DoubleTree by Hilton Utica

Even with a small emergency on Christmas Eve, we love this historic property and stay there when in Utica visiting family! About 12:30 AM Christmas Eve the hotel alarm went off telling us to evacuate via the stairs (we were on the 9th floor) and make our way to the main floor of the hotel. As we approached the lobby level water was coming under the door and down the stairs to the basement. Apparently the water main to the fire suppression system had burst in the ceiling above the lobby entrance and water was quickly filling the lobby floors. The Utica FD was there, got the water main turned off, and pushed the water on the lobby floor outside. The staff at the hotel did an amazing job handling this emergency and keeping us all safe! The hotel was back up and fully functional again within 6 hours, that’s amazing!

Loved the look and feel of the historic building coupled with the modern upgrades in room. Gentleman who did check in was friendly and professional. Lady at checkout was helpful and made more coffee when notified the station was out. had a nightcap at the bar and admired the pictures and decor along with the history of the site.

Only thing would have been if restaurant had been open a little later for food.

Very clean room and very spacious. Bathroom very spacious as well and the water pressure is great. Restaurant on site.

No light above the microwave and coffee maker, hard to see when it's dark out. Restaurant isn't open till 4.30 ,so had to purchase breakfast & lunch off site. Anyone can enter the parking lot and dit at their patio seating even if they aren't a guest.

We did not have breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel but they had coffee in the lobby which was nice. The only problem was they did not have decaffeinated coffee for us. The room was very nicely decorated and clean. There was ample parking as well. It had a beautiful bar with outdoor seating. They had live music on certain nights.

Although the lobby is beautiful there was a musty smell. I know the building is old but it was pretty strong. The restaurant was only open until 9 PM. Not sure if that is related to COVID as other restaurants in the area also closed early. We had to search for restaurants that were open later and there were very few. The hotel room had a gym and an exercise bike in it which took up a lot of room especially since we had to use the sectional as a fold out bed.

The staff was very friendly. My special requests were met and exceeded expectation! The room was very clean and air conditioning was already on when we entered our room. We had a very enjoyable stay.

There wasn't anything we didn't like. I have nothing to say here.

The hotel was beautiful on the inside. The beds were super comfortable and the room was spacious with lots of windows.

We paid additional for the availability of breakfast at the restaurant on site. The site did not mention, neither did the staff that breakfast was not available due to low staffing. The hotel offered a grab and go only as you left. I felt, it was a bit misleading. We were looking forward to this convenience. We had a busy weekend planned, dropping our son off at school.

Clean,comfortable, quiet and on site parking. Close to the highway

The only thing I didnt like was being billed twice. I paid on booking.com because it was a last minute stop and it was later at night. When I arrived thr front desk asked for my card I thought to look up what I told him. The next morning I had paid twice and when I asked the front desk to figure out why I was given a card for a manager who wouldnt be in office for 2 days..

The staff and Hotel were absolutely wonderful. It was very clean, well maintained, beautiful and the restaurant they have is excellent.

I was very unhappy because I paid the the same price for two rooms on the same floor and one was 1/4 of the size of the other. I tried to get a different room and was willing to pay more, but was unable to because I booked through Booking.com. I definitely won’t use that site anymore.

I love how timeless but yet modern(remodeled) attributes this hotel has. I read all the reviews before booking this hotel for a short weekend. Some of the reviews were discouraging, but the grand lobby kept calling my attraction. I am so very glad I didn’t go according to the reviews. The expectations of this hotel was grander than expected. The service was impeccable. The attentiveness of both morning and evening shift was flawless, along with steps to all the Covid precautions made me feel safe. I will be visiting again soon. The slight smell of smoke shows that the hotel has some deep history. I rate it only 9 because I wish I had more time at the hotel to experience the restaurant but I will next time.

The very faint smell of cigarettes/smoke but it was not overbearing and I can tell that the hotel has worked very hard to remove the scent. Very pleased about that hard work.

Location to the event I was attending. Cleanliness of the hotel. Size of the room I stayed in.

The price of my stay was a bit high. HOwever, I know that this was due to the local event I was attending.
