Such a historic property! It is just beautiful. I used to visit with my family in the 1960’s! I love the age, and the caring upgrades. It is really fairly small and therefore intimate. The rooms have all the modern touches but it all looks old. Who knew that old oak cabinet builders made space for microwaves and mini fridges?!?

The front desk staff seems amateurish. As if they are still in training. When I checked in, I was kept waiting for the guest before me to complete check in even though a staff person was available for me. When I checked out, I got a bit of attitude simply because I asked for copies of my paperwork. What happened to the idea that the paying customer gets to feel special?? The bar area is gorgeous but there are no barstools. Solo travelers love bar areas so they can meet fellow travelers. I’d love to have had barstools. The coffee wasn’t that great.

Such a charming and beautiful lodge tucked away in the mountains. George checked us in quickly, gave us the keys to the lodge tower and told us we might be able to catch the last light of sunset from the tower if we hurried. We did and we were not disappointed. We caught the last of a gorgeous sunset and the cool history and workmanship of an old lookout tower. The hotel is a blast through the past with amazing carpentry, chandeliers, fireplaces and vintage furnishings. It was well appointed with enough modern touches where it didn't feel like somebody's estate sale or an antique mart. We were impressed.

The altitude affected us and huffing up the stairs with our suitcases required a rest! If there's an elevator, we didn't know where it was and it wasn't mentioned at check in.

The atmosphere of this location is amazing. It is a very old, but well maintained space. The history and unique ambiance was well worth the price. Our children loved exploring the tower and the hotel feels a bit like you have gone back in time. Definitely NOT like all the other cookie-cutter hotels out there. This place was a destination unto itself. So cool!!

The restaurant on site books up quickly, but we were able to find a local brewery with pizza and no wait for a table, so that wasn't a big problem. We were also warned in advance to make restaurant reservations if we wanted to eat there. However, the on site restaurant didn't have breakfast hours during the week, only on Saturday & Sunday, which was disappointing.

The locations in the high altitude mountains of New Mexico took me back to a time of turn of the century elegance-simple, and beautiful. The lodge is 9000 ft above sea level. After coming from the warmth of White Sands National Park the cool crisper weather was welcomed. Breakfast lunch and dinner menus were unique . I recommend the pistachio crusted steak with warm green chilis and gravy was pleasing, Our room had 3 windows which looked onto fir trees. It was relaxing to sit by the fireplace, play board games, and dream. I know we will be back.

The location of the town of Cloudcroft itself is a little rough and rural. I liked sticking to trails and natural sites. I don't remember seeing any cinemas or galleries. There was a town museum and a city pavilion.

Beautiful historic building. Very friendly staff. Cloudcroft had a small town feel which I liked. Prices in town were very reasonable. Even saw some deer right on the property. I'm not a big coffee drinker, but it was nice to have coffee and rolls and fruit in the lobby. Also liked the comfortable chairs in the lobby. Nice to have real glasses and bottle water in the room

The last few miles to the Lodge road wasn't very good,

Beautiful property. Our room was a very nice size. Well furnished. Bed was very comfortable. I loved that there was a ceiling fan. Very quiet. The staff was warm and friendly. Did not eat at the restaurant, but was told by others the food was wonderful. We forgot our swimsuits😩Loved that the pool was lit up. Looked very inviting. Gorgeous fireplace in the lobby. There was always a guest in the lobby reading, relaxing. Very comfortable chairs, couch.

This is a very interesting old hotel that has been renovated. It has the feel of El Tovar inside and the rooms are modern and very comfortable. The pool and hot tub were great, and we were allowed to go up into the cupola to view sunset and moonrise. A wonderful place!

There was a bright light on our TV stand that I had to cover with a towel to be able to sleep. The restaurant food is just OK.

The location is excellent as it is away from the main busy tourist spot making it for great relaxation, but yet close enough to even walk to it. The building(s) faculty itself is beautiful. The staff was really friendly and attentive to our needs. Great atmosphere for relaxation.

Since the building is so old, it tends to be noisy at times. People could be heard talking/laughing through the door late into the nite. Maybe it was just our room location, as it was just upstairs frm the main entry lobby/gathering place for people going to restaurant/bar.

Staff was over the top helpful and friendly. Very quiet location. Very clean facilities. Beds were very comfortable.

We ate at the restaurant on site at the lodge. It was no where near my level of expectation. Now, the servers and bartender were top notch. The food however was almost not edible. I hate to leave a negative review on an otherwise great stay, but if I happen to stay there again, I'll be eating in town.
