The Red Lion Inn

The historic value the Inn has to Stockbridge itself was evident and impressive. I enjoyed learning about the Inn while there and seeing the framed art pieces, antique mirrors, and furniture. I am fond of Norman Rockwell’s drawings and was delighted to see so much of his work. The antiques were a variety of whimsy and treasured pieces, making exploring the Inn as you stroll to your room quite enjoyable. If you go, before you pack, know that they are serious about keeping the heated outdoor pool open even in the cold weather and that they provide bathrobes.

Not sure what type of elegance I was expecting, but I would say there was more character than luxury. I consider the Inn more whimsy than luxury. I was slightly hesitant to experiment with the buttons on the wall, but they were light switches. I was unfamiliar with the technology, but quick to adapt.

Offered twin beds in large room. The decor was fun and interesting, including lots of antiques all over the hotel. The staff was super helpful. The bar in the basement was great and the wide porches with chairs were a nice touch. The staff was courteous and personable.

Took 7 minutes for the shower to warm up in the morning. The parking situation was a little confusing, but there were plenty of spots. Relatively expensive, but that is to be expected in summertime Berkshires.

We had an excellent breakfast and dinner in your lovely dining room. We also loved the live music in the Lion’s Den, and enjoyed the hot tub after dinner! Our room, #325, was comfortable and very quiet. The 2 shops on the property have many unique and beautiful gifts. The history throughout the Inn gives the feel of staying in a museum! Having Jack and Jane greet us was also sweet.

The carpets are well worn, and the lighting in common areas is dim, but otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay!

i love the Red Lion which is why I have returned year after year since 1984. the facility, staff, location, ambiance, and attention to detail are first rate.

Like many places today they were challenged by staff shortages which made for slower service than usual. the biggest issue was unsupervised young children running through the hotel to all hours. that is a profound change from years past.

The food in the restaurant was delicious. Nice old artifacts everywhere. Lots of parking.

Our room was on a severe slant, which made you lose your balance if you got up at night to use the bathroom. Unfortunately the inn is located at a busy intersection, very noisy. Signs asking trucks to not use engine brakes would be helpful.

We have stayed at the Red Lion Inn many times, especially for our Anniversary, this one being our 24th. Most everything was great as we've come to expect.

Only one thing. I was in the room and my wife was in the bathroom when I heard a screech. When I rushed in to see what happened, worried sick she'd hurt herself, there on the floor, running for cover was a cockroach. This is the first time this has happened. As we were getting ready for checkout, I didn't mention it to the front desk. I'm sure they are very diligent in their pest control. And this is a very old inn that this could happen. Although the many times we've stayed here, this was the first time. I caught it and flushed it and that was the end of it. I don't think that will prevent us from coming back for a stay. Not that big of an issue. All else was good.

Our room was lovely, large, and immaculate. There is something about the Red Lion that makes you feel at home, comfortable, and ready to relax. The staff is very helpful and friendly! We have stayed at the Red Lion many times and are planning to visit again during the Christmas holiday...the Inn is especially warm and magical at that time of year.

The food at the Red Lion restaurant was disappointing...especially for the prices. At the tavern I ordered a veggie burger that was dry and tasteless and the drinking glasses all appeared to be poorly cleaned. At the main dining room (lovely setting), I ordered haddock which was overcooked and bland. This is the only aspect of the Red Lion that is not up to par.

Loved the history and old world feel. We really enjoyed our dinner at the tavern. Kudos to our bartender, he was friendly, efficient, and informative. Our room was a great mix of old world with modern day amenities.

Breakfast in the dining room was very slow. We had a difficult time locating our waitress after we had been served.

This property is very well located. Everything is close by and it is well stocked with all your dishes and kitchen essentials.

Unfortunately the families that were staying at this particular location took over the entire common area and we could not enjoy the fire place nor having a happy hour with the others couple we were traveling with. They also left every single glass, cup and dish dirty that we couldn’t use a thing. The children were running rampant throughout the house and the quiet time from 10 pm on wasn’t respected.

Great building with lots of amenities and charming rustic features. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. When open, the restaurant serves great food. Also a good location for exploring the Berkshire area.

Just a personal note, the AC unit was a bit noisy during the night, but that won't be an issue for everyone.
