / liquor store and but your own wine (good bottle $12-15 for glugging down). OR go inland - try Espanola Way which is a better priced area for food...

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The location is optimal for partying and enjoying the nightlife.

The queensize bed was not comfortable for 2 persons. The noise of people partying is hearable throughout the night. If you want to get some sleep you will not get it there.

Breakwater hotel was located in the heart of South Beach. We met some really friendly and helpful staff (including Lizza...and another bubbly young lady, but we didn't catch her name). Great location for enjoying the beach, shopping and nightlife. We also took advantage of the free bike rental (suggestion would be to bring your own bike lock...they were hard to find in South Beach). No better way to get a lay of the land and see a lot in less time than biking. We really got a great view of the city . Also enjoyed the free bottled water, beach chairs and beach towel use. Typical hotel room, well kept and clean. Nice mini bar with refrigerator, coffee/espresso maker, roomy room with desk, TV and nice spacious bathroom. 2 restaurants are attached, and they offer discounts (as mentioned in other posts) at several other restaurants including Redhead Sandwiches (really nice breakfast, and super nice owner & staff), and you'll find great gelato at Mammamia Gelato, and a nice discount.

No balcony and our view was of an alley, so request ocean view if that's important to you. Note that you could sit by the 2nd floor pool and watch the action of the street and beach. The free bikes didn't have locks...made using them less convenient. We bought the last bike lock around for peace of mind. The food at the attached restaurant (Havana 1957) was subpar and expensive.

They properly is located heart of the Miami south beach and reception to all other people except velvet parking guy, all are really friendly and try to address all what we need for their level best. They provide Beaches towels and discount prices for few other restaurants for foods. Meals are bit expensive the restaurant attached to it but it good quality one. They provide beach chairs too. But those are just a basic chair and you can’t pull your legs and sleep and you have to carry those chairs from hotel all the way to beach which is a pain. They would have purchased few of beach chairs and provide token. (Renting Beach chairs would be $20 per item at the beach) Room is really nice and comfortable and 2 min walk to beach. There is a ice cream shop over there and you might want to tryouts.

They are trying charge $50 for valet parking though there are plenty of places around hotel (3-4 blocks away) where you could park 24h for $20. The velvet parking guys was not friendly and he had own demands when i asked details about how it work and so I chosen the option to find parking by myself. Further path to the rooms in other buildings through food shops and you may feels that your are going to crappy place. But once we enter to the floor where room is located, everything will be fine.

The staff super friendly. The location is amazing, right in front of the beach and in the center of all the restaurants & bar. They give you discounts for certain restauran and shops to buy grocery which that was a plus. The room is big and comfy. The cleaning lady are so nice, they clean everyday and leave you clean towels, water and coffee. I enjoy my stay here a lot. The front lady's are really nice, specially Omi, she was amazing. She recommend me good places to eat, shop and have a great time And was always friendly and sweet.

I didn't like that the balcony had no chair and it face the back of the hotel. So the extra money for a balcony is a complete wasted of money. The pool sucks it's small and not that clean in my own opinion

Breakfast was great (free breakfast was included in my package). I liked the fact that it wasn’t a buffet. We were able to order from a menu at a local restaurant down the street (Redhead Sandwich) from the hotel. They were great and we could get omelets, waffles, crepes, fresh fruit, tea, coffee, juice, lox bagels, etc. I liked the free water bottles at the hotel, free chair rentals for the beach, free bike rentals, and friendly staff. I also liked the fact that we were right across from the beach in the middle of the action. The pool was nice but we never got in. Who needs a pool when you have the ocean?!

The bathroom in the rooms weren’t very private and I had difficulty adjusting my room temperature so I was either hot or cold a lot. It was also noisy at times outside (I was on the 3rd floor) so I was woken up several nights, but that’s to be expected when staying in the middle of the action. If you don’t like any noise at night stay somewhere else or at least request 3rd or 4th floor to decrease it.

Fantastic central location art deco hotel with great restaurant downstairs. The staff were very efficient and friendly. Beach chairs , towels and bikes available - included in the resort fee.

Pool was basic but we didn't need it the beach is opposite.

The staff are incredible and made our stay so comfortable. They constantly offered us fresh water, new beach towels and tips on restaurants. We used the free bikes but remember to take your own locks as theft is common and you will be charged 1000 if lost. The bathroom was big and clean. The carpets are a bit musty but not bad. Breakfast was great!!

The music and the ac are much too loud for our tastes. It was hard to relax at the pool. The music starts at lunchtime and continues until late. The windows are great so no noise in the rooms. We were in Miami during the heat wave so the pool felt like a jacuzzi so it was not refreshing. I am sure in the winter it is great. No I'm actually writing my review of the hotel we stayed in Miami.

We stayed twice on our trip. First time our room was towards the back of the hotel overlooking the back of the restaurant and where the staff sorted dishes. It was noisy into the early hours. We returned a week later after travelling elsewhere in the USA and had a "sea view" room. This is a bit misleading as unless you are up really high, the trees between the hotel and the sea are high and dense. We had a slither of a view of the sea which was fine. The room with the "sea view" was much better than the room at the back. The rooms were a good size, lovely bed linen and towels. Bonus for us was having a fridge and access to an ice machine. Amazing place to stay along South Beach (we are a bit old for the nightlife) but loved the vibe in the area.

see above re room at the bac k of hotel. Really strong smell of fragrance/air freshener in the lobby area which put us off sitting there. The pool was really unpleasant. The water was very, very hot, and lots of dead flies on the edges. It didn't look very well maintained. I swam once in our 7 night stay which I was disappointed about but the water was too hot and didn't think it was clean enough to swim.
