Crowne Plaza Albany - The Desmond Hotel

very comfortable bed. nice coffee maker. nice shower. nice toiletries.

my knock came from the fact we arrived around midnight. exhausted.. nobody was there at the door to greet or assist us with unloading luggage OR helping my travel companion (who is 85 and quite disabled) make her way into the hotel. That was pretty shocking, for a hotel with such an excellent reputation. Once the gentleman at the front desk saw the situation, he immediately got her a wheel chair, and PERSONALLY wheeled her all the way back to her room--at the southernmost end of the hotel. he was very helpful.

As someone who is under 21 but needed a place to stay, this was perfect. Glad they take 18 and up! It’s a beautiful hotel and our room was perfect, we had the king bed we booked and were easily able to check in. Was great for our overnight visit.

Only issue was the shower didn’t drain well… everything else was perfect. Just a minor issue, only staying one night it didn’t bother us to take quick showers.

The lobby area was absolutely gorgeous , & the rooms were SO CLEAN. You can from the second you got in that it was a clean hotel. (another bonus but not necessity was the size of the shampoos & stuff in the shower , most places give you enough to last 2 people a night lol). Staff was also all super friendly (:

Court yard room overlooking the area was cute and fun little balcony with French glass doors. All awesome until the noise. If you want to sleep in forget it. Kids trying to make echo sounds, banquet tables being set up, brunches etc. not one good morning of sleep. But if you are a very early riser you may love this view and quaint courtyard. Would stay again but if leisure travel with wanting to sleep in a little since we were out at night and on vacation rather than business travel we might request a non court yard room.

Very clean, staff was kind and helpful, very cool place! I loved the fireplace feeling and smell in the entrance!

Toiletries were not available in the bathroom besides hand soap, hand lotion, body soap, shampoo, and conditioner. I had to call and ask for a toothbrush. The bed sheets were rough making it uncomfortable to sleep in.

The place doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is charming and clean on the inside. Rooms are spacious, towels are fluffy and large, bed is so comfortable! No mildew or smells in bathroom. Staff was amazing! Deena, a server in Mr. Ds was funny and made the morning brighter.

We had to stay here for 3 nights because American Airlines couldn't get their stuff together after canceling or flight. No one vusited the room to resupply coffee or towels. It's noisy when someone is putting tables away in the courtyard after an event. Maybe wait until 9am to do that?

The room was a great price- nice bathroom. Water was hot and great water pressure. Also, the bathroom toiletries provided were the best I have ever used. There was an adorable balcony off the bedroom with French doors leading out to the space which overlooked a courtyard. It was all super charming.

Fresh and clean and very nice barr and restaurant. Great ambients when you come into the Lobby on a cold day and there's a roaring fire in the beautiful fireplace. After we got our room , we came back to sit in front of the fire. Very nice feature in the Lounge as well .

Starting to creep up in pricing. Be careful !!

Breakfast should have been included. Atleast coffee, tea, or juice and a small bite:granola bar, box of raisins, piece of fruit a minimum offering. (1) Bottled water should also be offered daily.

The hotel is uniquely designed, and it has been restored beautifully since I went there as a teenager with my family when it was the Americana Inn/Desmond Hotel. The restaurant was excellent and was a lifesaver during a busy weekend of graduation events. It was a relaxing and pleasant stay. The staff was terrific. I would definitely find a reason to stay there again!
