Smart Stay Inn - Saint Augustine

Overall pleasant stay. Staff was friendly, courteous, and professional. Daily breakfast was nice. For the price can't really complain.

The receptionist was able to change our original booking of a two double bed room to a king room at no extra charge, and accommodated a request to be on the first floor poolside by the playground. The room was comfortable and clean, and nicely set up with the shower/tub/toilet area separate from vanity/sinks. The playground and pool were perfect for traveling with a child. Breakfast was very good with a variety of hot and cold options. The location near the interstate was perfect for heading to Port Canaveral after our stay.

The soft drink machine took money then was sold out of the products needed, with no way to return the money.

The motel was easy to find and room was clean. They were listed as pet friendly and they really were!! Even had a decent size dog park. When I walked my dog at about 11pm there was quite a bit of dog poop left by INCONSIDERATE guests. For our morning walk next morning looked like dog park had been raked and all the poop was gone. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful. Within waiting distance were plenty of fast food restaurants. Quite a few rooms were occupied with dogs and people. The price was good though Booking.com.

The property was clean but the trim around doors and windowsill needed to be painted as been cleaned so often that some paint is coming off.

Recently remodeled - very nice. Pool area had a large playground and nice hot tub. Very clean. Pleasant staff.

Since they recently remodeled, they really should have sprung for at least Queens beds. The full size ones were just too small for two people accustomed to a king size. Toilet didn't flush the first day, but after telling the front desk, it was fixed by the time we got back to our room. Rooms on the highway side would have been very loud. I'm glad we were in the back. Lots of utility trucks were parked in back. Also, no elevators. If you can't do stairs, tell them early on.

Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff was very nice and mostly accommodating. It was very quiet and we had a nice stay. I don't usually like to stay at these older right off the highway hotels but found this one when others were booked and interior had been renovated and it had good reviews so I took a chance and booked and I'm glad I did.

Trying to get some additional towels was a little bit of a situation (never saw any pool towels and we were only given 2 regular towels in our king room). Person at front desk Saturday morning said there should have been another 1 or 2 in the room advised that there wasn't. He wanted us to check again, why he couldn't just get us more towels I don't know. Checked again only had 2, so I located the asst supervisor of housekeeping (I believe her name was Marie) and she was amazing. She was very nice and quickly proceeded to get us some more towels.

LOCATION: conveniently located right off the interstate and down a side road by a Shell gas station. 12-15 minutes to the historic district and about 20 minutes to the beach. ROOM: room was clean, bed was firm, water pressure was low but hot and the drain was a bit slow to go down but not a huge issue really. It had a mini fridge, microwave and a handful of chargers mainly located on lamps. AC was cold and worked well. No elevators, only stairs. STAFF/ACCOMODATIONS: The check in and check out staff was friendly. There was ample informational brochures and coupons located at the front desk that we utilized. Breakfast was included and consisted of coffee, eggs, sausage, breads, orange juice, milk, two types of cereal, toast, bagels and two waffle makers. The pool and hot tub were a relaxing way to unwind from a day of exploring the city. Although we did not use it, the dog park was a nice touch for those bringing their furry friends; they even had a sprinkler and water bowl for those hot summer days. This seems to be a favorite place for truckers to book a night. The other guests were not loud or obnoxious. Overall, a good place and value to book a night or two to explore St. Augustine.

I really liked everything about this accommodation. It definitely exceeded my expectations. I was traveling with two dogs. (German Shepherds) and it can be quite challenging to travel with pets as it is but let alone two very big dogs. Thankfully my two dogs are both seniors so they are really well behaved but nonetheless most of the time people see two big dogs let alone two German Shepherds and right away have a stigma about them. The staff here were very friendly. The AC was ice cold! The rooms were big. What I liked most about this property is that they had a small fenced-in doggy park which was a huge relief since my dogs are used to going to the bathroom in their own backyard and they are not really familiar with having to go potty on a leash.

Smart Stay was great, staff is fabulous, clean, I am disabled they accommodated myself & my blind pug puppy they allowed to stay...have been telling everyone about it..I am hoping to go again next winter for longer....The best place to stay in Florida by far....

The Highway noise was sometimes loud but apparently it was bike week down there in Daytona so lots of bikes heading down....

It is very close to downtown St. Augustine without having to pay the high prices! They do have a good complimentary breakfast as well. I liked the fact that the pool was open, even in November. my step daughter was able to swim all her energy out and passed out after we came back from the Night of Lights!

I did not like the fact that our room was a double bed room but that was not the property’s fault at all, just me not reading the description right.

The facilities were exceptionally clean! The staff was very friendly and helpful and the hot breakfast was a real treat! The bed was comfortable and the room was a good size. Loved the hot tub!!

There was nothing NOT to like about this place! It was a bit on the expensive side for us but it was a very busy weekend in St. Augustine and accommodations were at a premium. But after staying there, I feel we got plenty of value for the price.
