The Willows Hotel

Location was perfect for the bars on the north side and was near many great food options. Was also surrounded by public transport options that went straight into the centre of downtown. A nice, quieter vibe if you're looking for something low key but also with everything you need around you.

I wish the view wasn't a brick wall and that it was easier to control the temperature in the room as it was either super cold or super hot with no in between. I also wish the fridge had a bit more room for our own purchases as it was so full to the brim with mini bar items it was hard to fit your own in.

The Willows hotel is located in the historical part of Chicago and is close to shops and restaurants. The location is really good and neighbourhood felt safe. The room served our family well as we had two large beds in one room. The hotel is old but it's been kept quite nicely. Staff was absolutely the best and was able to tell about the history of the building and the area itself.

As said, the hotel is old and although it's been kept quite nicely, it's a bit worn out. They do not serve breakfast but there were plenty of options close by.

Charming neighborhood feel with easy access to downtown or lake shore by bus provided what we needed. We parked nearby for less ($25) than it would cost closer to downtown ($45-$79) and had a good night’s sleep. Ours was the more budget queen bed room which we read reviews before as small, dark with brick wall view out the window and ac unit as downsides, but for us the clean, comfy bed, minibar and coffee in the lobby along with super nice and helpful staff made this the perfect stay for us.

For a longer stay, I would choose a different room with a brighter window

The character of the hotel was fantastic. The staff are very personable and helpful. Just being my teen daughter and me, there was no safety concern. Very spacious room with snacks / drinks in room for purchase (cheaper than gas station!). Lots of shops / restaurants close, super easy for Uber pick-up, and a neighborhood-feeling to the location, yet big city feel with the awesome character of The Willows.

Room views are limiting since top floor is 4th, apartments next door are same if not higher, and you're in the city (lots of buildings). However, the eclectic and historic frame of the hotel is worth it.

The Willows Hotel is a relaxing hotel with great ambiance. The location was great, within walking distance of stores like Walmart, Target, T.J Max and more. Safe neighborhood that’s alive and friendly, my partner and I arrived around 11p.m and we saw many people outside walking their dogs. Staff was friendly and helpful. No problems checking in or checking out. The room was spacious and even though the view wasn’t particularly amazing, it felt homey and allowed enough light to come in. The room was also very clean and included a snack area(not free but decently priced). The walls are on the thinner side but you really only hear anything in the hallway, not while in your actual room. Overall, really recommend this hotel! Good cheap stay for any reason!

Juan, the manager, was so kind, friendly and helpful! Everything was clean and the building, itself, was beautiful. We were in walking distance to SO many places to eat, have a drink, etc. Even walkable, though we didn't, to the DePaul Lincoln Park campus. Every person we met was so nice and helpful. We had a great time down the street, where we stopped for a drink, with the staff and locals. When we can afford Chicago prices, this will likely be our "home" when visiting our son at DePaul!

Our room was SUPER tiny, less than a foot on the right side of the bed and maybe 5 feet on the side by the entry door. The only mirror is in the bathroom so it is difficult to use following one's shower. The parking situation is outrageously expensive. And you need to be an absolute Ace at parallel parking to park on the street.

No breakfast due to Covid. Location was handy to restaurants and bus stops. Room size was nice. Room was cleaned well, housekeeping did a good job. In room snacks, although we did not utilize, were very affordable.

When we first arrived we were not greeted, when front desk person did arrive he was not friendly or welcoming at all. The next day there was a different employee, he was definitely more helpful. First impressions are important. It isn't always possible, but efforts should be made to place families with small children on lower floors. Our last two nights were filled with the rambunctious stomping on the floor above us. Bathroom improvements would be nice, the shower curtain rod was installed in a way that the curtain would not stay closed / in place making it impossible not to get the floor wet. More hooks for towels would be helpful.

I have traveled the globe while working in the travel industry luxury sector. While traveling for leisure I appreciate accommodations that are welcoming with friendly and professional staff, cleanliness of the room. service offered (both those required by the hotel and when they go out of their way to make certain my needs are met). The staff at the Willows Hotel accomplished for someone with very high expectations. The location of the hotel, on a less traveled tree lined street in a very hectic city was a welcome respite from a day exploring Chicago. I highly recommend The Willows Hotel and welcome any questions you may have before you make your reservation.

More breakfast items that could be pre packaged due to COVID restrictions, The locations does not allow ease of parking on the streets and uses a nearby parking structure. IMO they could validate parking tickets for said parking.

Nice boutique hotel. Clean and rooms are a good size with a refrigerator. The price was the best value in the area. Grocery store is steps away, as well as public transportation. Great little neighborhood. Parking garage is across the street above the grocery store-not connected to hotel but close by.

TV had a mind of its own, hard to change channels. The front desk is not really staffed. You’ll need to ring bell or call the hotel to get someone up front to assist.

The hotel is in a very cute area with tons of walkable shops, bodegas, stores and restaurants easy to find and easy to access. We also really loved the staff Tony was excellent and made our trip a great one!

There wasn’t anything major that we disliked just that it didn’t have a hair dryer but that was absolutely minimal and didn’t detract from our stay at all.
