I was very pleased with our stay at Skylarana. I was looking forward to a getaway in the mountains and that is exactly what it felt like. You could see them from the pool deck and the restaurant area. There was also a beautiful fountain and walking trails. I called ahead to make sure we could do contactless check in and when I asked about the views they changed our studio to a cabin and we loved it. Two gorgeous balconies, one with a swing. It was so quiet and beautiful. The cabin came with a full kitchen, two futon-like couches and a beautiful shower.

The winding staircase between floors would not be good for a guest with any physical difficulties. The bathroom is on the first floor and the bedroom is on second floor.

We liked the hot tub, pool, and cabins because we had it to ourselves. If it was fully booked, not sure if it would’ve been the same.

Beds were very comfortable!! Prices at restaurant were not reasonable. Smell in cabin from cleaning supplies was overwhelming. Floors make black marks on feet if you go barefoot. Sky lights and ceiling windows in bedrooms have no darkening capability so we did not sleep very long. Outside lights stayed on all night and shined into the cabins bedrooms. Only views to the mountains is the restaurant outdoor seating. Trees need to be trimmed on tops majorly! Makes no sense to have Mountains but you can’t see them because of no tree maintenance.

There was breakfast out one day but not today. Not sure why. There was some fruit available though. The property is spectacular! Great sunset view of Mt. Pisgah.

The property is unfinished. Lots of construction goi g on as they complete the pool and additional cabins they will rent out. I would splurge for a larger room next time. No table or anywhere to put something g other than dresser or one nightstand. Bigger rooms have a table. The TV attached to the wall in our room was in a very poor location and dangerously low. You should also be aware that there is no elevator. You can go up from the 2nd floor, where you enter, to the 4th floor, where we stayed. If you are handicapped, that would be a problem.

We felt so welcomed from day 1 by the owner, she was more than happy to provide things when asked and made sure we were comfortable. She made a special effort to make my son feel welcomed by things such as letting him feed the fish and engaging in conversation with him. She was always contactable and answered any questions or needs so quickly. The room was spotless when we arrived and so beautifully made up. The bath and shower have to be my favourite part! The bed was super comfy and big enough to share with my four year old without feeling cramped. Breakfast being from 5-10 gave us the option to lay in when we needed and there was so many options to choose from which allowed us to enjoy something new most days. The range of drinks and types of coffee are a great touch. Our trip got extended by a few days and the hotel accommodated us by letting us keep our room and pay for the extra time we were here. We would Definitly stay again and recommend anyone else to do the same.

The bed was comfortable. Erin was very accommodating. The grounds were very well kept and the lighting at night was beautiful.

I didn't like the shower , very small, in our room. The soap and shampoo dispenser made the shower floor very slippery. We did get the economy room which was on lower basement level. There is construction going on and when it is finished it will be beautiful. The gravel drive and parking is a bit tough pulling a suitcase. We could hear people above us and outside but we figured it was construction workers. We couldn't open our curtains due to all of the construction workers around. Our room was 102 and it is a handicapped room. Don't know how a handicapped person could ever get in that shower. My email said we were in room 103 but when we got there our room was changer to 102. Room 103 was a nicer room .

the staff are the bees knees the owner was on site for the fire ring which was the largest one I sat around ever the manager and chef came out to join us this place is a sanctuary in the country they have great views and walking paths with boutique cabins this will be a great gathering place when they finish the compound just see for yourself you won’t be disappointed we will stay again when traveling thought the area. Just grateful Thank You to the staff and owner

what’s not to like

Property is lovely even though they are still doing construction. Room was clean. The king bed was comfy Loved the shower, our view was pretty. Really enjoyed sitting on the front porch last night in rocking chairs and looking at the pink moon.

No one around upon arrival. I did not receive the email for check in instructions. Found the owners who scolded us for being 30 minutes early and rude about missing email. We chose the best view bit didnt realize it was on top floor and no elevator. It was a ghost town and no food available. No ice machine available was annoying.

This is an amazing property that used to be a home, then it became a girls boarding school. Now it is a beautiful hotel that is getting ready to be a resort. We stayed on the first floor facing the garden. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very nice. We enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. In the evening, we went into the restaurant and had a couple of drinks. They were wonderful and reasonably priced. Very friendly service as well. We can’t wait to come back

Quiet, beautiful scenery out in the mountains. Lovely deck with a firepit facing the mountains at sunset. It was a great value. Room was big and nice.

It's still under construction, but they make every effort not to bother the guests.

This resort gives you more of a Bed and Breakfast vibe. The rooms were very modern but also inviting and welcoming at the same time. The views were incredible. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom was renovated wonderfully. The staff was really on top of everyone's every need! Every staff member that we encountered was extremely helpful and very friendly. The check-in process would have been much easier if Booking.com made it clearer that the check-in instructions would be emailed to you once the property received your email address. That's on Booking's part though, not Skylaranna. We will definitely be returning to Skylaranna in the future to see the many upgrades that are being done. Don't wait, book your stay here. You will LOVE it!!!

Honestly, everything was amazing during our stay. If I could change one thing it is that the property has a full-service restaurant for dinner, but the breakfast is continental (i.e. cereal, bagels, yogurt, etc.). I would definitely pay extra for a hot breakfast.
