comfortable common spaces such as tables downstairs, kitchen, and the bar (especially when people in your room are already/still sleeping), roof terrace with a view (though it was not so usable in winter), 5 min walking distance from SUBWAY. The room was small, nevertheless had a small toilet and bathroom.

The neighbourhood at first sight was terrifying... especially when you arrive when it is already night. I didn't feel safe at the beggining, but on my 3rd day I felt comfortable on the streets. AC in the room was quite loud and constantly switching on/off, so the noise was inconsistent. The shower had only 1 knob - you had to start from cold water and move it to warm, no choice to stop water without going through cold (but I saw it also in another property so maybe it is US-specfic ;). curtain in our room was not able to protect the floor from getting wet. No tea/coffe cups in the common kitchen, luckily I had my own. No lift, only long stairs.

Nice roommates, comfortable common spaces such as tables downstairs, kitchen, and the bar (especially when people in your room are already/still sleeping), a laundry facility, nice atmosphere and friendly staff, roof terrace with a view (though it was not so usable in winter), 5 min walking distance from the metro station and pleasant neighborhood with supermarkets and restaurants.

The AC in the room was quite loud and constantly switching on/off, so the noise was inconsistent. Plus sometimes loudly snoring roommates, so earplugs are very much advised! Kitchen supplies such as pans were mostly old and scratched. No tea/coffee cups in the kitchen - had to ask them at the bar every time. The room space was quite small - it gets cramped in all 4 people are awake and doing something. The shower curtain in our room was not able to protect the floor from getting wet.

Loved the view from the roof, the bed is comfortable. I liked that it is not so far from Times Square and the price is affordable and you can make friends at the hostel

One thing I didn't like very much was that the place for you to keep your personal items in the room, even with the padlock they give you, it's a break and if someone malicious wants to get their hands on it, they can take something from your things

Good location in LIC, Court Sq is close by (Subways E,G,7) - also I can recommend the Court Sq Diner and the Red Coffee for breakfast or dinner. Friendly staff, nice bar downstairs, clean room

The location and facilities in the hostel are superb

No elevator, but it's only 1 story, so it's fine. None really

The position of the Hotel is Top! View to Manhattan skyline and few min walk to the metro that brings you to Manhattan in few stops e.g. Rockfeller Center, Bryant Park, Time Square are 3-4 stops. I went everywhere and it was perfect. Staff is welcoming and there is a bar and common area where you can spend some time. I was also luckier with roommates, I stayed 8nights and no problem with anyone.

The shower! Very old and small and you can direct the water, is just from top. So if you, for example, don’t want to wash hair is really difficult also because the space is little. There should be also some shelf where anyone can place their bath stuff.

To be fair I really liked the location. You are outside of the hustle and bustle of Manhatten but superclose to it too. It's just a short subway ride away. I personally enjoyed staying in Queens. The beds to me were really comfortable! I slept very well! I'm not used to sleeping that well in a hostel. I was staying in a 4 bed female dorm and the ladies in there were nice and respectful. Even when coming back late they would be considerate. The bathroom and toilet were in the room which I appreciated too. It's just easier to shower and change etc... The rooftop has a nice view! Too bad not many people chilled there. Stephanie (hope I wrote it correctly) was such a sweetheart! The first room I was in, I was put in a top bed but the bed was so squeaky and just not comfortable! She had me switch rooms and asigned me a bottom bed to make sure I'd be comfortable as I was staying a few nights and I really was comfy! The first night I was even alone in the room. I really appreciated that gesture! There is a little kitchen too if you'd like to make your own food. There are some Delis and restaurant in the area too. The noise coming from outside was okay still btw.

I didn't like the first lady that checked me in. She was so unbothered and barely interacted with me. Not cool! The fact that it's a hostel but people barely engage in conversations, random banter and activities was kind of odd to me. People were mainly on their laptops and phones etc... There is a bar downstairs but I barely saw people there and if there were they were not really interacting. A bit overpriced too but I guess that is how hostels in the US are. Privacy curtains would be much appreciated. The temperature in the room was quite impossible as without the airco it was too hot (opening the window didn't help) and with airco it was too chilly. The airco made a lot of noise too.

Really good value for money. The location is really good - it's a quiet, safe part of town, and the hostel itself is just a few minutes walk from Court Sq station which has the E, M, G and 7 trains, which means you're never more than 25 minutes away from Manhattan, Brooklyn, Jamaica (which gets you to JFK) or LaGuardia. The staff were really friendly and the 24/7 bar/coffee shop was great. We were a couple with a packed itinerary and private room so we didn't spend too much time there, but it seemed like there was a good mix of travellers with social vibes and events being advertised. Obviously it's not the Soho Ritz, it's a hostel in LIC, so it won't be for everyone, but I'd definitely stay there again next time I visited.

The private rooms were a little cramped, with power outlets down the side of the bed not really accessible and not a lot of room to unpack, but realistically it's a hostel and a good value one at that so it's to be expected!

Located in a really nice area in Long Island City. Lots of great coffee shops and other places to eat and drink within a 10 minute walk. The subway station is 5 minutes walk and can take you to Manhattan in 10 minutes. On the ground floor, there is a lovely bar and relaxation area, with room to do work or socialise with friends. On the rooftop, there is an incredible view of Manhattan, especially at sunset!

Bathroom had a slightly awkward layout which meant there wasn't really anywhere to change in full privacy. There is no lift so people that struggle with stairs likely will have a problem staying here.

The Local NY is located in a quiet neighbourhood. In 2 minutes walking distance there are a few new restaurants and a brewery - which we liked very much. The next subway station is very close and services several lines to manhattan. The room was not too big but clean and as we expected. Travelling NYC, we would stay in the Hostel again.

It was getting cold in the room during night, but there is a heating fan installed. Walls and doors are thin and you could hear noise very easily. However, we were satisfied staying at the Local NY.
