Maison Saint Charles by Hotel RL

I love the fact that it was centrally located, the parking was a little bit confusing but overall I love the security! The older security officer was really nice and the facility was just beautiful for an older vintage place, I’ll definitely stay here again if the price is right!

OK so the door was broken pretty bad, you can see daylight through the panels on the door, it almost look like the door was kicked in and broken then someone tried to fix it and failed! It Wasn’t secure and I didn’t feel safe but as long as the security guard us patrolling I was OK! I stayed in room 204

We were there for Mardi Gras and to our surprise the hotel is directly on the parade line! All we had to do was walk out the front door. There's a restaurant connected to the hotel with authentic Louisiana cuisine. Also for the picky ones, there is a Raising Canes, Wendy's and Popeye's a stone throw away. Bourbon street is about 1.5 miles away. We walked during the parade crowds and it still only took about 20-25 minutes.

We went during Mardi Gras and the hotel is on the parade line, you're going to have a hell of a time parking unless you want to pay to use their parking lot. It was $50 a day 2/20/22. (Mardi Gras Season) We were able to find a side street and didn't move our car again until check out. Also because the hotel is on the parade line, none of the trolleys were running. This wasn't a problem we walked everywhere.

Loved that it was like a resort. Felt safe and was handy to the tram, right across the road. Car parking was good, cost $25 a night but the hotel itself was very reasonable so we didnt mind paying. If you couldnt park at the motel they had a carpark across the road that they locked at night. Great restaurant right next door and lots of fast food within metres. Pool was fantastic, bed was brilliant. The area wasnt the greatest but you are fenced in and have security its like being in a nice resort. Would def. Stay there again if we ever go back to Nola.

PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE and IGNORE the reviews talking about the “bad neighborhood”. I saw a couple of these and it made me wonder a bit. I was already somewhat familiar with the area from a past trip so I didn’t let these comments sway me. This is in fact a GREAT location and almost right across the street from a street car stop. If you are wanting to enjoy the Garden District, the Warehouse District or the French Quarter, this place is in the middle of it all and is an easy walk or streetcar ride or a combo of the two. Seriously, New Orleans can look like a bad neighborhood when you turn a corner & on the next street or corner sits a million dollar home. This hotel is VERY clean, has charming and well maintained grounds and courtyards, comfortable beds, large & newer model TVs, good WIFI (loaded our firestick/netflix no problem), excellent (& free) lobby coffee (we are coffee snobs btw) & a great pool and hot tub. EVERY SINGLE employee we encountered had a smile and a genuine friendly greeting and were so helpful with any small request we had during our week stay. I saw some reviews about unfriendly employees/workers and I cannot fathom this. Either it was a one off OR or one of those situations where you may get what you give if you act like a total jerk.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say there were things we “didn’t like” but there is some deferred maintenance and the property needs some more general updating. None of this affected our stay and I imagine these items are what is keeping this fabulous place in the 3 star category & within our price range.

This was by far one of the best traveling experiences we’ve had. We had to check in super late due to flight delays. Mr. Jesse was no less accommodating had we arrived during prime time hours. He was a gracious always smiling host, offering suggestions, directions and deals around the city. He treated us likes family. When we checked out Kiwanda was equally pleasant, smiling and courteous. She let us store our items in a closet until we left for airport. We will choose to stay at this property for all our future visits. P.S the Trolly that runs right in front of the hotel 24/7 into French Quarter is the icing on the cake.

Room 209 I loved the location. The beds were great. The Ac worked perfectly. The room was clean and set up nice when we arrived The best part is that the street car picks you up right out in front of the hotel and takes you anywhere you need to go. (Little advice download the app and buy the 2 or 3 day passes from the app) We parked our car Friday and didn't see it again until we checked out. The staff was amazing!!! The ladies in the breakfast bar made sure we had everything we needed and even recommended some places to visit! Felt very safe the whole time we were there. Their security was very attentive. The pool and hot tub were great to relax in while getting out of the heat! Heat is crazy down there. We will be returning

The only thing i could even say negative is Breakfast could be a little better . A few more options. Pancakes would be great. Or a bowel of cut-up fruit.

We stay here because we LOVE the staff. They are always friendly, helpful and will stop and have a conversation no matter what. When we had a maintenance request it was taken care of by the time we returned to the room. They give helpful advise and always have a smile on their faces. They are part of our New Orleans trip experience.

The Half glass shower door, ugh. It allows water to go all over. Either close it all the way in or add a curtain so we are not always cleaning up water. Window curtains need to be cleaned but other than that all good.

amazing location, I doubt a better hotel in such a great location and at this price point exists in New Orleans. steps from a streetcar stop, within a short walk to both fast food and fine dining, not super noisy, and the grounds are both secure and gorgeous. Around every bend among the several buildings are landscaped courtyards filled with flora and fauna and kept spotless clean. The entire property is enclosed by fence and there is security around the clock on the grounds. parking is on-site and is half the cost of most hotels in the city. Also they’re very dog friendly, with a one-time fee per stay, for up to two dogs, no weight restrictions, as of 1-1-2023. TONS of space on the grounds for doggie pit stops, and trash cans too. there are no in-room coffeemakers, but the lobby coffee was OUTSTANDING 24/7. (Seriously, we went back to the hotel once just for more coffee, instead of finding a Starbucks, lol.) Rooms do have a mini fridge and microwave. All in all: Best deal in New Orleans in my opinion!

bathrooms are meh, they look pretty but could easily be made much more functional and friendly. the showers and toilets should work well… in every room every day. our first room had a toilet leaking onto the floor as soon as I arrived. Staff was very apologetic and a maintenance guy was there in under 5 minutes at like 6 pm. It was gonna take a while to fix so they asked to move me to a new room and they insisted on carrying absolutely every item to the new room, so no big deal. The fancy rain shower heads were neat but the water pressure isn’t strong enough for them, so it was not great.

We were greeted by Gabbie, who was most welcoming to hotel. She is something special to the hotel, as I never experienced such a professional in greeting new guests with her positive energy. Let alone, take a cell phone video of all of us and post it on Tic tock to say hi to our daughter! The hotel has the best employee here!!! She was greeting our daughter of our safe arrival, who is a music artist in Nashville. She also recomended Mr. Ed's Seafood & Oyster House, was very good and next store to the hotel. Very close and convenient. Also she approved our brisk 15 minute walk to Cafe Du Monde French Market. We enjoyed the fresh coffee and famous beignets before driving to Houston. We will be back!!!

Older facility and has been maintained and has great charm

The location is great! And the help from the older gentleman working at night: he came to put something in the upper part of the door in order to block the light coming from a light directly outside from it (the only door I believe not covered in the property ...). It was 2AM and he was the only one to help. There were also people next door making some strange noise like a metallic or mechanical repetitive sound, that's why I got up and went to seek help for both problems. Another thing with that room: in the closet where I started to hang my black pants, ALL of the clothes hangers were dirty with white paint... I thought it was dry obviously but in fact it was a type of paint dust that got to into my clothing! The woman at the front desk earlier didn't even try to help me like changing room when I mentioned the light... She looked annoyed by my request. A younger guy: Chase helped me by putting new lights on (3 out of 4 were out...). The next morning I came to the front desk and got to change room. New staff and I was heard!
