Rhonda is absolutely wonderful. I rated it a 9/10 because its a motel, so a bit of a different feel. That being said the rooms were clean and the price point is incredible. I can't recommend Rhonda and her staff more. They are why we kept coming back! :) Rhonda gave us complimentary s'mores kits for the kids to have around the firepit one night. One family mentioned not much to do around the area during the night and this definitely satisfied that need! Highly recommend coming here understanding its "no frills" and just "right"! :)

This is an older motel that was refurbished while retaining its original charm. Our room (#9) was basic but spotless with a very comfortable bed. The continental breakfast had lots of variety and good coffee. For those seeking other options, there are several restaurants within a short drive. I'd also like to mention that due to an unexpected family situation at home, we were almost forced to cancel our stay. We were able to sort things out and keep our reservation but I'd be remiss if I didn't thank Rhonda (innkeeper) for her prompt responses and assistance with late check-in instructions. We'd recommend the Briarcliffe and will be back!

Briarcliff is on a main road but set so far back that it feels private. The property is pretty and the view is beautiful. As it says in some reviews, it is a renovated motel and your expectation should be that, but then think a motel that is as cute as could be and one that we found it to be extra clean! The beds are fulls, with very comfortable mattresses, but that may influence you to pick two rooms. We are a family of 6 and we’re very comfortable with 2 adjoining rooms. Breakfast had all the baked goods and drinks you would need. Coffee was delicious and there was even some hot cider going. The lobby area, which is available with a reservation, is well designed, and the fireplace really creates a nice ambiance. Rhonda, the innkeeper, was busy when we got there with a snowstorm that had arrived the day before, but she was still very helpful in accommodating our early arrival and allowing my husband to work in the lobby until our room was ready while the rest of the family took a 10 minute drive over to ski Butternut for the day. We love that the Briarcliff was dog friendly. Our kids enjoyed swimming at the Red Lion Inn, walking in Stockbridge to our favorite chocolate shop, visiting Great Barrington in the other direction for our favorite ice cream and getting take out food from Barrington Brewery and Four Brothers right down the road. If you visit in the winter, we also enjoyed epic sled riding at Monument HS 2 minutes down the road!

Maybe slated for the future, but it would be nice to have blinds (rather than black out blind and curtains) that are adjustable to turn so that light can still come in from front and view can still be enjoyed without just having window coverings wide open. Not a complaint, just an observation! We did like the blackout curtain for kids sleeping!

Good breakfast--a huge variety of milks. Charming and whimsical decor throughout based on mid-century modern (ie. marimekko comforters and vintage-style refrigerator and microwave.). Dog-Friendly: doormats with dog themes. Very attractive and clever transformation of this motel which we remember from 60 years ago. Enjoyed talking with manager.

Some noise from AC.

Breakfast was good. They offered a good selection of foods. Probably the first hotel that offers good quality tea as a beverage option. The hotel has a fire pit. S'Mores kits are available upon request. Quiet and comfortable, yet accessible to Great Barrington and Lenox.

I can't think of anything.

This place wins all the prizes! This is a small, super casual motel in an incredibly beautiful setting, under ten minutes drive from either Great Barrington or Stockbridge. The manager Rhonda is a delight, going out of her way to make sure we had delicious breakfasts, plus filling us in on the special discount we could receive in the restaurants at the sister property, the Red Lion Inn. She is the one who has made sure this is a truly dog-friendly motel - there are NO PET FEES! The coded door locks were really convenient, much better than having to scramble looking for a key. We had a fine time at the fire pit making our s'mores (all ingredients supplied by Rhonda) and telling stories. Every person we met staying there was friendly and easy to talk to, a rare pleasure during this atrocious pandemic. We are already discussing when we can go back!

A couple more pillows on the bed would be nice. Our stay was too short!

Breakfast was very cozy and delicious. the dining room is a great area

It would have been nice to have the game room open in the evening. there isn't much to do in the area at night and that could have made our evening more memorable.

It is a “on road” lodge. Perfect location. Beds are super comfortable. Linens seemed clean. All check in and out process was done via text. A 12USD voucher is available for breakfast in a hotel 5min away and it is a super decent budget for a good breakfast (enough for tea, fruits, eggs and toast). Windows are good enough so road noise isn’t a problem while sleeping.

The shower wasn’t so good but at least water was hot. Bath a little outdated with some cracks in the floor and “yellow-wish” walk in shower but all seemed clean. Carpet also had some dirty appearance (perhaps old). Acoustic between rooms isn’t good so it’s possible to listen people talking in the other room yet our “neighbours” weren’t noisy and we had a good night of sleep. Yet, all in all it is a highly recommended place for a good night of sleep.

Cute, clean, comfortable and great location with wonderful views. Continental breakfast was just enough and good variety. The Innkeeper Rhonda is awesome! So helpful on where to go in the area and generally nice to talk to.

Only one complaint. Our TV wouldn’t change channels. Think the remote needed new batteries. But we enjoyed watching Food Network, only channel we could get.

My husband and I spent a couple of days at the Briarcliff Motel and had a wonderful time. The location is excellent; it’s in a picturesque natural setting but still close to all amenities of Great Barrington and Stockbridge. The room was simple but pleasant and well organized with comfortable bedding. It was a pleasure to rest in the Adirondack chairs on top of a prairie behind the motel after a hike to beautiful Rice Brook Falls. At dusk we enjoyed another good spot reading and talking to our neighbors next to the fire pit located in front of the property. I should mention too that the motel is dog friendly. Though we do not have dogs ourselves, we met some charming specimens at the motel. Last but not least, Rhonda, the manager of the Briarcliff Motel, made all aspects of our stay perfect thanks to her wonderful sense of hospitality! We greatly recommend the Briarcliff!
